My fiance and I decided to elope - this was a second marriage for both of us and this time we wanted it to be just for us. I walked into the store, described to Kristy the type of gown I was looking for, and she showed me a couple that were right on point. I found my dress that afternoon. From there, I needed some alterations - I was buying the gown off the rack because we had a short time frame - and the seamstress was amazing - she made the dress fit me perfectly - it was such a smooth and stress free experience from start to finish and the gown was gorgeous. Even during covid I felt safe, they were limiting customers and wearing masks. I had an such an amazing experience. The staff at The White Dress are absolutely amazing! My stylist Katelyn did such an amazing job pulling dresses and making me feel so comfortable. So was very mindful in making sure I was comfortable trying on all silhouette to find the perfect fit for me. The had such a large selection of plus size dresses (not just regular sizes) I found The White Dress originally on The Knot. I went to their Instagram and then Tik Toks and knew it was the first Bridal Shop I wanted to make an appointment at. There was a Stella York trunk show and the representative from Stella York was also very helpful and also pulled dresses. I did not think I would find my dream dress (even though I never dreamed of picking the style I did) and then cry happy tears when I knew it was MY DRESS. Happened to be off for Veterans Day on a whim I called the store about 10 min after it opened. A lovely human being named Aubrey answered and I asked about coming in to try some dresses on thinking they would probably be booked up. She got me in an hour later! Super sweet, knowledgeable, had really great suggestions! We even tried a few other silhouettes just to make sure I liked the style I'd been trying on. Narrowed it down to 3 and I'm going back Thursday with some of my party and future MIL. I came here to help my sister shop for her wedding dress. It was our first time looking for dresses and by far a great place to start. First, the store itself is very comfortable and almost plush. You're welcomed immediately upon walking in by friendly receptionists and allowed to wait at the front or browse while waiting for the rest of the group. When everyone arrived, my sister (the bride), was given a set of bead bracelets that she would loop around the hanger of dresses she was interested in trying on. So we were essentially let loose and allowed to browse, starting with 5-6 dresses. Our consultant (and I hate that I can't remember her name!) went around and found the dresses she tagged and pulled them into her own dressing room complete with a private, comfortable sitting area for those to watch. The consultant helped my sister into each dress without her being rushed and she came out and stood on a pedestal each time, taking her time to look and come up with likes/dislikes about each dress. This is when the consultant came in and provided more details/suggestions and also suggested/pulled more dresses to try on, depending on feedback. But while we (the wedding party and mother of the bride) waited on our comfortable couches, we were provided with some nice wine and were encouraged to continue browsing. Overall, it was a GREAT experience and I would definitely recommend going here. It was a very personalized experience without feeling rushed or pressured. read more

The White Dress saved the day! Friday morning I was getting an oil change before leaving to drive up north for a rehearsal and to stand up in a wedding on the next day, and through a series of unfortunate events I ended up with car grease on my bridesmaids dress in multiple spots. Fast forward to my crying my eyes out, calling my husband and mom for help, and my husband and his colleagues calling literally 36 different dry cleaners and wedding shops between Ann Arbor and Traverse City trying to find anyone who would take on this insanity and help me not be murdered by the bride when she found out. Enter: The White Dress. They were THE only business to say "come on in" and they didn't even sell me the dress in the first place. Fast forward to my arrival. Upon entering, the staff were courteous, friendly, and had nothing but words of encouragement and consideration for me. They spoke to me respectfully and kept me in the loop with directness of what they could and couldn't do and quickly began working on the dress (mind you- the stains were literally right front and center and would be noticed if the grease didn't come out). While they worked on the dress, the other staff were looking up additional fixes for me and talked me through what I could do next based on various outcomes. There was nothing left to do at this point but wait. While waiting I had the chance to observe how the staff handled phone calls, appointments, and how they interacted with one another while customers were not around. I can't speak more highly about this business. My observations were a continuation of my own experience, and if I were getting married again, I would be quite pleased with going to this shop. The store was aesthetically pleasing, the temperature was perfect, it was clean, and there was a wealth of stunning dresses that I just haven't seen on Pinterest or elsewhere. And best of all- they got the grease stains out of my dress within the time limit so that I could still make it up north to get to my friend's rehearsal while barely missing driving through a tornado (but that's a story for another time). They let me know how to get the residual water stains out of the dress from getting the grease out, and after using their suggestions and then dunking the entire satin dress in the sink at the rental and hanging it to dry over night, it was perfect and as if nothing had even happened. One day I'll tell the bride about the shenanigans it took to get to her wedding, but until then, I will be forever grateful to the staff of The White Dress for not only helping to fix my dress, but for simultaneously helping me calm down and never once making me feel like I didn't belong there or shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. read more

They sized us for our dresses and then told us we needed to go way up in size and then they don't do the alterations. Beautiful dresses, but not the experience I had expected. Update: went to pick up my bridesmaid dress with another girl and the woman working didn't even try to show us the dresses or offer for us to try them on. We asked to try on the dresses and she said we could only try them on in the bathroom because the dressing rooms were full - on our way to the bathroom, we noticed that the rooms were not even being used. read more

I bought my dress in April for my wedding in July. I was recommended to go to Alterations Unlimited by The White Dress in Brighton. My dress was one size too big. I started alterations right after I bought my dress to have plenty of time to have it altered. I ended up going to appointments for this about 6 times, spent 3 times what I spent on my dress originally and was asked for a tip every time I put in my credit card to pay. My dress was totally changed from what I originally bought. It was terrible!! I ended up buying another dress from another establishment in a week before my wedding. I was lucky that it fit perfect. I would not recommend going anywhere that they don't do their own alterations or give recommendations to a terrible place. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about The White Dress! This was the first bridal shop that I went to so I wasn't sure what to expect, but my experience was amazing from the minute I walked in the door. Everyone made me feel so comfortable, special and beautiful and they have such a wide variety to pick from (both style and price)! My stylist, Krystin, was so happy, polite and helpful...she was able to quickly figure out 'my style' and offered great feedback and recommendations. My family and I (7 of us total) had a pretty private area, and other friendly faces from the shop would pop into the room periodically throughout my visit to offer additional feedback, including the owner Kristy, which was very helpful (always nice to get feedback from the experts)! I loved quite a few of the dresses that I tried on during my visit, but the third dress that I tried on instantly wowed me and my family members. I didn't buy it that day but couldn't stop thinking about it after we left (even after trying on 10+ more dress) so I ended up going back a week later to try it on again and ordered it (I said YES to the dress!!). I emailed the shop with some questions after my first visit and Kristy, the owner, answered all of my questions and always responded very quickly. She even remembered me from my visit the week prior which really impressed me since she meets so many brides on a daily basis. She offered to let me come in early for my second visit, before the shop opened, since they were completely booked that day. Kristy was there during my second visit and recognized me right away, and my stylist that day, Katelyn, was just as friendly and helpful. I went to three other dress shops after visiting TWD and the experience just wasn't the same at any of them... the other shops were okay (but not great). TWD definitely has the biggest selection out of all of the shops I went to and by far the friendliest staff. One of the shops that I went to wouldn't even let me look at or pick dresses on my own - they insisted on picking for me based on pictures that I showed them. At TWD, they gave me space and let me and my family look around so I could decide what I wanted to try on - but also brought in some dresses that they thought I would like too. Didn't know what to expect, but what a fabulous experience. We came from the Romeo/Rochester area, so it seemed like we passed a slew of bridal shops to get there, but they have a great reputation for a reason.. The staff there are very professional & knowledgeable, but also kind and and friendly! We made it into a little party celebration with our group. Everything was so well coordinated that the time limits were not a problem. The work they did before to prepare for our visit really helped to move things in the right direction and my daughter-in-law-to-be found the perfect wedding gown. The dresses in the store are organized by dress style, so if there's a style you are set on you can head there immediately and not waste your time shuffling through other styles. There was a fantastic variety of dresses, including "sale" dresses that are well-priced for those on a budget. Everyone at TWD truly cares that you find the right dress for YOU. They told me that at the end of the day what matters to them is that you are happy with what you're wearing on your wedding day. They aren't just out to make a sale, they really do care. If you are a bride looking for a dress post quarantine do yourself a favor and avoid this place. We called to verify what we were allowed to do and you are NOT allowed to select any dresses yourself even when wearing a mask. You also are not allowed to take off your mask when showing just your family. My sister was in tears having my mom see her in a dress for the first time with a mask on. I understand protocol, but we drove 1.5 to go to this specific place before being told something different when we walked in. read more

I had a great experience at the White Dress with both Morgan and Kristy. I was visiting my sister, and went in on a whim a few days after I was engaged, not expecting to really find anything. I live in Boston and had an appt at a very well known shop there and had convinced myself that was where I would find my dress. The experience shopping was so fun, with very minimal pressure. I of course found the perfect dress there, and ended up waiting until after my appt in Boston to come back and buy the dress. Let me just say that the White Dress FAR surpassed my experience at the much more famous store in Boston. I felt special and wonderful and Morgan and Kristy were helpful and knowledgeable and not pushy at all. Morgan was the one who found my dress! She really listened to what I wanted and paid careful attention as i was trying on dresses to see what I liked and what I didn't like. Went in with my daughter looking for a wedding dress. We had appointment but we were treated like we didn't. The person that was waiting on us was not helpful at all. Very disappointed. What made this even more disappointing had I stopped by to talk with the owner and the girl at the front desk first said she was in a meeting, than she said she was on the phone and than she went in the back to talk to the owner and came out saying she was no where to be found. I was still shopping for accessories for my big day when my future Mother-in-Law told me about the adorable new bridal shop that had recently opened in downtown Brighton, The White Dress. I stopped in one Saturday afternoon to look at veils and headpieces and was warmly greeted by Cathy, one of their wonderful employees. Within minutes I found the veil I had been looking for and it was at a fraction of the cost of other veils I had looked at. I placed my order that day and my veil was in within a month. When I came to pick it up, I again saw Cathy and told her I was their to pick up my veil. She said that I must be Erika and went to the back to get it for me. It was steamed and in plastic for protection until the big day. I brought my Mom with me this time and she thought that the shop was as cute as I did. She started looking at bridal gowns even though I already have mine! All of the dresses in the shop are so beautiful. I wish they were open when I had been shopping for my bridal gown. TWD has recently started to carry flower girl dresses and I was one of the first to order my flower girl dress from the shop. Again, Cathy and Kristy were wonderful to work with. They were patient with me in this process and waited until I was able to come into the shop with my Flower Girl so she could be measured before they placed their first order for dresses. They even called the manufacture to ask questions I had about sizing of the dresses and if various colored sashes were available for order. Again, the price for the dress was much less then at other bridal salons, but still adorable! I could not image spending hundreds of dollars for a dress that a three year old is going to wear for a day and been grown out of within a few months. The dress came in within weeks and is so cute! I will defiantly recommend The White Dress to other brides, whether they are looking for the perfect dress for their big day, brides maid dresses, flower girl dresses, or accessories. The shop is adorable, the staff is warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The prices of what I have looked at (accessories and flower girl dresses) are very reasonable. They offer alteration services as well, so they truly can be a one stop shop. They took us to the area that is listed as "bridesmaids" that is all that they had there that would've considered mother of the bride. My mom was very disappointed. Each bride gets their own little section of the store with a couch and two huge mirrors, and one big dressing room! I felt like a princess. This place was fantastic! This was the first bridal salon I went to, I brought 5 of my friends, and they took such great care of us. Morgan was the stylist who helped us the entire time and she was such a gem. My friends and I picked out a bunch of different types of dresses to try on, and Morgan really helped narrow it down and suggested a few other dresses to try that fit with what looked best on me. The shop is so comfortable, nice, and cute, and although I know we were the only appointment scheduled during our slot, it was made so personal by the entire staff. From the minute I walked in, I felt like it was my time to shine, and that I was their number one priority. There were other appointments in the shop, and not once did that ever detract from my experience. Loved my visit here. My best friend and I got engaged within 3 months of each other and really wanted to have appointments together at a salon, which we found out quickly a lot of places don't do. When I emailed The White Dress, they were more than accommodating to include both of us at the same time. The shop is super cute and clean, and has a selection of maybe 200 dresses or so. After meeting with our consultants, we were free to roam around and tag dresses we liked with little bracelets (a cute idea!), and those dresses were lined up in our dressing rooms. What I loved about the shop is it's sectioned off into little alcoves, so you can have some privacy with your companions. I went to David's Bridal and you can be trying on dresses 2 feet away from someone else, but this felt more glamorous and made the experience more special. Because my friend and I were both trying on dresses at the same time we ended up with a pretty big chunk of the store to ourselves. Our consultants were Kristy, the owner, and Ashley. They were both so kind and patient and pulled as many dresses as we wanted, adding their own expertise to find things they thought would look flattering. They both gave us their undivided attention, and let my friend and I be a part of each other's appointments as well. The best factor with the ladies here though, is they were laid back. Some bridal salons are really pushy in their sales, and a wedding dress purchase is not something you want to be rushed into. They completely understand if you're just looking, or if you're ready to buy, and they store all your favorites so if you go back they know what to pull again. They are also very open to questions about alterations, and they did say they have their own seamstresses so all alterations could be done there. I didn't purchase a dress at my appointment, but I found one I fell in love with, and because the store and the consultants were so wonderful, it won't be long before I go back to order it. read more

I absolutely am in love with The White Dress. The shop is spacious and has a great selection of dresses. The staff are beyond courteous and make sure that you and your party are as comfortable as possible on your special day. When you go to try your dress on, you are taken to a HUGE dressing room, not a cramped, small space. The day I went to TWD I had previously been in a dress shop in an old house where the other brides were up in my space and the dressing room barely fit my consultant and myself, I left that place feeling discouraged but TWD completely cheered me up. There are so many small and special details that Kristy focuses on, it really makes your time there pleasant. My dress was a sample sale dress in fantastic condition and since it was a sample sale, it was a great price... but all of the dresses, even the ones that weren't on sale, seemed to be priced fairly.
