Do not visit downtown Yakima WITHOUT stopping here! Gilbert Cellers serves exceptional food and wine (made nearby). During my last visit to the area, I stopped here twice! Appears this tasting room in downtown also offers live music! Just a hop, skip and a jump from Seattle! My first visit there was about 5 years ago and my most recent this past June, 2015. If you are not going eastbound on I-90 anytime soon, pick up a bottle of your favorite red or white wine at your favorite store from Gilbert and get motivated for a road trip! read more

Oh Gilbert Cellars, you rock the salsa and I love you. Every Thursday night there are free salsa lessons downstairs at 7 PM (or is it 7:30?), and for a mere five dollars, you can dance until 11 PM. Not only that, but the place is filled with all levels of dancers including several instructors, and all it takes is a quick lesson and you're on your way to shakin' it like a polaroid picture. Most of the dancers are part of the Yakima/Ellensburg/TriCities salsa trifecta, and are a friendly bunch. Everyone is easy going, and sometimes it's fun to just sit back and watch the experienced dancers make salsa look like love rolled in sexy sprinkles and dipped in chocolate. Wine was great, if I was rating the wine it would be a 5! The tasting room is simple and comfortable. The service was unacceptable to say the least. Very biased views of the wine made for completely incompetent service. The man who served my husband and I was rude from the start to finish. From judging us by our age and looks to pouring us less than half a normal tasting and filling the couple next to us nearly a 6oz pour for the same tastings. This server was arrogant and showed conceited behavior towards us. We loved the wine however and hopefully we can come back to better service. read more

I was disappointed. There were three of us that came in on a Saturday evening. The customer load was steady, but not booming per se. (No one was waiting for a table). We all chose to do wine tastings. I'm no newbie to wine tasting, but one of our party had never done it before. Basically, the gal brought our first glass, didn't say anything about the wine other than what it was (no tasting notes, or origin, etc.) then walked away to talk to her friend behind the bar. Gilbert Cellars is one of those "must visit" places in Yakima. If you are looking for an upscale urban wine bar atmosphere, this is the place to be! Huge fan of the Malbec, and their Gewurtzraminer is one of the best I have tasted (and I am not usually a fan of whites). Plus, they have Cougar Gold cheese on the menu, which pretty much sells itself! Ask the server about the Gilbert family story...this is truly a local, family-run winery with a lot of history in the Valley. There is usually a family member or two either working or sipping. There is also fun live music in the downstairs area most weekends, and usually rotating art shows as well. If you join their wine club, you can also get a peek at The Cave where they do special events/tour the production facility when they have their wine club member parties. Definitely a Yakima gem! read more

The wine from Gilbert Cellars is easily my favorite in all of Washington! Their tasting room is the perfect spot to stop in for a glass or two & the employees are very knowledgable. We really enjoyed our stop at Gilbert Cellars. The ambiance is awesome, rustic neveaux, with some lovely outdoor seating. The wines were delicious, we ended up with a bottle of the Left Bank to enjoy with dinner (they let you take bottles next door to the restaurant 5 North with no corkage fee, yay!) but the Malbec was also a favorite with amazing flavor. They do serve food but note that they have a limited menu on Sundays. Price points are well within reason for the quality of wine. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back here, it was great! read more

On a recent trip out to visit my husband (he is in school), we decided to head downtown Yakima to check out Gilbert Cellars. The atmosphere inside is great, feels like you aren't in eastern washington! The bartender was very fun, relatively knowledgeable, and extremely conversational. We tasted wines for a very fair fee and I don't think there was a single one we didn't like. They were all delicious. Look, I am no expert, but I know what I like and what type of drinkability I like, and I liked their wine. We left with a couple bottles, and we will for sure be back! read more

The Bacon wrapped dates are a must, really. There isn't a whole lot of food on the menu other then two paninis and cheese plates, but those are good. Some local wine and local beer, and even French press coffee. The outdoor space is good when the sun starts to set when it is cooler out. You can do some interesting local people watching, good yakima characters. Overall, went here twice on a winery trip in eastern Washington and was pleased with laid back but more classy nature to the place (for Yakima). read more

We stopped in for a wine tasting on a Wednesday afternoon and had a great time! The wines were all really good, but the cab and port were especially great. So much so that we purchased a couple of bottles. Kelly, who was taking care of us was great and generous with her pours. She was also very knowledgable about the wines and had recommendations on what else we could do during our stay. We will definitely return when we are back in Yakima! read more

We participated in the Wine Wednesday's impromptu educational opportunity. It was amazing! Brody shared a vast amount of pertinent information as we tasted 3 superb wines from the Gilbert library. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates, hummus, cheese flight, pickles, salmon mousse, and white bean prosciutto. All were beautifully prepared, fresh and extremely tasty! enjoyed a very relaxed tasting at Gilbert Cellars during a wine tasting trip to Yakima. Our hostess, Gloria, was extremely knowledgeable on the wines despite only moving to the area from California last September. A normal flight of 5 wines was $5 but you could taste extra wines for $1.50 each. We decided to taste everything since they were our last stop of the day. The wines were all excellent quality but we were particularly taken by the Reds. The 2013 Malbec was especially good. We ended up buying a case and can't wait to taste them at home! read more

My wife and I came here on a saturday night at around 6:30 and we were the only ones here. I was a little worried. Our waitress was very nice and have good recommendations. Great wines! One thing to really try if you like cheese is the Beecher's No Woman and D'affinois cheeses. Amazing! One tip is that of you want to wine taste, come in before 5 but you'll have to sit at the bar. read more

We visited this tasting room in 2010, and it was our first stop on our return to Yakima in 2012. Excellent wines, served in a bistro environment. Tapas are available, but we opted just to taste wines for a modest fee. Every wine was well made, but the reds (all 2009's and a 2010 Syrah) will need a more time in bottle to open up and show at their best. The winemaker happened to be there, and we had a most intersting and informative conversation with him. Highly recommended for those who are serious about serious wines. read more
