    Loaded Hashbrowns and Eggs*

Stopped in for breakfast! The hubby's Spanish omelette was really good. A plus, they have fresh jalapeños. This is a big deal for my man. I ordered the loaded hashbrowns! Yummy .

I've been coming to Grapevine Cafe for years. Service has always been friendly, prices are reasonable, and it scratches the brunch itch when you're in the area. The problem is I keep forgetting why I stopped coming, and then I come back and remember. Twice now, two years apart, I've made the mistake of ordering the chicken and waffles. You'd think I'd learn. Both times the chicken was so overcooked it was practically jerky. Dry, tough, hard to chew. I don't know what's happening in that kitchen but the chicken needs significantly less time in whatever it's touching. Well-executed fried chicken should have a crust with some snap and meat that's still got moisture in it. This had neither. The wife and I split the banana french toast on the most recent visit hoping to salvage something from the meal. It was fine in the way that something sweet and warm is technically fine, but it was too sugary and didn't leave any impression worth describing. Forgettable. This is a place with decent bones. The staff is good. The prices won't offend you. But the kitchen is not delivering, at least not on what we've ordered, and I've now given it the same chance twice across two years. Writing this mostly as a note to myself: stop ordering the chicken and waffles. Or maybe just stop coming for a while until something changes.

Beach bumming all day had me worn out and I needed a little pick me up for the long evening ahead. Spotted this little coffee shop on the way to dinner and pulled in for a quick iced coffee. I saw Vietnamese coffee on the menu and just had to give it a go and I'm glad I did! The coffee was dark and strong and was balanced by the sweet and creamy condensed milk. Such a lucky find and I'll be back for a morning brew and will try out their breakfast options!

I loved this place. So good and so cute Eggs and bacon were amazing! I got the gluten free pancakes were not that good (according to my gluten free friend) they were kinda hard and not fluffy. But they had goat cheese and I love goat cheese so it made up for it. Potato's are good. I would not recommend going here if you're in a hurry because the food takes a while but the servers were sweet and gave us a discount and chips + salsa. Coffee was also good. I loved the booth we sat in.

We had a delightful breakfast at Grapevine Cafe during our stay in SPI. We were really only looking for coffee, but sat for breakfast anyway ... when in Rome! There is a separate entrance if coffee only is what you want! So glad we stayed... Jesse was our server, did a great job. A couple of lattes started us off (3 shots espresso/ 20 oz for me!), the coffee was delicious, and served HOT, as we like it! Our lunch was avocado toast and a shrimp omelette ... both were delicious! All ingredient were super fresh, served fresh! A very good breakfast, we'd definitely go back! Highly recommend!

    Bug in my water.

Came here for my birthday brunch and found a bug in my water. The server showed no concern, not even an apology. Just a new water. Then to top it off he told me since it's my bday he'd bring me a desert. After I brought up the bug he cancelled my desert.

I ordered a some drinks for the table (coffees, smoothies, and orange juice and a water) after being seated (no wait at all, the place was not busy). After 20 minutes I had received about half the drinks and had not seen a waitress at all. I eventually had to go track someone to get the check for the drinks I had received, having never gotten the rest of the drinks or a chance to order food. Again, the place was not busy, there was no wait to be seated, and I counted four waiters working 7 tables including ours. The waitress did, however, comp the three drinks we received.

We came for Labor Day weekend, this place was a 5 minute walk from our condo & it was great! The restaurant it pretty big in the inside. We got seated within the first 10 minutes, I suggest getting on the waitlist Ordered the chicken & waffles so good 10/10 My friend got avocado on toast 8/10 (egg became too runny, was hard to eat toward the end) Also got the Huevo a la Mexican with chorizo 9/10 (it was more chorizo based than pico de gallo) Can't wait to be back on the island and try this place again

I've been eating brunch here for the longest time and honestly it's probably the number one place that I love to eat breakfast while I'm on the island. It's so delicious and they have really great coffee.. The service is very good and the restaurants decorated really nicely. I had these huge tacos for breakfast.

The ambiance is a welcoming cafe with a modern vibe and the service is very friendly and accommodating. The food is very good, and worth a small wait for. This is the only brunch spot we have tried on the island but I think it would be hard to beat.

I want to start by saying that the honey and I come here often. We've tried multiple items on the menu and we come all year round Food is always spot on, plenty served for each entree Service is pretty standard most days and some days it's definitely better. Ambiance is great if you come in on a slower day / time, some days, especially during spring break are chaotic, long waits and very busy Show up early, enjoy some good house coffee and a breakfast taco

Didn't get any photos of our breakfast but the coffee. The food and staff was all wonderful. Everyone was kind and the food and coffee was delicious and came out hot. Portions were huge. My 3 year old had the kids pancake with scrambled eggs, my husband loved the crab cake Benedict with hash browns and I enjoyed the bananas foster pancakes and eggs. The coffee was hot and not too sweet!

    Is it pet friendly?

They do have a few outside patio tables for dining with pets.

Do you guys accept Apple Pay?

Sorry, not yet. It is in process and thanks for asking because it reminds me to follow up!

Do you have any dairy free or vegetarian options?

For Breakfast we have many vegetarian but vegan options are limited to a couple of options. We have fresh berries with gluten free granola, coconut milk and yogurt(hold the yogurt). We have a loaded hash skillet where the protein and cheese can be…

Is this a pet friendly outdoors place for brunch? Will be traveling next weekend with my husband and we will also be bringing our 2 small dogs with us.

Yes, we are pet friendly with outdoor seating and accommodate indoors for service dogs.

I'd love to bring a large group (27) for a wedding brunch, but is it Pet friendly?

We have 3 outdoor tables that are shaded directly visible through the adjacent glass. We can accommodate with bowls for food and water as well. We are a small cafe that gets very busy. I hope I’ve answered your question.

When I entered, I observed an older man behind the counter. There was also a woman behind the counter who appeared to be accustomed to his behavior. I'm assuming he is the owner, although I cannot say that for certain. I'm not sure why the woman did not take our order or offer assistance. We waited approximately ten minutes without receiving service. During that time, the man was continually talking over the interactions taking place, including making a joke involving sexual orientation toward a young customer and his father. I found the comment inappropriate and uncomfortable, particularly given the age of the customer. After waiting for approximately ten minutes and experiencing the slow service and the man continually talking over the interactions, we decided to leave so we could continue with our plans. We did not leave because of the joke. As we were leaving, the same man remarked to us, "There's a coffee shop across the street that doesn't tell gay jokes." I found this comment particularly presumptuous because we had not told him why we were leaving, and we had not made any comments about the earlier interaction. He simply assumed that the joke was the reason we were leaving, when it was actually the lack of service and the overall interaction that led us to leave. I also found the atmosphere of the establishment itself to be uncomfortable. The entire place was very dark, poorly lit, and strangely decorated, which did not create a particularly welcoming environment. If I could offer one piece of advice to the owner or staff, it would be simple: keep the unnecessary commentary to yourself and focus on providing good customer service and serving coffee. If I wanted jokes, I would go to a comedy show--not a coffee shop. I especially never would have expected to encounter jokes about sexual orientation at a coffee shop while visiting with my 16-year-old. Regardless of someone's personal sense of humor, there is a time and place for those types of comments, and in my opinion, a customer-facing business is not the place for them. Overall, what should have been a simple visit to purchase coffee left me uncomfortable, disappointed, and with no desire to return. I believe customers should be treated respectfully and professionally, and that good customer service should be the priority. So I would what he says and go across that street like he says

I arrived around 10:30am on a Friday, and although the restaurant was packed, was seated immediately at the bar. Our server greeted me promptly, took my drink order, and returned with my Spanish Macchiato. It was easily the highlight of the meal--absolutely five-star worthy. Not only was it Instagram-worthy, but it tasted just as good as it looked. Creamy, rich, and infused with notes of Mexican chocolate and cinnamon, it was one of the best specialty coffees I've had in a while and the artistry was incredible. For brunch, I ordered the CLEO (a lox bagel with egg) and the SPI Breakfast Platter. The CLEO had great flavors--the smoked salmon was fresh. My biggest critique was that the soft bagel, warm egg, and lox lacked a bit of textural contrast. Even so, the individual components were delicious. The SPI Breakfast Platter was hearty, well-executed, and exactly what you'd hope for from a classic breakfast. I'd love to come back the next time I'm in South Padre and try their lunch menu, the dessert case was very enticing.

Everything's been updated and it shows. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends. Service was rough. Our server was a serious quiet talker, and I mean barely audible, like she was trying not to wake someone up. Between that and the long stretches between check-ins, the meal felt a little adrift. I started with the avocado fries. They looked the part but tasted like almost nothing. I kept waiting for something to land and it never did. My main was the barbacoa plate, which was intensely dry and aggressively salty . The kind of salt that makes you drain a water glass before you're halfway through. This could have been a solid dish. It wasn't. And here's the thing: the gas station across the street sells barbacoa that's genuinely better. I'm not being cute. That's just true. My wife had the coconut shrimp. Forgettable. The food here looks good. It photographs well. But there's a gap between presentation and flavor that's hard to overlook, especially when the concept has enough ambition to make you expect more. For what we paid, "it looked pretty" isn't a satisfying consolation prize. I hope they find their footing, the space deserves it. But I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back.
