If you want Mexican breakfast, this is a good spot to check out. The service is excellent too. Portions are good size and the seasoning is good.

Fruit was going bad and still served.

Place is overrated, food wasn't flavorful or too salty. Tortillas were hard when received. The water station was unsanitary and next to the dirty dishes area, and when we got water there was lime pulp in it for some reason. Don't get fresh fruit expecting it to be edible.

For my Los Angeles friends, the Tex Mex version of Migas is scrambled eggs with a mix in of corn tortilla chips. It often includes jalapenos and onions, which is how I remember it. So simple, so good, so like my grandma used to make. Jose's Cafecito nailed it! Jose's Cafecito is located behind and attached to Hotel Cortez in Downtown Weslaco. Service is excellent and I'm sure the other menu items are as well. I hope to find out on a return visit sometime in the future. Tomorrow, I must continue to explore the local diners. But I will be back.

Lovely restaurant with delicious fajitas and good service. Super attentive staff and a fun ambiance. Very easy dining with a toddler.

Some of the dishes were tasty, while others took a swing and missed. Atmosphere was sparse, but it was clean.

I requested beef fajitas, two cheddar cheese enchiladas, a crispy corn taco with ground beef filling. The plate included rice and beans, guacamole and a choice of tortillas. I asked for flour. When my plate arrived the food looked hot, tasty and freshly made. After giving everything on my plate a try, here is my subjective assessment of the meal. Again, this was my only visit so I didn't try anything else. Service: 5 out 5, servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. You can tell they take pride in their jobs. They all wore matching black T-shirts. They refilled my drink and stopped by to ask if I needed anything else. Atmosphere: 5 out 5, not fancy but who cares. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. It feels like it's been there since 1972. Food: 3 out 5, although the items on my plate looked fresh and tasty, I felt only two items really stood out. The crispy taco was the best item on my plate. It was crunchy and delicious. The flour tortillas were freshly made and delicious. However, the beef fajitas were bland and chewy. The cheese enchiladas seriously lacked flavor. The cheese filling and enchilada sauce could and should have been better. The rice and refied beans were flavorless. Overall, the flavors were muted and I would say needed more seasoning. I wanted to give it a higher rating. I may try going again in the future but I'll order something different. They serve breakfast too.

They're famous for their lonches, but this time I tried something different, and was not disappointed. The red enchilada sauce was fantastic, definitely homemade, and the seasoning they used to roast the vegetables is very good. The red and green salsas were very good, one spicier than the other for anyone's taste. Service is always amazing, friendly and polite staff. I always recommend Nana's to anyone new to the Valley. However, the food is overpriced and the service we received was dismissive. There were a lot of flies inside, and we found a fly in our margarita after a couple of sips. When we brought this up to the server, no apologizes were made and it was brushed over. We were told they replaced it with a new one, but the glass we received after was the exact same level it had been previously, which we were told was due to restaurant policy. Important to note, the "full" glass we were given not even a full glass. We returned the drink due to not feeling confident in the change. Would not recommend this place, and would recommend driving out to some of the other further restaurants in the area!

Today, I came for breakfast AND lunch. It's obviously a local favorite as both breakfast & lunch get busy quickly & I keep seeing familiar faces... I guess I'm becoming a regular too ! It's an older building/establishment but, don't let exterior/interior appearances fool you, they are clean! My co-workers who've been nearby for more than 10 yrs had never been because of that & now they all love it! I'd rather keep it that way to keep it's character & not drive up prices. As I said before, it's a small mom & pop restaurant and if you love & appreciate authentic Mexican home-made food...THIS IS IT! Their chicken mole is my favorite (not sweet), the best I've had other than my Grandma's (only served Thursdays). Great salsa, homemade tortillas & sweet tea. They also have American & seafood which are just as delicious. Breakfast is served all day. The owner & staff are very friendly & helpful. The food is fresh, well served, comes out very quickly & at VERY affordable prices! Lunch specials are only $5.25 (regular plates are no more than $10 except for botanas/sombreros which are also well priced)! Beats fast food combo prices & definitely much more satisfying! I would certainly eat here everyday if I could! *Tip: not open for dinner (I think they close around 3:00 pm but, you can call to find out).

First for the good things: the restaurant itself is super cute and it feels like you're eating inside of an old house, and the salsas that they brought out for our food (the two pictured) were quite good. Now for the not so good things. Service was not the best. Our waitress was friendly but it seemed like she was overwhelmed. She brought us our drinks and the first salsa and said she would come back with chips. She then never came back and began attending to other tables. We had to remind her about the chips. She then brought out the food and I was brought the wrong order. My boyfriend patiently waited for me to get my food so we could eat, but I felt bad because his food was getting cold. The food was not good. Nothing had flavor and almost everything needed salt. The first salsa needed salt, and our food needed salt. My migas tasted like nothing. The beans were good and were not canned beans and, as I stated above, the two salsas she brought out were good, but that was it. The salsas salvaged my food because otherwise it had no flavor. One of our forks was also filthy and had old cheese on it, so we couldn't use it. We weren't the only ones having issues. The table next to us was another couple and the husband was also brought out the incorrect order but his wife was given the correct order. The waitress (same as ours) took forever to bring him his food and his wife said her food was getting cold while waiting for his food. The husband did not want to remind the waitress and we heard him say, "I want to see how long it takes her to remember my food." We decided we would not be back. Not sure what the hype is because we just didn't see it.
