Guy answers phone, i asked him if he had a minute to answer a couple questions i had. "i mean i have a few people I'm helping right now but yeah sure" I proceed to explain that i was looking for guidance or advice on how to offload my extensive Pokémon card collection as I'm moving out of the area, and i was wondering if they had a buyer or something of the sort that would sit down with me and run through it to see what they're willing to buy, etc. He responds, "oookay. Are you planning on paying someone for that?" Confused, i asked what he meant? "Basically what I'm getting at is no, we don't do that. I have a guy here that's really knowledgeable about that kinda stuff but i wouldn't wanna waste his time" I thanked him for his "candid" (read: completely rude) response and that i would look elsewhere. I have gone to multiple pre-releases since then and I do enjoy going to commander here. But with their rising cost for pre-releases and the insane low balling they have given me when asking for trade ins I have been going to other stores more now especially since their move into Northridge. This is a great place to play, especially when your bringing your own deck but any limited format is a higher price than average. We shouldn't let these stores normalize these prices. I can only speak on MTG pricing and trades I have no idea if this is the same for Pokemon and Lorcana etc. I do build Gunpla and their Gunpla pricing is pretty fair but I feel like the Gunpla is really just an afterthought at this store and the sets they have on display are not anything to write home about. I don't remember seeing them selling a bunch of tools to help builders step up their building either. I would much rather buy from a Hobby Shop that's actually dedicated to the craft.

I purposely wanted to shop local and support an independent business, and a quick search on Yelp led me here. We arrived about an hour before closing on Saturday, which was great because parking meters end at 4pm and we found parking out front easily. We were greeted by an employee behind the desk as we walked in. She asked if there was anything she could help us find, and I let her know we were first time customers looking for a birthday gift with the details mentioned above. She let us know the layout of the store, her suggestions, but let us look freely. Over time more customers arrived with small children, and received the same courteous service. The store is clean and curated. I appreciated seeing well made toys and items inspiring imaginative play, rather than cheap plastic with distracting lights or sounds. I eventually chose a doctor play set as well as some items for my own children, such as animal figures and stamp markers. They offer free gift wrapping, which is a nice touch. The one alarming fact that stood out is that there were many empty storefronts on their block, so it's more important than ever to support our local economy. Their prices reflect investment in well made items, so I would not come here expecting big box store deals. In a world full of Target and Amazon, I would rather spend my money supporting a local, independent business. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back with our kids this holiday season.

We've never had to park too far away, and we've never been unable to find a spot or had to look for more than a couple minutes. Make sure to not listen to Maps when it tells you to turn left on those big streets if that's not your jam lol. Also I think it's a five minute walk from that one A line stop, so if you live close enough that's a good alternative. STAFF: The sweetest, friendliest, gayest, nerdiest baristas ever. I've never had a bad experience with them. I've been to other cafes frequently, but since this one became our new spot, one of the baristas recognized me after we'd only gone a few days in a row. They all seem to be friends with the regulars, even though they've only been open a year as of a couple days ago. We usually go around the same time, so we generally see the same staff members, and they seem to recognize us when we come in. LOCATION: For me personally, it's very conveniently located, which is a huge plus. It's in a super cute area with lots of restaurants, dessert places, thrift shops, bars, etc., and I'm excited to check out the area more. I remember it being cute and aesthetic. It's just one single bathroom, but I've never had to wait or seen a line. STIMULATION: At times it can be overstimulating to be so close to other people at the communal tables. I've been there many times, and I've only been overstimulated by it once. It depends on the time and day that you go. If you look at their calendar, you can see if there's stuff going on that day, which may affect crowdedness. HOURS: They have great hours - 7am-10pm. They open early and close late - much later than most coffee shops. RESERVING TABLES/GAMING: I'm not versed in tabletop games, so I can't speak to that, but I've overheard people saying that if you want to play tabletop, this is the place to do it. In terms of reserving tables, it's $5/person for 2 hours from 5-10pm, but I believe it's free 7am-5pm. However, it's very easy after a few visits to earn the reward of a free 2 hour reservation. I believe you can reserve any of the different types of seating options. People reserving tables has never been an issue for seating, I've stayed as late as 8/8:30pm with no issue. REWARDS: After maybe 7 visits, I was able to get $5 off.
