We were regulars here ,the staff knew us & treated us well until the day our military friend brought in her service dog! The owner said she couldn't serve us because no dogs were allowed! Service dog or not!!! We told her it was against the law not to allow a service dog into her establishment & came back with the paperwork to prove it!!!! She must have informed the staff as they continually say us in the dark corner in the back next to the kitchen entrance. Food is terrible. The place is filthy, stuff is on the ground and tables are musty. The service was terrible! Went there and my grandfather, who is 82, was walking in and about to sit down and a waiter came and almost ran into him. The waiter became aggressive and started being rude to him, telling him he wasn't even touching him. Went and told the manager, and he falsely accused him of something that he wasn't. my grandfather can be quick to accuse but he was calm and collected during the time here. This place is horrible. Went in for lunch today, and the owner was extra crabby with us. Almost turned us away because my son brought his Dunkin iced coffee in with him. Additionally, they no longer support the Lincoln Way music program. When I asked, she not only confirmed that they don't support the program, but went on to complain about its members. It was an early morning and we were looking for MIMOSAS and MIMOSAS we found. This venue is such a friendly neighborhood spot that is so inviting!!!!!! I ordered a mimosa with grapefruit juice. horrible establishment. i came in and this older lady, the owner, came to talk to me with immediate attitude. extremely rude to customers for being the owner. i proceed to my table and get my food. the owner gina proceeds to yell at her employees during my whole breakfast. doing that in front of everyone or honestly yelling like that at all was bewildering. coming from someone in the restaurant industry, i feel horrible for the employees that have to deal with that sad excuse for a boss every week. disgusts me. read more

Breakfast (brunch) spots seem like a slam dunk to me if you are a restaurant owner. The "keep it simple" principle seems to lend itself perfectly to neighborhood breakfast restaurants. Offer some steak and eggs, some Benedicts, some skillets, stuff from the griddle and maybe a page or so at the back of your menu featuring some sandwiches for lunch. Open the place from 7 am to 3 pm or so, and have plenty of servers and busboys so the food comes out fast and efficiently. Gina's Teardrop Cafe in New Lenox pretty much nailed it when we recently visited on a Sunday morning. We were joined by some friends, so there were 7 in our party. We waited for 10 minutes for a table, and the place was hoppin'. None of us had been here before, but we all got the feeling this was the norm for a weekend crowd at this place. The inside tastefully decorated and cozy. It looks like it occupies two units in a strip mall, so it seats quite a few people. We were warmly greeted by our server and she had drinks on the table inside of 3 minutes. These places make their money by turning tables, but we never felt rushed. That being written, within like 10 minutes our food was delivered - hot and exactly as ordered. I went with a Spinach, Artichoke and Grilled Chicken Panini - the only one at the table who ordered off their lunch menu. Other items ordered were Eggs Benedict, a Mexican Skillet, Biscuits and Gravy, Breakfast Tacos & French Toast. The amount of food Gina's gives you for your money is pretty impressive. In a world where many restaurants are downsizing their portions as they raise their prices, Gina's really delivers value for your dollars. The other good news is that they aren't sacrificing quality for quantity. Aside from my sandwich, all the food ordered was really good. There was nothing wrong with my panini, it just lacked flavor. Could've used a sauce of some kind. However, it was a huge portion, and it was cooked really well. It also came with a complimentary bowl of soup - notice I wrote "bowl" because that's exactly what it was. Not a cup, but a bowl of cream of chicken and rice soup. The soup was exactly what you would expect - creamy and delicious with a hint of lemon. Really good. My wife ordered the breakfast tacos. They gave her 3 tacos with scrambled eggs and chorizo and it also came with hash browns. They were delicious, but so big that she could only eat one. My daughter ordered the Eggs Benedict, and again, it was exactly as it should be. Another stand out was the Mexican skillet. Tons of eggs, cheese, veggies and chorizo. Delicious. Everyone at the table was more than satisfied with our breakfast, and our experience definitely validated the crowds and the positive Yelp! reviews. Perfect neighborhood breakfast spot. read more

I wish I lived closer to Gina's Teardrop Cafe! Where to begin?! We ordered the meatlovers skillet and the breakfast special with 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 pancakes. The service was friendly and speedy fast! The portion sizes were great and the prices were as well. Both meals were very filling and full of so much flavor! The skillet was filled with bacon, ham, sausage, peppers, onions, hashbrowns, cheese and topped with 3 eggs of your choice. I opted for pancakes with mine instead of toast and they were the most fluffy pancakes. I loved it! The breakfast special also came with orange juice and everything was super tasty! Decided to try this place out on my way to work. Always try and support local business. So disappointing i won't be back I called and ordered the skillet with bacon and sausage no ham. I had hung up called right back and asked do they use links or patties the young woman stated the use links. I asked could I change to the patties she said yes no problem When I got there the older guy asked me are you here for pick up. And asked my name. This older lady came up and said since you called and changed your order it will take awhile. Which was not true she went to back came right out with my food she had a serious attitude problem. She stated to me that since she was in a good mood they remade my food. They normally do not put patties in the skillet. And next time I need to state that in the beginning before I place my order. Because she had to waste a perfectly good skillet. Which I don't understand how when I called right back after I placed my order. Then I get in the car they did not even give me toast I had to drive back and get the toast. The older lady couldn't even hand me the toast. Just point to the table and say sorry I forgot to put the toast in the bag. I am all about customer service. I use to be a waiter and do customer service for food chains. So on that note I will not be back to this place and on top of that the food is not even good. The sausage are not good there was no bacon in my skillet lol and the hash brown taste old. and they have the never to charge $10 for this. read more

The place was busy (11:30ish on a Sunday) but we got seated quickly. The menu was varied enough that we both found something to our liking, but not so huge that we were overwhelmed with choices. Once we ordered, we waited less than 5 minutes to be served our food. Super fast! Downside, it wasn't as hot as it should have been; but I'm willing to overlook that because the food was better than expected. Came here based on Yelp reviews. Today was our first time here and food was great. I got the Birds in the Nest topped with cheddar cheese and a side for corned beef hash and my boyfriend ordered their Breakfast Tacos. Both tasted great, very flavorful except for the hash browns, it can use a little salt or seasoning and I would like the yolks in my birds nest to be a little runny so it's not too dry but other than that I liked it. They also have this black raspberry cake that really looked good on the picture. At first I thought it was Ube or purple yam cake (popular in the Philippines) I was intrigued to try this ombre cake and it was also good! Not overly sweet and light.
