While checking out this strip, my daughter and I ran into this store. I'm a sucker for Hello Kitty…read moreso when she caught my eye through the front door, I knew I was going to have fun here. Walking in, I think the best way to describe this joint is chaotic. Chaotic in the sense that there's a ton of stuff shoved in a very small space. They have a little of everything here. It's quite.... interesting. You have trinkets, blind boxes, key chains and lingerie. The lingerie really threw me off honestly. It was the last thing I would expect from a store like this. We did find a couple things in the store to take home with us when we had back to Idaho. There is a 10 dollar min unless you are paying cash. The cashier is there to do her job so don't expect too much customer service. If you're looking for Sanrio type items than this is the joint to hit up. It is quite overwhelming trying to check everything out. As long as you're patient and is willing to take the time to check everything out than you should have fun for you! But for me, I did have fun looking at everything at first but the more I got into the store itself, it made me uncomfortable due to the cluttering of it.

It's possible the owners don't know but still very disappointing as I would expect a hobby/enthusiast store to have legit items. If anyone was selling fake smiskis in Utah I would expect it to be those kiosk vendors at the mall, not this place. I guess life can be surprising.

It might come as a surprise that a store like this produces a very solid cup of coffee. Tucked away in the back behind the register is a setup that yields a delicious brew by someone who clearly has lots of experience dialing in the coffee. I did not spend much time in the area but was very happy to have stopped by and talk with the owner and experience a delicious latte. She also deserves extra praise for letting me SAMPLE the coffee before taking it away! I've never had this kind of service from a coffee shop. While I was told a marvelous Americano can be had here, I opted for my usual latte and was not disappointed. I highly recommend getting your fix of java here if you're in the area.

Their atmosphere is charming, thoughtful, and unique and their business premise is a dream. They sell excellent coffee, plants, a number of beautiful rocks, and stunning art by local artist Michael Haswood. Their goal is to inspire people to be more connected to nature and the shop owners are also very knowledgable about the variety of rocks they sell. Salt Lake has many rock shops, but From The Ground Up offers the most thoughtfully curated and unique selection I've seen. The staff is refreshing and truly grateful for their patrons. They're friendly, warm, welcoming and share infectious passion for their business and educating people about the rocks they sell. What I love most about From The Ground Up is that their store encourages you to take your time and be present. It's so much fun and very relaxing to browse through their collection and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. They attract a really wonderful clientele and everyone I've ever met in this store has been interesting, kind, and excellent conversationalists. It simultaneously feels like it's a testament to Salt Lake Culture while also feeling like it belongs elsewhere. It's truly a magical secret oasis with consistently kind people that allows for an escape the chaos of construction. Highly recommend!

The shop is an old house that has been repurposed into a fantastic space that exudes positive energy. I visited recently and was looking for something special for my best friend, who is a collector of stones and gems. I am not well-versed in stones, but I knew I wanted something that would signify our friendship/sisterhood. A lovely staff member jumped into action and curated a sampling of options for me to choose from. I was so grateful for their efforts to help me find just the right gift, and I fell in love with one of them-a watermelon tourmaline. They offered gift wrap options and made sure it was ready for my friend to love. While I was there, I interacted with a couple different staff members and they were so welcoming and helpful. I would love to spend hours in here, even just taking in all the good vibes and energy. I'll certainly be back when I need a power boost.

I love the remodel that happened a few years ago now. The back rooms opened up for more shop space filled with cards and other mindful gifts. They still have a range of crystals from tumbles to more rare and expensive pieces (ohhhhhh, one day I'll collect those rarer pieces). I do miss the dove who was their singing shop keeper. I love coming out to Turiya's... it's always a treat!
