I reserved an order a week prior to my event for popcorn, cotton candy, a helium tank. I asked if he wanted a PayPal deposit but he rebuffed citing a preference for cash. These machines were reserved for me. A day before, I asked to cancel my helium tank and he called immediately to tell me that he "loses money" on these cancellations. So he promptly informed me that he'll be cancelling my order citing "unavailable machines". This is the day before my event. Very unprofessional to be cancelling a deal last minute like this. If the machines were really unavailable, then why wait to inform me AFTER I requested to cancel? A professional would've let me know way earlier. Either way, I ended up booking with Manny for the same price but for only 2 machines. I'd rather pay extra for someone who cares about professional relationships. Steve was super tentative to what I needed. He responded to my messages promptly and was patient and kind enough to answer all of my annoying questions. The tables and chairs that I rented was delivered to us the night before my son's 1st birthday party (as promised). I ordered white tablecloths and chair covers and they were neatly washed and in clean condition. For the return of the items, all we had to do was place them all in one area for pick up the following day. I contacted Steve several days before my Christmas Eve party to rent 3 patio heaters for our outdoor area. He was very quick to answer my inquiries via Yelp message, and has very affordable prices (his prices were the best, when I did a comparison to other rentals in my area). I had to make a last minute change in the number of heaters that I needed for my party the day of the event and he was very understanding and accommodating. When I met up with him in person, he was very kind, and professional in helping us load the heaters onto the back of our truck. I was very skeptical when booking this company due to a few bad reviews. But I decided to give it a shot because I was too busy looking elsewhere. I tried to reach Steve by phone two times but he did not reply so I decided to message him through Yelp. He actually replied faster through there. But I found out he prefers to reach him through text which is kinda weird. Anywhoooo...everything went smoothly on the day of. We needed the stuff by Saturday and he dropped it off on Friday already. Very punctual with timing. We ordered one 20x20 tent with 3 walls for $85, and 7 six feet rectangle tables for $4 each. I think he has the best price in town. That Saturday was kinda hot so 3 walls made it even hotter. So maybe no wall is better!! Steve was very nice to offer lights for us as well but we didn't need it. You need extra space beside the 20x20 in order for him to set up but he managed to work his magic and made it work since my yard is 20x24. Found out Steve does this on all his own so I'm very impressed. I know setting up them tent is hard work yo! So we made sure to tip him good & offered him goodies to thank him. We were booking fairly late but Steve was straight forward and very accommodating. Further more, his prices best out everyone else by at least 30%. He delivered on the day (Friday) as expected. On Saturday, wife had a change of heart on colors and Steve invited me to his new store to pick out what I wanted. How cool was that? (His appeal to help was tremendous). We cleaned up after the party late on Saturday and stacked everything up, went to sleep, and when we woke up in the morning, I sent Steve a message around 9 that he could pick up. Booking through VIP was such a breeze. I was a little nervous because it was my first time renting for a party. I like the fact that he does everything himself from start to finish. Everything was done through Yelp messenger. Steve responded quickly to all my questions. His store actually offered the best prices. He was able to deliver my order the night before the event. He set up the two 10 x 20 canopies pretty fast and was able to unload all 65 chairs, 12 6ft tables and table cloths, 6 chafing dishes in about 30 minutes. I commend him for his great customer service as well. He said that if we ever needed anything else, just let him know and he will be able to drop it off since we're pretty close to his shop. I also forgot to borrow an ice chest from family earlier so I took a chance and asked him if he has one for rent. He said he doesn't normally rent it out since it's his own but he let us use it anyway. He dropped it off the morning of the party. What a lifesaver! We originally scheduled for him to pick up the rentals later that night. However, the party ended later than expected, plus we were already all so tired so we just messaged him and asked if he can pick up the next day and he gladly said yes. What is your worst rental nightmare? The rental company bails on you at the last minute and this is exactly what Steve did to me. I am an event planner so I have dealt with dozens of rental companies and never has a company acted so unprofessional to only send a text saying they can't "help with my party" and then cowardly not answer their phone or return my calls. You get what you pay for. His prices are only cents cheaper than other places so spend the few extra bucks to go with a better company so you'll have peace of mind. So I felt it was very necessary to edit my review based on an unbelievable phone call I just received. After leaving a review simply stating "I have heard great things about this company but unable to contact business after reaching out to them for a week" I get a call back one hour later from a man completely defensive and obnoxious about the review I left. When calling he did not state he was calling to reply to my service request but wants to know why I gave him a bad review. I politely explained to him it was not anything negative said only the truth that I was not being responded to. When I dont even live in that city and the party is being held in the same city the business is being ran out of. He continued on to saying in a real arrogant tone well you shouldn't have given me a bad review because this is his business and blah blah blah... I again explained to him I wasn't trying to be malicious I just was expressing the facts. He then went on to say that i looked for several different people to provide this service and didnt leave them a bad review and I told him thats because they answered and simply said they can provide the service or they caint. I also added, two days before my party the walls and light for the canopy and he had them available at no charge. It's the best price I have ever had. We've rented tablecloths last minutes from VIP party shop for our parents' 70th anniversary. We called Steve on 07/03/14 and they were delivered on 4th of July! This past weekend it was my first time using them for my party rental necessities. It was great experience. Communication was a plus, and they arrived at the exact scheduled time for pick up and drop off. All the equipment was clean and in a very good condition. No cracks or stained chairs or tables.
