Vibes alone are 10/10 at this hotel. Design is unique and classic, and for a New York City hotel the size is quite big. Check in was a breeze, complimentary prosecco during happy hour, and the attached restart also had a great happy hour (times in picture). Espresso station in the lobby for morning coffee and two complimentary waters in the room. I booked this room a while back for our stay in the city this past weekend and it worked out really well for us. Gives the feel of a boutique hotel with the combo of modern vintage vibes. Located in the Financial District not too far from trade center - it was easy for us to get here from my parents' place in Jersey and convenient for hopping on the train/walking to other parts of the city. Service was great from the moment we got there. Doorman opened the door greeting us as we walked in; front desk attendant was very friendly, for us checked in quickly and offered us a welcome drink (we chose prosecco as our drinks). Each floor only has about 10 rooms max. The room was good, clean and spacious, especially for being in the city - it was almost 300 sq ft! For those who know, that's a lot for being in the city lol. I had a nice 2 night stay. The location is good for what I needed, room was decent size, and I was using Amex FHR benefits/credit, which meant it included breakfast, and a dinner. Staff are super nice. Complimentary mini bottles of water at the front. Downsides: - The rooms are dark, the restaurant is dimly lit - The lobby is tiny and bustling - The mattress wasn't that comfortable. - Room temp. Stayed in March and it got insanely hot in the room. I give Gild Hall 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Depending on what your standards are, I'd say this is an OK to good hotel in Lower Manhattan. It's in a great location in the Financial District, just a five-minute walk to Wall Street and 10-minute walks to the Brooklyn Bridge and 9/11 Memorial & Museum. We booked this hotel through American Express Travel for $955.04 for two nights. That worked out to $477.52 per night, which is the going-rate for a decent hotel in Manhattan in 2025. At checkout, we were separately charged $80.34 in what staff called a "resort fee." Our folio showed it included a nightly $35 "destination fee" along with nightly NYC 5.875% and NYS 8.875% taxes. Since this hotel is part of Amex's "Hotel Collection," we got the following benefits: 1. Our room was automatically upgraded to the hotel's largest king room. We had Room 36, a "Deluxe Room." 2. We had a $100 credit to use on eligible expenses at the hotel. We used it at the restaurant downstairs, Felice 15 Gold. We ended up not being able to use the entire $100 credit - something we experienced at a different hotel/resort earlier this year - because we couldn't eat/drink that much or find other things to spend the credit on. 3. We automatically got a late check-out at 12:00pm and were able to extend it to 12:30pm, despite the hotel being sold out the day we left, after calling and requesting the morning of. Standard checkout is 11:00am. Pending availability and if we had showed up early enough, we could have checked in as early as 12:00pm. Standard check-in time is 3:00pm. 4. Complimentary breakfast for two people each day of our stay. This was nice since the aforementioned hotel restaurant, Felice 15 Gold, was good. The complimentary breakfast at Felice 15 Gold is a smaller menu with smaller portions than the regular menu. Still good, though. Gild Hall is part of Hyatt's "Thompson Hotels" boutique hotel brand. It fits the boutique and "lifestyle" hotel type with gorgeous and artsy interior spaces. In regards to the interior design, the hotel is beautiful, from the lobby, bar, and restaurant to our room. It's stylish. Our room and the various common spaces were a bit cramped, but that's Manhattan for you. Our room was clean and comfortable, especially the bed. I sat at the desk a lot, which made getting around the room difficult for my wife due to the limited space. That's really our only big gripe with the room. The window AC worked well. I thought it was odd the bathroom had no vent fan. The bathroom did have Molton Brown products, which my wife told me is a luxury brand. The resort we stayed at in Mexico last year, Grand Velas Riviera Maya, stocked our bathroom with Molton Brown products as well. Our shower at Gild Hall had good water pressure. Our sink's cold water valve leaked during our stay. The hotel texted us during our stay to ask us how things were going. We reported this and they offered to send someone to fix it right away, but we declined. The leak wasn't a big deal to us and we didn't want to be bothered by someone else in our already tight room. Our room had a third-floor view of what I think were apartments or condos across the street. In our room, we could hear cars honking regularly (again, that's Manhattan for you). Gild Hall has 18 floors. There are two elevators. Late one night, someone threw up in one of the elevators and the elevator smelled absolutely terrible. It was cleaned up and the smell was gone the next morning. One of the elevators was down during part of our stay and it caused backups on several floors. Our room's TV was nice and big (I watched some golf) and the hotel's Wi-Fi was useable. I used our room's mini fridge to store takeout and leftovers from the hotel's restaurant. AMEX travel booking review Let me tell you about this Gild Hall! Treated like the Queen I am. I've been trying to visit this hotel for the past 10 months but it's always booked out or a little over my price range. This quick 2 day stay was perfect. I got in a bit late 10pm'ish, but that charming guy at the front desk, ROB, pre checked me in to secure my room and upgrade. He and the other evening staff (Sunday/Sydney?, and the other homie) gave me a warm welcome full of laughs and Prosecco. Rob gave me the details of my stay as an AMEX traveler. The guys made sure the restaurant I wanted to catch a late night bite at was safe enough to walk to. They also helped me plan out my day (I needed to kill some time prior to an event the next day). My room was clutch! Comfy bed and cozy bedding, a couple seating options, nice bathroom mirror and a full length mirror (cause women require it). Oddly enough I appreciated the steamer most lol. Didn't hear outside noise or neighbors. Plenty of walkable stores, restaurants, and attractions. Because the hotel is in the financial district, it seems deserted and sketch after 5pm, BUT there's a few walkable late night spots open and a 24-hour CVS that's surprisingly well stocked. Unfortunately, the Felicia restaurant was closed for an event my second day, so I couldn't experience happy hour, the bar and lobby lounge areas are such a vibe (was hoping to flirt with some financial bros. HAAA kidding. But not.), but--I was able to enjoy a bomb ass lunch curtesy of my AMEX $100 hotel credit. The restaurant food and service was great (posted separate review). Also the complementary brekky was good. Check out was a breeze, the young lady assisting me was quite pleasant. ROB appeared again cause apparently he don't sleep. They offered to secure car service, but I'm all a bout that train life. It's a fun break of the norm [LA driving] and it's the fastest/cheaper option to JFK. The room was clean, my bed was comfy, and I loved the lounge chair by the bed. I do wish the water pressure in the shower was a bit stronger. The hotel is about a 5-8 minute walk from the subway. Absolutely divine! Gild Hall is such a beautiful property. The lobby has the perfect welcoming vibe, stylish yet cozy. My room was gorgeous with a (somewhat) city view, an incredibly comfortable bed, and a cozy comforter that made for the best sleep. I slept amazingly for three nights in a row. Despite the hotel being large, it was peaceful and quiet, which I think makes it especially appealing for business travelers. The bath products were amazing, and the service was truly top-notch. Everything I needed, including a robe and toothbrush, was delivered right to my room quickly. The front desk staff was also wonderful: so polite, attentive, and genuinely helpful. A nice bonus: complimentary espresso drinks in the lobby each morning. Location couldn't be better. I had an event downtown and it was super convenient to get around. Fulton St. subway and Path trains are just a few blocks away, and the Wall Street ferry is nearby too, offering a quick and scenic 30-minute ride to the Upper East Side. I definitely want to return, and next time I'll be bringing my family along to experience it too. This was my first time staying in the finance district and this hotel. The interior style is not my style, but it was clean and the staff was extra friendly. My favorite thing about this hotel is the 3 pm prosecco pours! I also appreciate the staff assisting with finding reservations for dining experiences. A very nice hotel , lots of old-charm New York style . Our room was quite large and had a lot of outlets (a known issue in NYC hotels). All furniture felt very high quality . The service was ok although the water bottle supply was not consistent (we should have received 2 bottles every day , some days we did and some we did not ). Also our AC in the bedroom broke down twice in 4 nights and we had to wait for a technician t o fix it - he wasn't sure if it was fixed the 2nd time around and we just hoed for the best . An excellent hotel tucked away in the financial district, next to a few good shops and amenities (Soulcycle, chipotle) as well as most of Wall Street. I checked in on a Monday night and was having trouble with my card (international, fraud flagging etc), and they were super patient with me while we figured out how to get my card to work. They also had an option where I could send an online form to my husband to use his card, it was really smooth and fast and a lifesaver! Otherwise, the rooms are quite spacious with all standard hotel qualities. It's quiet at night in the area, and they have a full restaurant downstairs if you are looking for a bite. Fabulous, gorgeous, comfortable. Greeted warmly by staff, not only when I first checked in, but each time I came off the elevator. The hotel room, with its high ceilings and comfortable beds, made me wish I was able to stay for longer than I was. The room was spotless, and has blackout blinds that made for one of the best night's sleeps I've had in far too long! Gild Hall is also connected to one of my favorite Italian restaurants in New York, Felice. It's conveniently located by the 2 and 3 subway lines on Fulton Street, and only a few blocks from a few others. I definitely plan to stay there again and to recommend it to others. read more

Overall: Clean, comfortable, hip, and compact. I would choose this place again for my work trips. Bed - soft but the right amount of support for me. I'd say medium firm. Pillows were too soft but I usually bring my own foam travel pillow to save myself from neck pain. Blankets felt very cozy. Bathroom - Clean. Shower could do with some updates. It didn't quite match the lux feel they were going for. Reason 1: The shower handle was a bit finicky - it would turn scalding hot and icy cold quickly if you don't tap the adjustment just right. It took me a bit to find the right spot. Reason 2: The shower curtain. The curtain magnets weren't strong enough to keep it blowing inwards and getting in my way while I was showering and it was a very light curtain, not heavy in any way. No complaints about the towels - clean and comfortable. Not too rough. Room Lighting - Warm ambient lamps with the option of a brighter warm overhead chandelier. I prefer lamps. Temperature - I liked how I could control the temperature of the room. Space - Lots of counter options to place my stuff despite the compact space. Stylish too. Everything you need without feeling cramped. They also give you two complimentary water bottles, which was nice. Service - VERY welcoming. Five stars here. Friendly and helpful staff. I've stayed at Gild Hall twice, once by myself for two nights for work, and just recently for six nights with my wife to visit friends in the city. Both visits were great. The hotel has a cozy vibe, and the rooms are nicely appointed, and typically sized for NY (meaning a little tight, especially for two, but nothing extreme). It's in the perfect sweet spot of being upscale without being too fancy. Our interactions with the staff have been uniformly positive. The front desk workers are genuinely friendly and made me feel welcome on both visits. When I was here for work, I needed a document printed, and the gentleman at the desk went the extra mile to make sure I got that done, despite some problems with their printer. The hotel is well situated in the financial district. Easy to get the train to the east or west side, and basically halfway between midtown and Brooklyn, which was perfect for us. I haven't tried the restaurant, Felice, but it looks very inviting, and maybe I'll give it a shot the next time we're here. read more

We had a splendid stay at the Gild Hall. I think this used to be a Holiday Inn before it closed but I'm glad the Thompson Hotel group took over and revamped it into a sexy, cozy and sophisticated living den. We were able to use our Chase points to stay for our brief stay in NY. While we've been to NY a handful of times we actually had never stayed in the financial district area. We were pleasantly told by our lovely receptionist upon checking in that the area is quiet, safe but walkable. A couple of lovely quirks - I especially love the library staircase next to reception desk and the daily champagne HH. The Italian restaurant attached was great too. Access to major subway lines was super easy, all within 5-6 min walk. There were also plenty of coffee shops and bagel breakfast places to peruse. During our stay on the 12th floor, we never had any noise issues. I slept like a baby in their comfortable king sized bed. Their room was probably the biggest hotel room we had ever stayed in while visiting NY (we had stayed at Yotel a few times...). The toiletries in the bathroom had a nice white tea fragrance, and Water pressure was perfect in the bathroom. Also I went to the gym once but mainly to get water; the gym was very small but had all the equipment one might want to use. I would not hesitate to come back! read more

Conveniently located near the World Trade Center and the subway station, this hotel combines historic charm with a cozy, dimly lit ambiance. While the public restroom on the second floor could use more attention, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was commendable. The front desk staff were accommodating, storing our luggage when we arrived early and even offering a small water bottle for our departure. The front desk was great from check-in to check-out. The room, was nice but is beginning to show its age however it was comfortable and clean. We stayed here to be close to the Staten Island Ferry for the NY Marathon. If you need to be in the area for the ferries or Wall Street, this is a solid option. The only things keeping this from a 5 star review is the dated bathroom and the noise on Saturday night. There's a couple bars nearby and the crowds leaving were rowdy late into the night. read more

12/07/2021 I was so happy to have been able to redeem my Hyatt Free Night stay at a metropolis city. New York is infamous for having an abundance of hotels, but a lot of them either require a handful of points or a high tier capable certificate for redemption. I was surprised to see that this boutique Hyatt property is a category 4 and my certificate was allowed for redemption. This was an exceptional value, because rates all around New York City were climbing from $800+ due to the Santa Convention being in town. Location: roughly a 5 minute walk from the Fulton Street metro station, which is also a shopping and dining center. Not the best station for luggage access especially with the amount of stairs and walkways but certainly better than paying $100+ via ride share from an airport such as JFK. The hotel is located in a quiet alleyway and is roughly a walk-able 8-15 minutes away to the Brooklyn Bridge. First Impression: the interior is very rustic, elegant and welcoming. I love the touches of wood and brown leather accenting the lobby. The front desk is to the right upon entering the glass doors and restaurant to the left. A staircase flanked with wine bottles and books sits in the center with access to the second level where there is another restaurant and public restrooms. Service: I don't believe I was greeted with my Hyatt member status, but that didn't matter since I was happy to be able to drop off my bags (already knowing that our room would not be ready) after a red-eye flight. I had requested a room with two double beds, in which the friendly agent was gladly to assist with. We didn't return to the hotel until later in the evening around 9PM after a day of exploring New York City during the holidays. To my surprise, the agent working the desk at that hour was an acquaintance of mine, and of course that made my stay even more welcoming. Our keys were handed to us, two boxes of chocolates were delivered shortly after, and a bag of bottled spring water were hung on our door (the following morning). The Room: grey, browns, and black outfit the room giving the same rustic atmosphere reminiscent to the lobby. The room was actually a decent size and much larger than other New York City rooms I have stayed in. As you enter the room; to the left is a sliding door closet, and to the right is a bathroom with single vanity, toilet, and shower/tub combination. Bathe amenities are by D.S & Durga. Slippers (thong style) are available upon request, which was great because I brought them to the other 2 hotels during my stay in New York City that did not offer them. The room itself is flanked with a full wall leather headboard with gold arm lights. Up above sits a round chandelier and a very high ceiling, which was the highlight of this boutique hotel room. Both my friend and I agree that this hotel was a pleasant surprise in the hustling and bustling Big Apple. Definitely a hotel worth a return stay. read more

From the moment we pulled up to Gild Hall, our stay was marked by lovely, friendly people, a relaxed atmosphere, and a completely smooth experience. We'd had a harried and tense drive into the city, with lots of rain and abundant traffic. Our valet, Jose, stepped right out with an umbrella to help us grab our things and get out of the downpour. He is a true gem, as we were being harassed by a petty little man who'd pulled up just after us. (I have a wheelchair along with bags to unload.) Once inside the plush, softy lit lobby, we checked in and were offered a welcome glass of Prosecco. And just like that, our stress melted away as we zipped up to the 18th floor. What a beautiful place Gild Hall is. Tasteful, eclectic, sophisticated, with a touch of bygone days when lodging was anything but boring business travel. The attention to detail is absolutely charming. Our room did not disappoint, either: a comfortable and cozy mix of leather, brass, dark woods, and art deco wallpaper that was welcoming and warm despite the wretched rain outside. We had everything we needed, and everything was clean and tidy. If we'd wanted to enjoy a little more fun, there were plenty of extras in the thoughtfully stocked mini-bar closet. Nice touch, though I was in the city for medical treatment, we are determined to return for a pleasure trip. Our stay was beautifully quiet as I had to spend the majority of it in the room--not a hardship in this setting--but the lobby happy hour and Felice restaurant had an electric hum of activity. The whole vibe of Gild Hall is one you sadly find less and less of -- a clever, sophisticated, discreetly fun place centered around the needs of the clientele. Room: For an upmarket hotel this was not a good experience. The room itself might as well be inside a Red Roof or Laquinta, so nothing special and also very small. Beyond real glassware for drinking, a minibar filled with overpriced drinks and a selection of overpriced snacks, but no tea/coffee making facilities or a microwave. It's essentially, no different to a cheap motel in any small town. Customer Service: The front desk tells you nothing beyond taking ID, payment and handling over key cards. How about letting guests know their room key is needed to work the elevator, access the front door and no coffee/tea making facilities are in the room, but can be requested. On that subject - Called down to get a coffee maker, including requesting regular and decaf but they only brought regular and they were all fake flavoured stuff. Yuck! To add insult to injury, the coffee maker didn't work so called down again and was told a replacement would be sent up, but it never came (30 min later) before leaving for dinner and a show. No coffee! We returned later and recalled the front desk, because they didn't replace the coffee maker arranged earlier. Response... let me see if I can find another one. Some 20 mins later another maker shows up, so re-mentioned wanting regular (unflavoured) coffee and decaf. Response... we don't have access to any of that. Still no coffee! However, there's coffee/tea facilities in the lobby, but don't expect to get any after 11am because they shut that completely down. Nice! In summary: If a supposed upscale hotel cannot be bothered offering tea/coffee making facilities anywhere, including a microwave in your room then what the hell are people paying so much more for in this sorrowful excuse for upscale. Therefore, save your money because it's no better than any chain hotel, or motel and we've certainly had better experiences at those than staying at this wannabe. We have stayed at some very expensive and luxurious hotels but never had such a lacklustre experience, or come across staff this disconnected before, especially for the additional costs involved. Finally: We've never stayed at a Thompson Hotel before and following this experience, never will do so again. Essentially, if you have deep pockets, planning to spoil yourselves or have low standards then this place is perfectly fine to lay one's head. However, don't expect luxury, a higher standard of service or any better amenities for their extravagant costs, including an extra 'resort fee' for exactly what remains a total mystery. read more

I like the following: - the 1920s - dark look - Check-in was simple. They didn't ask me many questions and only included informational topics about the hotel. It wasn't an entire conversation. That is nice after a long flight. - After I checked in, they called to verify my room was to my liking. Having a verification call was great. I was in a meeting, so I hung up quickly. However, it gave me the feeling that the staff cared. Once I got off my call, I noticed the toilet water was running. I called back to let the front desk know. They sent an engineer up to fix it, and I enjoyed a dirty gin martini at the bar while I waited (this was not comp'ed. I didn't ask cause... com'on) - The bar is nice. They made the martini shaken instead of stirred. I felt like James Bond for at least 30 minutes. I should have packed nicer clothes. read more

I had such a nice time at this hotel. It was very boutique, which I loved. I got a glass of bubbly and truffles when I arrived and the room was nice and cool (it was super hot outside that day). The room had super high ceilings and lots of space. The pillows were wonderful and the counter space in the bathroom was great. There's a restaurant with super delicious Italian food downstairs and the location is super walkable. All of the staff members were kind and courteous. And their complimentary coffee is 5 star good. I ordered room service which was prompt and the fruit cup was top notch. I'm allergic to melon and they were ver accommodating. read more

Based on just the staff...the hotel was a fantastic experience. They really went above and beyond to ensure the stay was memorable. The prosecco in the lobby was a great touch. Water was available in the rooms and at the front desk. The location was superb. Just around the corner from Fulton station. Waking distance to Wall Street, Battery Park and Westfield. Felice restaurant was also convenient with delicious breakfast. We also had lunch there..the hotel itself is a pretty little boutique hotel. But enough cannot be said just about the staff who really make this a standout spot for a NYC trip. read more

Thompson Gild Hall was recently bumped to category 5 but luckily we booked early and was still able to redeem the category 4 voucher. It's in a much quieter part of the city, compared to the Thompson Central Park where we stayed the two previous nights. We rarely hear street noise here! (Did hear neighbor taking a long shower thou.) The room is on the smaller side despite we were upgraded to a deluxe king. The bathroom was small but functional. The bath towels were super fluffy. Hyatt globalist breakfast was served in the Felice restaurant on the ground floor. It was basic and decent. There is a nespresso machine in the lobby so don't need to order coffee from the restaurant. (Since the voucher only lets us choose one type of drink.) We enjoyed the walk to Battery Park. It's close to many other tourist attractions and subway station. read more

Great hotel! Great staff! I got jammed up in NY with no place to stay, all of the hotels in the financial district and surrounding were either sold out or selling for 3 X the normal rate (Still don't know why). I walked into the Gild Hall and was greeted by Dalila. I asked her if anyone had cancelled (I knew they were sold out on the site). She said yes we just had one and then.... she gave me the correct rate!!!! They could have easily doubled it on that day. I had lots of questions and requests (like a rollaway bed) etc. and front of house staff Angel and Pam took amazing care of me!! The hotel itself is clean and non-descript there is a 3rd party bar/restaurant that seemed nice. they also had Prosecco happy hour from 4-5pm! The room was the highlight, super high ceilings, comfortable bed and a wonderful rain head tub shower combo. Would definitely stay here again. I was so glad that my early check-in request was accommodated and my room was ready @ 8am. It makes a big difference if you have a room after taking a redeye flight... All the employees that I encountered were friendly and helpful. I was offered room upgrade due to my Hyatt elite status, along with all the benefits - much appreciated. I like the boutique hotel atmosphere - unique addition to Hyatt's portfolio. I also enjoyed breakfast at Felice everyday - it looked to be popular among locals (non hotel guests) for Sunday brunch. -First Impression- Complimentary drinks? Don't mind if I do! The lobby looks like a scene from "Inception", very cool! -Service- The front desk staff was incredibly nice, and very accommodating. After returning from a long night of dancing, my friends and I asked if it was ok for us to take pictures in the lovely lobby (which it was, but hey, had to ask). We even got to play with the staffs dog, which honestly, I don't know where he came from, but he was friendly and cute lol -Price- I'd say pretty good for what you get! -Did Not Like- Stayed here on a cold, late-fall-that-felt-like-mid-winter weekend, so it was very cold outside. It took a seemingly long time for the room to warm up despite cranking up the thermostat to almost 80. -Noteworthy- Front desk staff is great! -Recommended?- Would stay here again read more

This was the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in, from the lobby to the room. Everything was cleaned and sanitized upon arrival, sheets and pillows were clean, etc. The lobby smelled amazing, like woodsy men's cologne (not sure how that's accomplished every day but I won't complain). There wasn't always a doorman but when there was, they were always courteous; one gave us umbrellas before we went out on a rainy day. My only complaint was the TV; although we don't come to hotels to watch television, it would've been nice to have streaming services available instead of just basic channels to choose from at the end off the day. Overall, we'd definitely stay again. read more

I was sick, had to change my travel plans, and needed to change my reservation. My wife and I called Gild Hall three separate times. Each time, "the manager would need to approve that, he's in a meeting but he'll call you back shortly." Hours later, still: "he's in another meeting, he'll call you back shortly." No one ever called back. I was charged the full price for the reservation, not even an option to change dates for a fee or anything. read more
