AC never dies in November, friends. It dies in July, when you need it the most and when all the HVAC contractors are busier than heck. Our condenser (outside unit) started to fail intermittently, i.e., sometimes cooling, sometimes on one of the hottest days of the year, triple digits. In Santa Clarita, that's practically an emergency. Everyone was busy - I had one gentleman squeeze us in between his appointed rounds, but the unit had kicked back on. He was great, and gave a quick quote. It was a bit lower than what Forced Air would eventually give us but the quality of the equipment he proposed to install was the lowest on Consumer Reports. The next day, the system failed completely. 1st Guy couldn't see us for days, but Forced Air's owner, Mark, made a same-day drive-by and actually resurrected the beast using a hard-start kit (a capacitor that POPS the dying system with a jolt of electricity to force it to start). That bought us a couple more weeks of life. Mark gave me a write-up for a full HVAC replacement that was reasonable. The system starts dying again but by now we've gotten a third quote, from a very well-reviewed local HVAC company. The problem with these folks, who otherwise were very responsive and quick to offer a bid, is that their business model is to sell you not just the compressor / condenser / evap coil / furnace; but for older homes like mine (1988) you've got to also buy a full re-do on your ductwork and vents. That literally doubled the price of Forced Air's estimate - but it didn't matter to this other company's rep, it was "my way or the highway." There wasn't even an option to two-phase it by, say, installing the new HVAC and THEN determining whether new ducting was something we should have to pay for. We showed him the door and the nearest highway. And called Forced Air. The AC system was dying on Sunday, Mark promised to be there on Monday at 8:30 a.m. He got there exactly at 8:30 a.m. He and his crew were professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and did very clean work on the install. And the new system is fantastic. I've told Mark we'll circle back to him in the fall to consider a ductwork test. In the meantime, please know we are very satisfied customers. read more

I'm not sure what's up with all the raving 5-star reviews but I can't get these people to call me back to set up an estimate. I called, left a message on this guy's answering machine -- he has a voice on his machine that's so deadpan, it makes the teacher on Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Ben Stein) seem quite lively in comparison -- and nobody called me back. I'm looking to replace 2 (upstairs and downstairs) air conditioning units. I guess they don't need the business. I'll be calling somebody else...somebody who actually wants the job. read more

Mike and his team did a great job the first time I called them although I haven't been able to check their work in the attic to be certain they replaced the rubber pipe with a copper one. They did however fixed the leak of the condensation pipe. I had to call them back a few days later because my outside fan stopped working. He came to my house while I was at work but haven't heard from him since. I texted him and called him, left voicemail messages but never once did I receive a text back or a call. This is totally unprofessional. He also left the fan off when he left and came back to a 90degree house at 0200am. read more
