Really good local eats place! Wide menu variety. On a cold day, the chili as a starter was great. We also got nachos to share, along with burger and walleye. The whole menu is solid comfort food. The service is second to none the waitresses/bartenders are always asking if you need a drink or anything else to eat or just clear away the food right away when you're done eating. We have driven past this restuarant a few times, and we were always curious. We ordered take out/delivery, as if there's any other choice nowadays. The delivery was quick. The delivery driver was friendly as well. When we recieved the order, it was still extremely warm. Which sometimes does NOT happen when getting delivery. We ordered the thin crust and the pan pizza. Both were good. I preferred the pan pizza. I would like to see this business on more delivery apps. I'd always prefer to use an app, over making a phone call. Interesting place... The interior won't win any beauty contests. There is lots of 70's era wood paneling. The layout is very choppy, in a claustrophobic kinda way. And the decor is a hodge-podge (albeit mostly sports themed). As I'm typing this, some old timer (I think he's the owner) is playing the bongos along with the juke box which is blasting out Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4". Earlier, a couple of guys questioned why Family Feud was on the tv's. The bartender blamed his sister, and promptly turned on sports. Oh shit, "25 or 6 to 4" just ended, and its playing again! Ha! Same dude that questioned Family Feud just said: "I'm pretty sure we just heard this song." The bartender yelled at him (jokingly of course), and put on "Saturday in the Park". Now playing: "Does Anyone Really Know What Time it is?" Three straight Chicago songs. I repeat: Interesting place... On to the food: My meal was excellent. I had the steak sandwich and a side salad. The steak sandwich consisted of a ribeye, with grilled onions and cheese on a soft bun. It was the most tender ribeye I've ever had! Service was entertaining, yet good. Coming out of pandemic closure, the dining area is now just a few tables and 2 booths. Most of the space is now taken up by slot machines and an ATM-like machine. The menu is the same as it has been for a few years, and some items stand out. The Hamburger Steak Milano is wonderful. Get it with the soup side, as the salad is a throw-away of watery lettuce. Been a regular here for 3+ years. Sadly your entire experience is based on the bartender and staff working. Half the time you will get great service, the other half you will get crazy overcharged while staff AND customers go and pour their own shots/drinks behind the bar. Don't worry though, you'll pick up their tab whether you like it or not. Avoid blonde bartender. I was there tonight and the bartender was so drunk she literally had the drunk hiccups and could not walk straight at 10pm. The bar back was pouring himself shot after shot, back to back. I was sitting at the bar and most of my service came from the bar back or random customers who were allowed to serve others alcohol? Bartender was missing most of the time. Needless to say my bill was double what it should have been but not worth a fight between the belligerently drunk bartender and bar back. Normally it's a great spot. Not when this crew is working. Did delivery during COVID. Delivery was made within an hour of calling. 14" pan pepperoni pizza and 12" thin crust cheese. Was it good? Yeah. Great? Meh. Thin crust was very thin, cracker like almost. It would be a perfect light pizza to satisfy a pizza craving without going "all in". Reminded me of the thinness of MOD pizza. I favored the pan pizza crust - buttery and thick. Unfortunately, the cheese slid right off the pizza but hey - it all goes down the same. While we didn't try it, I do love that they have dessert on their menu. That is always an A++ from me. read more

This is the second time I came here and it is now MY bar. V is the best bartender I've ever met. Also got to meet Karie, one of the owners, and I felt like I belong. I wasn't hungry but I ordered a club sandwich for my son, with tater tots, so he can have lunch for school the next day. I picked him up from swimming at the local Y, tots unfortunately didn't make it home, and same with half of the sandwich. He told me every time I visit here to order him that sandwich. Next time I will come hungry to try the food for myself. Inside is super cozy, when full, the bar feels cramped, but I'm not afraid of other people and you can make friends quickly that way. Had lunch with a friend here today. I'm from the area so have seen this place many times but never went inside. It looks like a neighborhood bar and grill. Nothing fancy. Kinda small but that suits me. It's very clean and there's a good sized fenced in deck off the bar side for outdoor seating. I was here once before about 25 years ago but got in an argument with my then boyfriend and we left without getting out of the car. Ah, memories. I really have no clue why it took me so long to return. Anyhoo..... The place is split into two sections when you walk in the door. We were the only people in the dining side and there were only a few folks on the bar side. Fine by me since we went to talk so it was quiet. We split an order of fried zucchini sticks which came with two sauces (ranch and marinara). They were just right. Next I ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 bbq rib and chicken combo with fries. My friend got the fried shrimp with homemade chips. Both came with soup or salad and we chose soup. It was Turkey Rice and had no complaints. Both dinners came with garlic toast which was salty and kinda greasy and therefore yummy. The bbq ribs were the fall-off-the-bone type which I love and they did not disappoint. Keep in mind that this is a bar and grill, not a rib joint so if you're a connoisseur of bbq you may disagree. It included bbq chicken which also fell off the bone and the sauce was sweet and tangy just the way I like it. I ate every bite. The fries were the fat, crinkle variety and they were perfect. Everything was hot and fresh and delivered quickly. My friend enjoyed her shrimp and for the price ($10.25 for soup, 7 or 8 good sized shrimp, garlic toast & fresh made chips) you just can't beat it. Add that to the fact that we used an Entertainment Book coupon which took off the price of her meal, a cute waiter and a friendly woman who brought out some of our food and seemed very sincere when wishing us a good weekend on our way out and you just can't go wrong. This is only my second review on this website and in both of them I mention the Entertainment Book so I just wanna make it clear that I have no connection to them other than I always buy one to support our school district and do use them in deciding where to dine. I really want to love this place because (a) I close to here, (b) it's a bit of a Wisconsin bar and (c) they serve food & it's a great little place, but unfortunately it has been hit or miss for us here with the food & drinks - sometimes the food is good, sometimes it is really bad (and we are FAR from picky eaters). I will keep coming back though - I do like the owners (the family is very nice) and I can see there are a lot of locals that come in here that love to drink here, but I have to be honest, if somebody cleaned this place up and upped their game on their menu (and cleaned the fruit fly bar), Gilmer Road House could make a killing and be a great stop for bikers, locals and even families looking for a local place to eat.
