Knight Hill is the furthest out of the Zillah wineries at the top of a hill with a 360 degree view of the valley below. They have a small production of wine and currently sell only directly from their winery. The tasting fee was $10, waived with the purchase of one bottle. Their pricing is very reasonable. They produce mostly reds but there was one white and one sold out Rose when we visited. The winery is owned by a couple whose home is on the property. No food is available. There is a large patio space and a small indoor space. read more

What an awesome find on my business trip to Toppenish WA. I stayed at this boutique winery on the most beautiful hillside via Airbnb. Stunning scenery, beautiful animals and wine!!!! The reds are bursting with flavor. They are sure to please any palate. Knight Hill Vineyard is perched on top of a hill and has a beautiful view of the surrounding Rattlesnake Hills and the Yakima Valley below. It is worth the meandering drive through the apple orchards and vineyards to get there. Now that you know about how pretty it is up there, if the weather is nice and you are smart, you will pack yourself a picnic and have a leisurely lunch outside on the grass or on the picnic table. It is situated so that you have a view of the lovely valley below. We tried all the wines. We did not care for any of the whites and poured each one out. We were not sure if we were going to like anything. But then we tried the Mourvèdre; a spicy and full bodied wine that was so well done that we bought two bottles. The tasting room is nice but is nothing memorable and the restroom is an outside portable. Out of all the wines, only one, the Mourvèdre was good. It is quite a drive to get there but the view is lovely and it is a nice picnic spot and the Mourvèdre is really good. read more

Up and coming new winery. We tasted 3 wines today: a red blend, a dry riesling (and I mean dry.... I'm normally not a riesling fan), and a chardonnay. He also barrel tasted his syrah and mourvedre....they will be tasty! They are down to earth and unpretentious. Recommend for a new, cool winery. read more

Wonderful first stop on our wine weekend tour of the Yakima Valley / Red Mountain area. We continually questioned if we were going in the right direction as signage was limited, but we made it in the end after getting on to a gravel road. The tasting room was in a little barn and had a lovely view. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy and windy but we'll have to return for a sunny day. For most of the time we were the only people in the tasting room, which is always nice especially when you don't know much about the area. Terry was a pleasure to chat with and was very helpful. The wines themselves were pretty solid and they had a nice variety of whites and reds (which we quickly learned is rare in that area). We particularly enjoyed the lightly-oaked chardonnay and the Rooks Red blend, but really almost everything we tried we would drink again. Unfortunately we missed out on the Mouvedre everyone is raving about :( Would definitely return and recommend to anyone, especially if you want a little break from only tasting reds. read more

I loved Knight Hill! I was surprised by how delicious their wine is, considering how new they are. And the people that own it are just wonderful. The land is gorgeous. And come on - I was greeted by Dixie the German Shepard who waited for her luvins and then guided us to the front door. Who wouldn't love that? Once inside she left us to our wine sipping and retired to a warm patch of sun on the floor. Left here with two bottles - will definitely be back the next time we're out that way. read more

My friend and I had such a wonderful time at this winery. The view was amazing. The wine tasting was wonderful, and probably one of the best priced wine tasting I've been to. Winery at the end of the road...great way to end the day. Terry was very hospitable and friendly. We enjoyed all of the wines with the late harvest "accident" being our fave! Nice view in a comfortable, relaxing spot. Not fancy or pretentious, the bathroom is a port-a-potty, no big deal for us. I was determined to try out Knight Hill in Zillah as I had never been there before. It was off the beaten path, up in the hills, along a gravel road. We finally got to the end of the gravel road, what seemed like the top of the hill. What a view!! Dixie, the German Shepard wine dog was right there to greet us happily. And they have wine cats, twin sister calicos. Ok, back to the wine! They had their first crush in 2008 so they're fairly new. The tasting room is still undergoing renovations, but I loved it as we saw it...have I mentioned the 360 degree view? I tried the chardonnay, dry Riesling, roundtable red (a blend of primarily merlot), and then their syrah and mourvedre from the barrel. Their chardonnay was crisp and fruity while their dry Riesling was more effervescent, both very tasty. The Roundtable red was a fantastic table wine, and I had to buy some because I certainly intend to bring a bottle of the Roundtable to dinner parties. The syrah and mourvedre that we tasted out of the barrel were both already so good! The syrah, so full of flavor and smooth and the mourvedre so light and fruity. We're definitely going back because I can't wait to taste more. read more

Our visit to Knight Hill winery could not have been a more perfect introduction to Yakima Valley wines. The winery is perched on the highest hill in the area with beautiful views of vineyards and orchards, surrounded by rolling hills. Mount Rainier and Mount Adams were also in sight. Winemakers Terry and Anne Harrison welcomed us and introduced us to their delicious wines, especially the Mourvedre, Syrah and Cabernet. The whites were good, too, though I personally tend toward red wine. We also had a tour of the fermentation room and learned how much TLC they put into every batch of wine. I highly recommend their wines, which can be sipped out on the patio while enjoying the views. read more

Tasted eight wines and were impressed with a few of them, particularly the dry riesling (actually dry, comples and a bit herbacious), the red blend, and mourvedre (new bouquet entirely to me). I would recommend this winery over anything in Yakima Valley, which felt like a bit of a tourist trap to me. read more

One of my favorites!! As noted elsewhere an unusual variety of wines...wines not found elsewhere in the Rattlesnake Hills are their Mouvedre, an earthy marveous red and Vehelho, a fantastic crisp white. As a local I like riding my horse way up the hill, tying up and chatting with the Harrisons. Start at J. Bell at the bottom of Knight Hill Rd., and then drive to the very top and turn right. This is a beautiful winery!! I was so excited to exit our car and be greeted by their dog who led us to the tasting room (way cool). The view from the tasting room is absolutely amazing. The owners Terry and Anne are absolutely a delight. Now lets talk wine, I enjoyed all their wines (which were full of flavor). I especially enjoyed the Mouvedre and Rooks Red. Terry is the owner, and Amazing host. Of the vineyards we visited he had the best range of red and white wines - which is tough as white wines are hard to come by. His whites go from a mild sweet to a very light and somewhat dry taste. In addition Terry also rents out his basement apartment which is literally right on premise for about 100 a night. Which- is also amazing because the views from this apartment and vineyard are literally breathtaking!!! Best part his prices on wine range from affordable 20 to the not to exclusive 40 dollar area. Terry and Knight Hill should be a must stop of you are in search of whites, and a strongly considered vineyard even if you're not hunting white wine. read more

We ended our day of tasting at Knight Hill. The drive there is a real treat because of the lush orchards and beautiful cherry blossoms! What a beautiful place to relax and taste great wine. We bought the Rooks Red as well as the Chardonnay, which were both lovely. A neighbor helping out the winemakers took us back and gave us tastings straight from the barrel, which was a really special experience. The winemakers themselves gave me great advice about my own wine making endeavors as well! After almost a full day of tasting around the area, the ice water with lemons they provided us with was exactly what the doctor ordered!
