Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite from start to finish. Our scheduled appointment time came and went without any communication from the company. We ultimately had to make multiple calls and send multiple texts just to determine whether our appointment was still happening. After being told the appointment would need to be rescheduled, we continued trying to get answers and eventually heard from Jared, who informed us he was driving from Maple Valley and would be coming to our appointment. The estimate presentation itself had some positives. We appreciated being able to see the fence design and pricing breakdown on the iPad in real time, which helped us better understand the project and costs. However, the biggest issue arose when we later realized we had apparently signed a contract and authorized a $6,000 deposit, despite repeatedly and very clearly communicating that we were still gathering estimates from multiple contractors and were not prepared to make a decision that day. At no point did we believe we were entering into a binding agreement. We believed we were reviewing an estimate and discussing options. When we requested that the contract be canceled, a discount was immediately offered in an apparent effort to keep the sale. We also found it concerning that after a discount was discussed, the revised quote still reflected the original pricing. What stood out most throughout this process was how often we felt we had to advocate for ourselves. We had to chase down communication regarding the appointment, question what we had signed, request cancellation, and specifically ask for written confirmation of the cancellation and refund. At nearly every step, it felt like the burden was on us to get clear answers. After this experience, we met with another fencing company whose representative had previously worked for Cool Cat Fence. During our conversation, he stated that many of the company's sales and business tactics were very deliberate, very intentional, and specifically designed to pressure customers into making decisions on the spot. He explained that he ultimately chose to leave because he personally did not feel comfortable with the tactics being used and did not want to continue being associated with that approach. After our own experience, that information was difficult to ignore. We were also surprised to find reviews from customers alleging that the company offered incentives, discounts, or other compensation in exchange for removing or changing negative reviews. Prospective customers should take the time to read through reviews carefully and draw their own conclusions. I also sent a detailed email directly to management outlining our concerns in the hope that the feedback would help improve the customer experience for future customers. Despite receiving the manager's email address directly and sending that feedback, I never received any response. The contract was ultimately canceled and our deposit was refunded, which was the outcome we had requested immediatelyafter realizedJared was trying to take advantage of us. The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

The installers, Tipton and Nelson, were great to work with. They kept us well informed on their arrival times and their progress during the installation. They did an excellent job. The Milgard windows look great and the installers attention to detail was welcomed. They cleaned up after their work and left our house looking great with new windows. He also patiently worked with us to help decide which composite to use for the staircase surface. Wasili then send us a very fair bid. After he sent us photos of other houses for which he did similar work, we accepted his bid. Wasili came out to our house the very next day, dropping supplies off and starting demo. When he did that, he also went above and beyond. He suggested two upgrades to the work he bid on, offering for free to provide am additional cross-brace and to use composite for the risers as well.
