I went in you buy cheese curds, and some other specialty cheeses that I would buy from there and now they are no longer carrying them. Rumiano was a staple in our community. It's so sad to see what this company has done to our local cheese company. The cheeses that they've won awards for are no longer available. The cheese, butter and other things that I used to buy here are not in the store anymore. It's just sad to see this happen in our little community.

That's right $ 0.25 a scoop. Counter service provided by a young man who scooped a huge scoop and served it in a dish. Very cool to say the least. There was no place to sit, no place to loiter, just a door to enter and leave. There were several flavors to choose from. Any flavor of Cedar Crest ice cream is fantastic. Highly recommend you go with an appetite because this place is nothing but value. No frills, no added fees, just superb ice cream.

I saw Brazen Head Pub post on social media that for four days only they were serving a special…read moreburger called The Garfield, which was a piece of deep fried lasagna on a burger with mozzarella, marinara, and buns toasted like garlic bread. Both my older son and I thought this sounded amazing so we stopped in on a Friday night to try it. We both got fries for our side. The burger was great as expected. Breading and deep frying the lasagna helped prevent it from being a mess and they added enough marinara to give it flavor without overpowering anything. The fries were lightly salted, but were otherwise just boring, plain potato. Apparently 6pm on a Friday is a horrible time to visit Brazen Head Pub if you want to be seated in a reasonable timeframe. My son and I stood there for at least 20 minutes watching a table that was done eating and the gentleman and his credit card in hand, ready to pay if someone would ever stop and give him his bill. While this was going on, another couple at the bar finished their food and sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for their check. It's almost as if the employees had no desire to turnover tables even with a line at the door including and behind us. There were three people bartending/waiting tables so they had plenty of coverage given the smaller size of the place. At one point, closer to the end of our meal, one of the bartenders looked at my son and I and asked "are you guys good?" as he was literally walking away from us and I was holding up an empty soda glass to show him I'd like a refill. Oddly, he gave me a thumbs up and kept going. I don't even know what to make of that other than poor service. The music that was playing was excessively loud. If it was a live band, I'd get it, that's part of the show and I wouldn't complain. For random music on speakers to drown out all conversations unless you're yelling, that's dumb.

And let me just say, if you like a good burger this (may be) the place for you. It's located on Main Street in West Bend. This area has gone through a real renaissance. The fixed up the street and sidewalks, have angled parking, and the lighting a nice. It's a real treat to be able to walk in this area of small shops and businesses. No stripmalls or big box stores. Very nice city planning! Came with a couple of friends, around 11:30. The Brazen Head Pub is one of many bars and restaurants in this area. This pub is pretty typical layout. It's long and narrow, a little dark (lighting and wood), has a long bar, and then a few high top tables. There is one larger table towards the rear that holds 6 people. Since there were 3 of us, we grabbed a high-top and stole a chair from the next table. (we had 4 people, not sure what we would have done). There was only one person (John) running all the table and managing the bar, and a couple of people in the small kitchen. John (our server) got to us after a short wait. Got our drinks and order placed right away. We ordered some Cheese Nuggets (white cheddar curds) and 3 different burgers. You can either "build your own" or order the standard "Brazen Head Beer Cheese Burger". The curds came out almost instantly. They were hot, with a side of ranch. They were good (not great, a little too much breading for my tastes). We waited a bit for the biggers, but they ended up being worth the wait. All were made perfectly to order, hot, lots of flavor, and very good portions. The Brazen Head Burger was tall, but manageable. The different elements were distinct and complementary. The cheese sauce had a big of a tang. The fries were okay, but could have been hotter. While we were there, the place filled up. Lots of other small groups, some at the long bar. With the additional people it got to be pretty noisy, to the point that it was hard to have a conversation. It didn't help that there was a speaker, right over the tables, with loud music. With only one person running all the tables, after our food came out, it was difficult to get our servers attention. Extra napkins and getting our check was a challenge. The experience was mixed. Definitely a place to get an amazing burger, cooked perfectly to order. However, the noise and the service (due to their popularity) was a bit lacking. I visited Vintage Elkhart Lake multiple times when I was in the area! It's a great place to get a…read moreglass of wine (or two or three), because they have a Wine-o-Matic, which is a magical device that dispenses tastes or full glasses of wine from a selection in the machine. The way it works is that you tell the people behind the counter that you want to do the wine tasting, and then you add an amount of money onto a card. A small taste of wine might cost anywhere from $1 to $3, and a full glass might range from $3 to $6 or more, depending on the bottle. What I love about this system (the Wine-o-Matic) is that I can take my time, look at all of the options, process what I've looked at, and make a decision about what I want to drink without having to speak to anyone. This is a wine-loving introvert's dream! The lounge area where the Wine-o-Matic is located is very comfy -- there are couches and tables, as well as little nibbles available. I loved dispensing my wine into my glass, and then sitting back and enjoying the wine while relaxing in a comfortable and comfy room. The wine tasting room is a separate room from the rest of the store, so it was quiet while I was there, which I appreciated. Like I said, I visited Vintage a couple of times while I was in Elkhart Lake. One of the times, I visited to buy some local beer. They have individual cans, so you can create your own six-pack. They (of course) have Spotted Cow. There are also all kinds of gourmet food items, kitchen things and gifts. This is a really neat place to hang out or find a gift for the wine- or beer-loving person in your life.

We popped in at about 11 a.m. on a Saturday and they still had selection and folks were popping in after us. Really appreciate the option not to have to get up first thing in the morning for a decent bakery run. So was able to get a peanut square (surprisingly light and delicate). Still to try: crueller (chocolate cake?), cinnamon pretzel, and I forget the name but looks like a glazed croissant. Looking for Yelpers to help with another photo!

Like the cheesesteaks in Philly, there is no clear winner because everyone has their favorite. But in essence, we all win because they are all so great! West Side, Hi-Low, City or Johnston's, they all have great buns! Maybe I lean a little towards Hi-Low, but only by a crumb. I have to say West Side buns are very close! What West Side has going for it, is some of its other fresh bakery.... Peanuts Squares are to die for! I also love how quaint and old timey this cute little neighborhood bakery is. Nothing flashing, not even a ton of choices, but what they have is all good, and so fresh. The girl working was super friendly. When a "regular" came in, she knew him by name and what he was there for.... Almost like Norm on Cheers, only with danishes instead of beer! Love these neighborhood bakeries in Sheboygan. And you just HAVE to buy some buns (hard rolls), they compliment every sandwich...especially the local Johnsonville Brats!
