I've gone to Gidgets twice now and love it! I never have a problem getting appointments for our dogs.....and I have quite a crew: 1 ChiTerrier, 1 ChiCorgie, and 2 Teacup Chihuahuas. The service is VERY friendly and they help me unload and reload my pups into the car....very helpful! My long coat Chihuahua gets a perfect cut every time...and she looks ADORABLE. I don't know what they use to shampoo, but they come back soooooo soft. I was using high end Bumble & Bumble at home, but whatever they use at Gidget's is better. I highly recommend them! read more

Took my sweet boy to Gidget's just to get usual trimming done (nails, pads, ears, booty). He is only a lab. However, he is 80 lbs and a anxious guy. The charge was only $35+tip, which is reasonable. I will be taking my sweet boy there again.. They also were nice and gave me a baggie of free dog treats. read more

We've been bringing our little ladies to Gidgets for a couple of years now, and we really love the job they do with them. We've had horrible experiences with other groomers, but we've never had any issues here, so until something changes, we're loyal customers. Our little minions hate going to the groomers. I mean, they really hate it. It's like we're dragging them to the guillotine when we put them in the car. However, our love of non smelly dogs forces our hand, and we torture them anyway. The groomers at Gidget's do their best to make the experience less traumatic...but it's no good. The ladies hate getting baths no matter how many treats and smooches you give them. Oh, well. Our current groomer's named Val, and she is super friendly and very accommodating. My Lab-mix, Callie, has prescription shampoo since she has a lot of problems with her itchy dry skin. When forgetful me left the shampoo at the groomers, they kept it there for her next appointment. So helpful! My other mutt, an Australian Shepherd mix named Sheila, has long fine hairs that just love to get snarled into the most incredible rats nests. They've always done a great job getting the tangles out, and her hair is silky and shiny when we pick her up. They do a great job cutting her hair too! We also love the bandanas they put on them, and we've never had any issues with their claws getting cut to the quick. Gidget's is great. Friendly service, great staff, and it's wonderful to drop off your smelly, dander ridden, tangled mutts and get back two happy, fresh smelling, shiny dogs. So, I don't care how much my girls bitch about it, we're going to keep bringing them here. Their big sad eyes won't work on me! read more

I brought my little senior rescue Pom to Jennifer for grooming. I found her roaming the streets six months ago and she was in awful condition and maintaining her coat has been a struggle. At her first grooming she was simply combed out with no problem. For this visit, she was a bit matted and I understood she was going to be shaved, but she came home bald. I thought that at least some hair would be saved. I wasn't thrilled, but gave a substantial tip. It wasn't until after speaking to my vet and others that have done rescue work with me that we determined this was done unnecessarily. Why are groomers so shave happy these days? Perhaps it's easier. I don't know. Nonetheless, I had decided to live with it and in fact, decided to bring my Border Collie mix who only needed a bath/brush. I was very specific in asking for her not to be shaved for any reason on any part of her body. I wanted to bring up my feelings about the shave job she did on my Pom, just two days earlier. If I was going to continue going to this place, I wanted to be honest and forthcoming with my feelings. Jennifer got very defensive, rude and clearly rattled, as if she was above questioning. My dog did not need to be shaved down to her skin and her argument for having done so was baseless. Not one of us is ever above questioning, especially if you are in the service industry. At one point, she even placed her hand on me while she berated me for not taking care of my dog and this made me very uncomfortable. I found this woman's demeanor to be quite frightening and she should be kept in the back room. Needless to say, I left with my dog and we will not be back. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism. Scary place. read more

Top notch. I was very nervous and skeptical about getting my young Siberian cat groomed for the first time. I'm happy to report that I had no reason to be. The staff was very friendly, and the groomer's demeanor put me at ease right away. I was most concerned about getting my cat's nails trimmed, but I can see that the groomer was very careful and didn't cut them too short. Finding parking is a little bit difficult if you're as parallel parking challenged as I am, but that's completely out of their control. The drive was far, but I am very happy with this place and am more than willing to make the trip in the future for their great service. :) read more

The staff (Stacy and everyone we dealt with on site) were very accommodating of my schedule. I have some physical limitations and was having trouble finding help to get my cat to the appointment. They were super awesome to switch my appointment and squeeze me in last minute day-of, when I was able to get help. Our beast of a cat Lester is super hard to get to cooperate, but they still did a great job with him. Great experience. Sharon changed my dog from a hot, unhappy Great Pyrenees to a cooler, younger looking giant yellow lab in a few hours. She did this for considerably less than was quoted at other places. The reception area was clean and I was able to see the working area which also was clean and organized. She was recommended to me from some fussy neighbors so I knew that their experiences had also been good. read more

Ark is the best! I have a very large Maine Coon cat with a double coat that is prone to many tangles. I have to have him shaved once a year. Every other place I've taken him to makes me stay because he is so big and hard to handle. Ark has groomed him three times for me, and he always comes back looking great. Ark is very calm and is the only person who can handle my cat on his own. It's nice to pick my cat up without him being shell-shocked. Their prices are very reasonable too. read more

I have been taking my dogs to "Gidgets Grooming" for 15 years, and have referred many other similarly happy clients. The owner Sharon Terlep's little dog Gidget wanders the shop and greets you. Sharon is not only an excellent groomer, she is personable and kind: When my previous beloved dog was geriatric and immobile due to a stroke, I would take her to see Sharon early in the morning before her shop opened. Sharon groomed my frail best friend while I stood by the table, and she did not charge me. That was a kindness and a labor of love that says a lot about Sharon, and is something I will always remember. read more

I took my indoor Pomeranian to Gidgets Grooming, within a couple weeks she was itching incessantly and couldn't get any relief. I took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with adult lice and eggs. I called the owner to discuss the diagnoses and she was immediately defensive. I didn't call asking for reimbursement of the $200 vet bill, I wanted her to be informed. She gave me excuses saying that my indoor dog (that has no contact with other dogs outside the groomer) caught the lice in our yard and they hadn't had any cases of lice since spring. Per the vet and petmd.com lice "can be passed directly from one dog to another through direct contact or through contact with contaminated objects, such as grooming utensils." I would not recommend Gidgets Grooming to anyone. The owner was absolutely rude and couldn't have cared less her business made my dog sick. There are many other great groomers in Wash Park: beware of the filthy, unkept conditions. read more

Don't go here. Not worth it. Their groomers don't know how to groom. They have really poor customer service & awful professional skills w clients. I wouldn't trust a double-coat (they'll ruin it) or my dog (she hurt him w bad brushes) at Gidget's Grooming! I've been bringing my dog here for several months & the one decent groomer they had left. My dog is a Keeshond & has a double-coat. I've had this breed for over a decade, & he shows for AKC w a professional groomer who's raised Keeshonden for 30yrs. I *always* ask my groomers what their grooming technique will be bc few groomers really understand this coat & can ruin it. But when I dropped my dog off to Val & asked her how she would groom him, she was snarky & rude, and insisted she knew what she was doing & that she had seen Hannah groom him before. Hannah was very sweet when she groomed him, but she also almost used a razored brush that would have permanently destroyed his cost- she's inexperienced, at least w this breed. Multiple times, their groomers did a sub-par job & I didn't say anything. But when I told Val I was upset that she hadn't at all removed the coat she should have, she continued to argue w me & showed me the brush she used, which probably hurt him terribly. She tried to tell me he needed to be brushed longer (& charge me more)... as if continuing to groom him incorrectly would help. She & the owner both insisted Val had groomed this breed before, but it's an exceptionally difficult double-coat, and she's doing it wrong, if so. They refunded my groom & I won't come back, but I couldn't believe how rude they were to me! Val wasn't willing to hear a thing her customers were concerned about! My baby will go elsewhere, to a more competent business. read more

We have gone to Gidgets for several years. However, we had had two injuries to our dog. One was a burning of the skin on his stomach from a hot clipping tool, the other an injury down to the tendon on his leg again from the clipping tool. This had to be treated at Washington Park Veterinarians on two separate visits for $300. The thing that I hated the most was the groomer never told me that they inured my dog. I had to discover this on my own. You would think if you were injuring a dog, the dog might cry out, and you might be honest with the owner. Sharon did offer to help pay for the vet bills. The level of groom has gone completely down hill. The last time there I had to have her groomed somewhere else a few days later. They said it must have been an amateur. When the hair and ears are all different lengths, that is bad. Not retuning with my dog. read more

I hate to write a negative review about a local business but I thought I would share this story with anyone who takes their dog here. I was driving home yesterday around 2:30pm coming off I-25 and taking a right onto pearl street. Before I could make a turn there was a beautiful but obviously very distressed sheep dog that was trying to get onto the highway ramp! I slowed down and used my car to block both lanes of traffic and prevent the dog from running down the ramp. The dog got very nervous and turned around and started walking back down the pearl street towards pub on pearl. I quickly pulled over and got out of my car to try and coax the dog to a safer area. There was no talking him into coming to me...so I got back in my car and thought I'd just try to follow him. A few minutes later I see two women from Gidgets in their grooming aprons with the dog by it's scruff and dragging him back into the groomers salon. I would be sick if that were my dog, they very narrowly avoided a disaster and I have no idea how the dog got so far without any employees on his tails. I will not be brining either one of my dogs to them. read more

Too bad. I had hopes for this place. When I picked up my two dogs, they gave me the wrong leash. I called them immediately and when they called the next day, they said to come by and pick up my leash. When I got there, they told me that they didn't have it and that the leash I got was mine. The leash they gave me was broken and since it was a $30 leash, I told them that what they gave me wasn't mine. All I got was a shrug of the shoulders. Don't feel like I can trust them and I will not be taking my dogs to this place again. read more

First off, I will say that this was the best my little schnoodle has looked since moving to Denver after visiting Gidget's . However, first impressions of this place left me fearing what he was going to look like when I picked him up. I think there are some talented groomers here, but it's a shame because the place is so flithy that I almost wasn't willing to leave my dog here. The lobby is disgusting with hair everywhere, dried urine on the floor, and a couch I wouldn't sit on if my life depended on it. I was nervous leaving my dog there, but I took a chance. And boy was I surprised when I picked him up. He had been groomed exactly as I requested. I've tried 4 other groomers in Denver and haven't been this impressed. The question is...will I return? You guys/gals do great work at Gidgets! Take some pride in your business and let it show. It's no telling how many people walk away after stepping in your lobby. I love Gidget's grooming. Owner Sharon Terlep grooms my Lhasa Apso Red regularly. We've been going to Gidget's now for about 9 years and I've always been very happy. I wish I had found her when I had my last dog. Sharon is a trained groomer and she know the standard styles for the different dog breeds, whereas some groomers used the same basic cut for all dogs. I'm not particularly good about combing my dog's hair in between groomings, but thanks to Sharon's skill, she always looks like she's just been groomed - even right before her next appointment. On the few occasions when Sharon hasn't been available to groom my dog, other groomers in her shop have stepped in and have proven to be equally skilled. I also like the fact that Gidget's schedules appointments that last about 2 hours. Past groomers used an assembly line grooming method that had my dog there the whole day. These shorter appointments are much less stressful for the dog. read more

This is the third time i have taken my dog for grooming. She was only matted a little bit around the neck. I asked Leah not to cut. She said ok just wash and brush....Yes. I picked her up and she was trimmed around her face and top. Not a good look.... I specifically asked for her not to be cuts. They do not listen. Many friends asked if I payed! Took my puppy in for a hair cut. We adopted her from another family who hadn't taken care of her and she has a lot of hair. The first visit she was scared so they couldn't do much so we had to come back. That part was super annoying cause I live far from there and am super busy and HAD to bring her back because they didn't cut any of the length off. So, the second visit went a little better and they were able to shave her down and trim her face. I understand why they needed to spread out the times, I'm not an evil dog owner. My puppy looks good. Took my cat and dog to Gidgets Grooming yesterday for their first visit and it was a great experience. I was able to book the appointment within a more than reasonable time frame and the service was phenomenal. Everyone was friendly and the groomer did an amazing job with my cat. We have a two year old Airedale, Josie. We have a groomer in the Boulder area, but she has gone on maternity leave. I contacted the Airedale Club of Colorado for a recommendation. Gidgets was "The Place" suggested. The owner and staff were great and know how to groom an Airedale (not easy to find, by any means) Josie looks great!! LOVE THIS PLACE! Let me start with the staff who were all extremely friendly and helpful. The prices a very reasonable, And the owner Sharon is AMAZING. They take care of my cat Ninja (Who mind you is not the easiest cat to deal with) I told them that it was going to be tough the first time we went and they assured me that they will take good care of her, and that they did!
