For my husband's birthday, he requested barbecue, and a colleague of his recommended Papa Bear's…read moreBBQ. We decided to try it, and it exceeded our expectations. We ordered the Papa Bear's Sampler, which offers an excellent variety of meats along with two sides. While it is described as serving two people (or one very hearty appetite), the portion size is extremely generous. It would take quite an appetite to finish it in one sitting. The meats were tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, and the sides were equally impressive--especially the potato salad. In fact, the sampler provided enough food for two full meals for my husband and me. I am particularly selective about potato salad, as I have always compared it to my grandmother's recipe, and few have come close. Papa Bear's BBQ is a rare exception. In addition to the outstanding food, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and the pricing was very reasonable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to returning.

The place wasn't crowded, but did have plenty of people inside either waiting for orders or eating at some of the handful of tables. I looked at the big menu display screens and then placed my order at the counter with the nice woman who works there. I had the brisket plate with chili and corn bread as my sides. The brisket (some fatty, some lean so I could try their idea of both) was cooked well and had a good smoke ring. The smoke flavor wasn't as strong as I prefer, but different people have different ideas and less is more when you're cooking for a crowd, so I respect that. Their barbecue sauce (the red one -- I don't put yellow sauce on brisket -- had a good flavor that complemented the brisket's flavor rather than overpowering it.) As for the sides, the chili was OK, but not something that I would order again. I like chili and was curious. Curiosity satisfied. The corn bread was moist and that middle-of-the-road between sweet and savory that is common in much of Texas (at least the parts I have visited). I like mine a little more sweet, but, like the brisket, I am a believer in getting the texture right first. Be aware if you are a fan of the sweet corn breads.

As the years progressed, we tried other local places but it was good to make our way back here. For the most part, I felt like the layout is fairly similar but noticed a decent amount of patio seating which would be nice in winter/spring. It was a pretty busy Saturday with every table taken, but they were bussing one so we were sat pretty quickly. Though the place was filled, the staff worked both efficiently with refilling coffee, getting food out, and just being incredibly personable. Still in awe that we had our food in less than 10 minutes from ordering! Might be the most efficient breakfast spot in the city. And our coffee was consistently replenished with them even asking if we wanted a one to go. What We Ordered: - Coffee: pretty good and love they have French vanilla creamer at the table. - Chicken Fried Steak, Two Eggs, Potatoes & Toast (special priced at $10.99): I went with the special and tried the cheesy hashbrown casserole. It was pretty good, but was a bit rich with the chicken fried steak. The Chicken fried steak was perfectly crispy and delicious. A very solid breakfast platter for only $10.99! - #2 Breakfast Plate (Two pancakes, two eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns): My dad was very pleased and glad they accommodated the crispy bacon request as he prefers that way. I'd definitely both return and recommend this location.

Sooo annoying. Staffs were friendly and the decor is nice like the west Mesa location. Well tried something new, ordered birria ramen, taquitos, and chilaquiles pastor. Menu was little confusing because I thought it was extra for eggs on the birria but I guess its included. Never tried birria ramen so I was little skeptical. Well well, too my surprise, ramen birria was pretty tasty. Ramen quaily was little better than I expected, nice and chewy. Broth was tasty but definitely was not spicy. Dish also came with I guess tacos with melted cheese? Ate one and it was tasty. Eggs cooked perfect to my order. Taquitos was tasty but nothing special. Chilaquiles was tasty but pastor was little bit on the blend side but still tasty. I really like this place, can't go wrong with their food. I'm just bummed it was not the weekend. Guess I'll have to try again on the weekend.

The vibe is modern Latin Fusion, light and bright. Modern contemporary wall pattern designs Art and logos are notable throughout. Table to ceiling windows let in a tremendous amount of natural light. Some say music sets the mood; well it surprised me today. It was almost like the couple fighting over which radio station to listen to. When it's playing I enjoy the Rumba Rhythms and similar beats but today was all over the place. Service 3/5 I'm being a bit generous with the 3. We were greeted quickly by the hostess who seated us immediately upon entering. The Resturant was after the "lunch rush" and appeared to be at about half capacity. Dispute this our server stopped occasionally hardly breaking stride to get an order twice because he couldn't stop long enough to get the orders properly. Same for refills. Food 5/5 I really looked forward to this revisit. Last time we had table neighbors who both got this delicious concoction of Latin inspired bowl with Birria taco, meat and Roman noodles. That was top of mind for this visit and included 3 skillet fried jalapeños. The food was amazing. The Birria bowl was built around some papas fetas, Birria broth with the roman well cooked in the broth. The bowl was topped with three Birria and cheese tacos which I removed to a side plate to enjoy separately. The bowl in also accompanied by fresh diced Onions and Cilantro. The dish and the fried jalapeños were fantastic. I definitely would have this again. Get your Fusion confusion on my Friends- SYOY!
