We were in the Valley visiting my Dad and was searching for a breakfast spot, I found this hidden gem in Elsa, Texas... I highly recommend this place!! Great service, super friendly, nice atmosphere and the food was amazing! I had Tres lechas French toast with a Latte and my husband had Green eggs and ham meal. Need to go back to try their hummingbird cake as it wasn't ready :-( Definitely going back again when I'm visiting my Dad again

I was pleasantly surprised of this place and why I'm actually writing this review. Their customer service was outstanding, and the place feels like you're eating at home. Bread and sauces is homemade. Will not break your wallet and a plethora of desserts. I loved their chicken fried chicken with a side of three cheese Mac and mashed potatoes with country gravy. I highly recommend. I'm definitely coming back.

Do yourself a favor and take whatever road leads you to this amazing little gem. With a menu that would get Guy Fieri's attention, this little diner has something for everyone. Looking for breakfast? Great! They serve breakfast all day. Hoping for a sandwich? Hope no more, they've got you covered. Were you craving a classic monte cristo? Say. Less. Do yourself a favor and drop into this family-owned eatery. You won't be disappointed (and yes they do bake their bread daily, make their own dressings and many of their own sauces - you really shouldn't take my word for it, though).

Such a wonderful place to eat. Food so amazing. Homemade everything so for those of u who bitch and moan about prices being a lil higher than crap ass Dennys or IHOP, you're cheap. Not only was the food spectacular, the ladies that run this place are so sweet kind, funny, and attentive. I had the banana nut French toast , my wife had the tres leches French toast, and daughter had waffles. Everything was hot and delicious. Can't wait to come back and have their chicken fried steak Thank you ladies. Loved it! Also thanks for complimenting my voice haha

Wonderful host and superb food! The food was Cooked fresh and quality was excellent. We came in right at opening time (9am) and greeted by the staff with a warm welcome. We walked by a fresh array of cakes and breakfast beverages. I absolutely loved the fact that this type of restaurant is close by. Highly recommend if your looking for good quality Americana breakfast.

One of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to! Everything my family and I have tried has been delicious, high in quality, and obvious that a lot of care was put in. The tres leches french toast and vanilla latte are absolutely next level and have been my favorite to order, however their savory meals never disappoint either. We also love the soft jazzy music they play; to me it tastes just like the food you eat there. The service is always very kind and welcoming, and every small detail from the quality maple syrup to the fresh strawberries makes the experience one of a kind. Definitely worth the drive out

A charming little cafe only 20 min away from me. It's in Ed Couch and well worth the drive. Shabby-chic decor all bright & Christmasy. Sure put me in the spirit! We went for brunch. I had the monte cristo. So delicious!! My sister said the pancakes were great too! Everything is freshly made. All from scratch. The owner is hands-on. Very friendly place. I want to go back and have breakfast. They have wonderful deserts too. Strawberry lemonade! I recommend the cucumber lemonade. So refreshing!! We suggested adding tequila or rum.....

OMG! How to even find the words to describe Gigis. This charming diner offers an array of only the most delicious dishes. To name a few there's Tres Leches French Toast, Chicken Fried Steak, Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, 3 Cheese Mac... now I feel like should've snapped a pic of the menu cause basically everything listed is mouthwatering. The owner were amazing and walked us through the menu and suggested a few fan faves. We stopped in on our drive to South Padre and are tempted to drive back everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Oh! This place serves breakfast all day. Bottom line, if you find yourself passing through Edcouch, you HAVE to go to Gigis!

This is def a hidden gem in south Texas ! I will definitely go again, and hear great things about their breakfast. My meatloaf was so good. My family ordered the chicken Alfredo and chicken fried chicken and man their plates were amazing . The only reason it isn't getting a five star is because the food was a lil pricey to me with upcharges for tons of stuff. Flavor wise the only negatives where my mash was a lil bland, and my extra side of veggies was a lil too oily. The owner however did take the time to make conversation which was very pleasant and thoughtful. You can tell she definitely wants everyone who walks in to have a welcomed experience.

Great staff and even better food. Huge fan of breakfast and this place hits the spot. Nice crispy waffles, good size pancakes (one is probably enough), and distinct and unique breakfast plates. And don't miss talking to the owner. She's a hoot and will make sure you're well taken care of. Definitely a place we'll add to our regular spots.

Awesome little place for some good southern comfort food (breakfast/brunch). Not familiar with the area and from Miami. I was in the mood for a really good French Toast. Looked up this spot and 16 miles away from my hotel there it was.... Gigi's Restaurant & Cafe... A small place but big in service, food quality and friendly owners... Mari & Gigi... Gigi herself took my order. Mari just made me feel right at home with her sense of humor and great conversation while drinking there famous Vanilla Latte... with fresh home made vanilla extract..you gotta go to this place... highly recommend it.... going back to try their dinner menu....

This is my #1 place for the best comfort food and dessert in the RGV. It's a little hidden gem in Edcouch. The owners are amazing . Our food was made to perfection. The portions are perfect enough to leave room for dessert.

The whole time we were there folks kept coming in! We tried the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The sandwich was huge! The biscuit was buttery and flaky and very good - it was a 'different' flavor than 'traditional' biscuits - but it was great! We shared an order of biscuits and gravy. It was very good - again, a different flavor than any I've ever had - but again, really really good. It almost had a chicken fried chicken flavor to the gravy - whatever it was - very good. We shared a side of black refried beans. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had black refried beans - refried pinto beans all the time but not black refried. These did not disappoint - they had the definite homemade flavor of truly great refried beans - I would eat these again for sure. I had the ribeye burrito which came with medium rare strips of ribeye; strips of avocado; cheese; potatoes; and refried black beans. I don't like sour cream so I left that off. The burrito itself was grilled which added to it. The salsa was good and had a good balance of heat. Another win. One of our group had the oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries due to dietary restrictions. It was also very good - which was surprising for oatmeal. The oatmeal itself was baked, which is also rarely done. We would definitely come back when we ate in town next time. Different flavors than the 'norm' and all of them very good. Do yourself a favor and check this place out - you'll be glad you did!

Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out to us. The pancakes were pretty dense, and while you could definitely taste the poppyseed, we didn't get much lemon flavor from them.
