I recently switched from another local cleaner, my shirt collars were getting scorched, button disintegrating on new shirts, and an unwillingness to go the extra mile. My first order had a pair of trousers returned with a replacement button on a rear pocket, no charge! I dropped an order off this morning and asked for their recommendation on how to get a ketchup stain out of my shirt, I had just been eating in the car. I was asked to hand over my shirt and within fifteen minutes the stain was removed, the shirt pressed, and I was ready for today's meetings. I dropped off an antique silk hand made ring bearers pillow to be hand cleaned. They promised me it could be done in 7 to 10 business days. This was the first week of December. It is now January 13th and they CAN NOT FIND MY PILLOW!! They "think" it may be at a "Sister cleaner" in Scranton, PA but are not sure. I'm getting the run around and am tired of it. First off, this location is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE! $9.00 to dry clean one pair of pants. I picked up my dry cleaning & I have gotten ready for work only to find wrinkled pants and a wrinkled shirt. Now today, ANOTHER WRINKLED SHIRT!!! I should not have to steam my clothes to get wrinkles out AFTER PICKING UP DRY CLEANING! This is totally unacceptable. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. NEVER GIVE YOUR CLOTHES TO GILMAN'S. My mother was a customer for years before it changed owners. I gave her clothes to the driver on July 14, 2020. (This was weeks later than the scheduled pick-up.) We waited and waited, and then we called to ask when the clothes would be delivered. For two weeks in a row, they said they were on the truck and would arrive "on Wednesday." Wednesdays came and went, so we called again, and they said the driver never received any clothes from us. We asked why they had told us the clothes were on the truck, and they said they hadn't looked them up (?!). I had personally put the clothes in the driver's hands, so I insisted that they look for the clothes, which were mostly cashmere sweaters and Eileen Fisher items. They told me to make a list and send it to Frances in accounting. I sent her a list with photos ... and then *crickets*. Never during this multi-month-long ordeal did anyone from Gilman's ever return a phone call or answer an email. I called again, and they said they absolutely had the items. The note that the driver attached to bags must have fallen off, so they were logged under the lady on the phone's name, and we would receive them on Wednesday. (Remember when they said they had never received any clothing from us?). No clothes were delivered on Wednesday, so I called again, and -- finally -- half the clothes were delivered the next day. (This was on August 20). Clothes that were missing included ones in photos that the woman on the phone had said she remembered. I sent another email to Frances with the list and photos of the remaining items ... and heard nothing back from her. Today, my mother called and spoke to Frances, and she told my mother we must have accidentally thrown the rest of the clothes in the garbage (?!). If you want to lose your cashmere sweaters and favorite clothing items and spend months on futile emails and phone calls, send them to Gilman's. PS: As My mom told Frances today, she still has a pair of large white linen pants that they delivered to her by mistake way before Covid. She called several times and left them out for pickup so they could be returned to the other customer, but they never responded. read more

I brought my sons' christening gown that was hand made by my aunt. It hung in the closet for 23 years and had some stains. Since it is an heirloom in our family, my daughter in law wanted for my granddaughter to wear for her christening. It had stains. I was so afraid to bring it to anyone since it had sewn on pearls and sequins. Gilman's Cleaners did a FANTASTIC job! It looked as good as new!! Thank you so very much! BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT TAKE CLOTHES HERE. Literally the worst dry cleaners I have ever experienced. I'm not sure they even know how to dry clean clothes. They ruined everything I brought. Shrunk all my sweaters. Holes in my sweater poncho and lost a very expensive silk blouse. The offer to cover that was a $100 in store credit. Seriously??!! Simply the worst. They double billed me and would not take ownership of the situation even when I showed them the proof of previous payment. I asked them for estimates on a very large amount of items I sent in and was told it would be no problem then they never gave me an estimate just a big bill all though I never authorized it. Like others I tried getting them on the phone and they never answer even during their list of business hours and when they do there's always promise of a callback with no follow through . I went by a number of times and I was told the person I needed to talk to about billing wasn't there. WhenI finally did get someone who could address it on my last visit they were rude and had no interest in listening just insisting they were right. It's really a shame I used this business for a very long time under the old ownership when Marty Gilman owned the place, the new ownership has really made it unusable. I would guess that is why I see a number of reviews like the one I'm leaving now. I only wish I would've paid more attention sooner instead of just assuming everything would continue as it was. Waiting for my garment for almost 2 weeks, there is nobody taking responsibility, i have feeling they lost it. I need it for a special occasion and now i'm left last minute without it. They do an excellent job pressing pants here. I have elderly ladies complementing the sharpness of my pant crease all day long. Gilman's also presses difficult lab coat collars very well. The turn around is usually about 3 business days in my experience. read more

I admit I did not look at the ticket when she handed it to me and I was shocked when I picked my clothes up. VERY expensive, more than double what I paid for my dry cleaning in Fl. I searched high and low for the perfect dress for our family photo session, I came across this stunning pure white dress in Anthropologie and knew it was the one, even though it about broke the bank....During our photo shoot we trampled around the tall grass, the ferns and mud, needless to say by the time the session was over, I tried to not have a panic attack with the stains.... then WE JUMPED in the lake (with the dress on)! At this point I thought this dress was un-saveable. The next day I brought that (once) beautiful white dress that was just about trashed into Gilman's Cleaner. Well, a week later I picked up that dress and it was SPOTLESS, not a sign of green grass stains, mud or lake water... I am so so so happy with their service, kindness and commitment to the final product. It was pressed to perfection and I am one happy customer. Is is possible to give Zero stars? Be very wary of even trying this business. I have been having my shirts laundered by dry cleaners for 15 years and I have never had an experience like I had here. My cheapness cost me much more than I expected. This place somehow managed to tear a hole in the sleeve of 3 different shirts and ten tried to blame me for the damage. They said I wore through the shirts even though several shirts bought and worn MUCH more often than these particular shirts had no wear problems. To top it off, they laundered, pressed, and hung them up and delivered them to me without a word about the damage and even CHARGED me for the laundry service! When I confronted them they said it was all my fault that I wore through the shirts and never even offered to refund the cleaning cost much less any compensation for the shirts. This place is absolutely unbelievable. I have a much better service now and want everyone to know about the dangers of this place as they don't seem to worry about reputation or the power of social networking...beware! After the last grandchild was christened 30 year ago it was placed in storage. Over the years it had yellowed and stained. why go to a family run business when they act like they don't know your face? My husband realized he forgot his wallet when he went to pick up our items this Friday. Embarrassed at his mistake and tight on time, he ask to take one shirt which he needed for today, leaving the rest for when he could come back Monday, and he would pay for everything together then. We were appalled they said no. Until today he has used this cleaner every week or two for years, and had never once had any issues with paying, so they had no reason to doubt him personally, and should have acknowledged him being a loyal customer. I can't see how they couldn't trust a customer of 5 years to remember to pay for a $2.50 cleaning 3 days later, especially when they were hold other items that were almost $100 in cleaning, and worth hundreds? He explained that he lives over 15 minutes away, was really unable to go home and back again this morning, and desperately needed one shirt today. Worst case scenario, they are out a pitiful $2.50, but again, what!??!? With other items to pick up, including a $300 coat, did they think we wouldn't come back? ridiculous. loyalty goes two ways in business. Frustrated shocked, and running late now, my husband was now unwilling to leave any items there at this point, came all the way home, and went back again, at which point he told the office that the owner had one chance to apologize, or he was losing a customer. The owner couldn't be bothered to come to the front from his office, but by phone offered us a "special" discount for the inconvenience. However, this "special" is for EVERYONE at this time of year EVERY year. My husband called him out on that, and he said, he would "also" give us 25% off any item we put in today. What he didn't do was admit what bad business that was, or apologize for wasting so much of my husband's time over $2.5, or trying to offer us a deal everyone already has anyway, or any form of apology at all. if you are 100% sure nothing will ever go wrong, this could be the cleaners for you, if something is wrong, misplaced or you ask them to work with you, they don't care. their cleaning is fine, service gets a big 0 starts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
