He installed my air conditioner and and didn't put in a float safety valve that shuts off the system if it ever get's clogged with debri. For some reason this is not a code requirement by building and safety on the bottom floor but is for the 2nd floor. My air conditioner was leaking water for several months during the Summer. I realized it when my flooring started to have small bubbles. A float safety valve costs about $20. Every homeowner should have one. The damage to my home was $20,000. read more

I was going through some paperwork and came across my invoice from this company. It reminded me what sub par work he did. He installed a furnace in my house a couple years back. He said he would get a good one came back with the cheapest one he could find. the installation was okay he left with the stack crooked on top of the house I had to get him to straighten it. The unit was very loud in my home, it still is. I was asking about some silencing material for my duct. He wanted to charge me full charge for an hourly rate to go get the parts. Who charges to get parts? I gave him a second chance when I needed an air conditioner I try to do business local and he is local. I had several people come out. I got estimates from several. His estimate was too high and he is the only one that charged me for the estimate. He didn't tell me up front. I shouldn't have paid it but I did. Make sure you get what you're buying up front. Bill is a friendly guy. I had him come out a couple times, but expensive diagnostic fee for only 15 minutes of actual work time if you end up not opting for the repair. Parts are cheap, but labor costs are horrendous and don't seem to be worth it unless you're desperate, so I would inquire first for those quoting around for AC repair/services. read more

Bill came through when another venting company I had booked was a no-show. He came by to look at the AC unit and furnace for maintenance before the summer heat waves. Everything checked out ok. He also repaired a broken PVC pipe in the furnace. Honest, direct, friendly, and knowledgeable. Aside from that, we remove our shoes at our home. My only gripe was that Bill said he couldn't remove his shoes because his "insurance didn't cover it." Most repairmen who come to our home and decide to keep their shoes on have some sort of disposable shoe covers to wear for sanitary purposes. After calling several other services with great Yelp ratings and being given large "windows" of time that they could come out that did not work with my schedule I asked a few neighbors. Everyone recommended Bill and Purdy Cool. Gave him a call, he was very flexible and understood our work schedules and was able to work with us for a time. With regard to JASON O. and his review: he is leaving out facts and his issues are false. He was quoted a price through his wife by phone and had the option to say YES do the work or NO thank you. He wanted to use his own parts for the replacement which is never done because there is no way to stand by the repair not knowing the condition of the parts. If JASON O. was such an unknowing victim, why did he have replacement parts in his garage. He is clearly not telling the real story and trying to harm Purdy Cool A/Cs reputation as a vindictive act. Some people are just cheap. The overhead for a truck, tools, specialty equipment, labor, time to figure the job and bid it, driving time, insurance, gasoline, phones, advertising, picking up equipment and supplies, office supplies, rent etc. are part of the cost of a repair or new installation. That is business. Hopefully there is enough left to put food on his table and take care of his family. We are also paying for the knowledge and expertise that 30+ years in business provides. Don't listen to sour grape cheapskates. Entitlement mentality is running rampant for free stuff and "let the government or big buiness pay for it". Great service! I was skeptical of his high rating, but Bill came through! Bill actually answered the phone himself at 6 pm when my AC broke down at the tail end of the last heat wave. (I started calling other companies at 5:45 and it was either a dispatch operator or voice mail. One company said they could come 17 days later and another one called back after I talked to Bill and offered late pm the next day.) Bill came within 2 hours that night (he was already on other calls), identified the problem (motor was fried), let me know he could pick one up tomorrow and be back in the afternoon. And the best part is, he came and installed the motor and my AC was fixed with 24 hours--a pure miracle in this season of back to back heatwaves. This review is specific to their customer service: Called Bill yesterday afternoon around 4:00 because my thermostat stopped working. He said he had an opening in his schedule and was able to see me. By 4:45 he was at my doorstep. I loved how prompt he was. He examined my a/c unit outside and then the thermostat inside, and to his diagnosis it was just a very old, worn out thermostat that needed replacement. And so we did just that. By 5:45 he was all done and out the door. I was very satisfied with the speed and professionalism Bill has. He charged me $250 total for the new part and labor. Whether that is reasonable and fair i really don't know for sure. I'd still have to do research on that. read more

Having had a new air condenser installed in August 2013, imagine my surprise when it stopped blowing cool air in August 2014! Bill Purdy responded quickly when I asked for a diagnosis and cost. I selected Bill and we scheduled the coil installation.
