Very nice casual place. Gina's is a local spot with so much creativity and love. A touch pricy but still a great experience. We went here the other day and overall had a decent experience. We decided to try this place after seeing the reviews and headed there right after they opened. we were seated and ordered drinks and an appetizer which came pretty quick. After that though the rest of our food took quite awhile which is tricky with a toddler and a baby. We had been sitting there for over an hour before we got everything. Another thing that i was not aware of until i got there was that they were more of a vegetarian/fish restaurant. Quite a few items we had tried to order they were out of as well which made it a little tricky in ordering. My husband really enjoyed the salmon quesadilla and my son had a quesadilla with nutella and banana which he didn't eat much of but how could it not be good with those ingredients! I had the Miami tacos which i found to be ok. I loved the goat cheese and mango but didn't appreciate how many sprouts were on the tacos. Also, i thought the tacos were a little expensive for two tacos and nothing else came with them. After 2 hours of wine tasting and beer tastings at both St Michael's Winery and Eastern Shore Brewing next door we badly needed something to eat. As we left the brewery, we noticed a very tantalizing aroma coming from Gina's which like the Pied Piper, lured us into her door. There are only 4 tables inside and about 6 bar stools, there are like 7 tables of various size out back and a couple of seats out front. A small quaint eclectic Café with a Mexican flair. We looked over the menu, and I decided on the Sesame Street Tacos (2 tacos with blackened tuna w/ pickled ginger in crisped tortilla shells) and Sheri had The Purple Goat dilla (goat cheese and mozzarella filling with a black berry compote and balsamic glaze on top in a tomato tortilla shell). We tried Gina's for the first time this past Friday. Our server Sierra was fantastic! Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu, specials and drinks. She recommended the Shore Nacho appetizer and we are so happy she did! They are HUGE and delicious! Ginacs make their chips in house...need I say more?! They are so good and stay crunchy! We asked what she recommended from the bar and she mentioned the blackberry Margarita and Mojito. Again...both came out looking beautiful and tasting delicious. The Atmosphere here was everything more than we could have imagined. The staff were so friendly and welcomed our dog Buca also. The food was amazing. We orders the Shore Nachos(Packed with sweet crabmeat fresh guacamole mozzarella)and Tuna Salad(healthy portions of Tuna atop fresh greens )and My Son (7) had a Fancy P B & J on a toasted Quesadilla.The Margarita had me feeling carefree. Are you a "Pescetarian"? You just might like Gina's. Because I am not a pescatarian, and expected something different, I am giving it only three stars. We walked into Gina's because the appealing outdoor seating area. It was really nice, and our server, Piper, was welcoming. Let me say upfront that I am not a vegetarian (or pescetarian, a new word I discovered while eating there) and expected traditional tacos when I walked into Gina's based on the signage out in front. The menu is entirely vegetarian/pescetarian, which was a surprise to me. But I went with it and ordered the a peanut butter and banana quesadilla. It was good! Love this place. They have a great outdoor seating area (dog friendly) with cornhole and fire pits. Indoor is tiny, which wasn't a problem for us visiting in October. Stopped in for lunch. I ordered mahi tacos, which were messy eating thanks to chipotle mayo and pickled jalapenos, but were delicious. The crab dip was one of the best I've ever tasted, and did not scrimp on Old Bay toast for dipping. The taco salad with bean chili was great. Other than the tacos, the portions were ridiculously huge. Margaritas were only ok, sadly - mainly because they're served in heavy glass tankards so loose rim surface area for salt! Our hungover group of 9 popped in on a Saturday afternoon in early March. The restaurant is super tiny, and it was too cold to sit outside, but between the bar and a couple of small tables they managed to accommodate us. Gina's has a real hip, organic, vegetarian thing going on. It's southwestern food fused with Eastern shore/Chesapeake food, which made for an interesting menu. I ordered the homemade hummus of the day, which was made with garlic and red peppers and served with warm pita bread. And maybe I was just hungry, but it was delicious. I seriously scooped up every bit of the hummus! Then I ordered the tortilla soup which was also amazing. One of my friends ordered the nachos, which are vegetarian but come loaded with so much good stuff (beans, salsa, homemade guac, cheese!) that you'll never notice. The tortilla chips are gluten free. The plate was big enough to feed an army! Very yummy. Others ordered the various types of tacos, which were all met with rave reviews. The definite favorite was the lighthouse taco. They also serve beer from the local brewery next door, which is pretty cool - supporting local business neighbors. Gina herself was there that day and she was very hands-on. She was mixing drinks, taking orders, and serving food. She was very chatty and friendly with us throughout our meal. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed Gina's. This is the place you WANT to love: local, lots of veggie options, looks like it's owned by a hippie. There are things holding it back, though. First, the food is quite good. Great options, solid non-meat options, decent beers. Prep time is a minus, though; when the product arrives at the table, it's hard to understand what took so long. Second, the service is definitely lacking. Not rude or anything, but indifferent. Third, and this is the killer: clean the place. Tables are sticky, floors are sticky, everything is sticky. The opening of Gina's has been long awaited. I know I am not alone when I say that I have driven by, walked by and even peered in the windows on more than one occasion...toiling away over what's going on inside this little shanty on St. Michael's main street. The chalkboard outside frequently gets an updated message for us every month or so, leading one to believe there is in fact life inside. Everyone seems to have a story about this cute little building, including that my husbands cousin used to live there once upon a time! We finally made it in with friends for a looksy last Friday night while waiting for a table down the street for dinner. I am so in love with this place I can hardly contain myself. Coming from 15 yrs in Colorado where taco shacks seem to grace every corner and homemade guac hides on every menu... we've been in serious mexican food withdrawal now for 3 months with no light at the end of the tunnel. Until now. I am a happy new transplant back in Maryland now that I have a standby, go-to beer & taco joint again. Gina's may be tiny but the ambiance is fantastic, a southwestern adobe feel inside - complete with fireplace, 4 or 5 tables & a BAR :) Beers were cold & mexican. Salsas & Guac outstanding. Homemade, spicy, lime driven....mmmm. My mouth is watering just thinking about a return visit. Can't wait to see what fantastic menu items Gina will create for us this spring. My wife and I stopped at Gina's for a lunch on a snowy Valentine's Day. We have walked by the place a number of times while in St Michaels. We walked in and caught a table in the back. It is a small place, only about 4 tables and a 6 seat bar, but tons of seats outside during warm weather. It's a casual place with tons of cool art on the wall. We ordered the Shore Nachos and crab tacos. They were amazing. The bloody mary was hot and tasty. I highly recommend this place if you have the opportunity can get a seat. Gina's is located on the edge of St. Michaels downtown business district. Though not large in size, barely more than a small shack with a few tables outside, this restaurant should be on your short list for dining options on the eastern shore. This taqueria has tasty Mexican food with a good balance of fresh seafood. I dined with a party of five and we all were in agreement that the food was fresh and flavorful. The special of the night, blackened shrimp tacos, and the sesame street tacos were the clear winners. The salsa was balanced with a hint of mango and was served alongside house-made tortilla chips. I disliked Gina's. The ambience of this place is reminiscent of manny similar places where I grew up in upstate New York. Definitely a hippie vibe, so we thought we were in for food that was at least comparable to the amount of work they put into making this place look shabby. It was a big disappointment. We were hoping something similar to El Loco in Albany, NY. Food was mediocre, margaritas were horrible, some sort of hummus on the menu was horrendous-- think it was papaya and pineapple. Also, we sat outside at a very rickety old table which was much more junk yard than functional. Advise you pass this one up. Delightful! We sat outside, comfortably under an umbrella, drinking local Eastern Shore Brewing beer (the honey saison - yum!) and fresh fruit margaritas (blueberry!) served by friendly and efficient staff. The tortilla chips are worth a mention on their own. They are buttery and crisp and a deep golden yellow. At least home-fried, if not constructed entirely in house. They're a generous size, too, so scooping is easy. I ordered the Avocado boat and we had gazpacho, which was served with the chips - a seemingly small detail that elevated the food a step above good to great. The gazpacho had some tooth to it but it was a consistent texture and not too cold. Scooped and spooned, it was very good. I like hot food but too much spice hides some of the great cucumber and onion taste beyond the tomato. This was a good medium. And there was Old Bay on top! The Avocado Boat was a ceramic boat with avocado stacked with their three-bean veggie chili, tomatoes, cheese, and then baked to a melty, soft, awesome hot pot of wonder. I was considering the Vegemite tacos and I'm glad our waitress (Audrey) steered me to that. Few things are as satisfying as warm avocado and cheese with truly fresh veggies. The special burrito was a scallop burrito. My dad had that and the scallops were huge, the burrito was a generous size, and criss-crossed with the chipotle mayo. Usually I don't write reviews for out-of-town experiences unless there is something exceptional to "yelp" about. Gina's Cantina is a small taqueria located in the heart of St. Michaels Maryland. All I can say is I am extremely jealous of the locals that get to enjoy this place on a regular basis. Gina's simply has the best fish tacos I have ever had. They have a small menu featuring the best the region has to offer. All organic vegetables, all local Maryland fish and crab, yes crab! Homemade tortillas and chips. Special tacos include blackened tilapia with spicy mayo and baby spinach, and grilled shrimp with fresh arugula. Staff is warm and friendly also. My only regret is that we ate lightly because of a big crab fest in the evening at my girlfriend's parents house. Upon my return visit I am getting the chef's tasting of everything! read more

Here's a quick synopsis: Food: -fish tacos were amazing- very fresh, hot, and filling -guacamole tasted old, almost rancid- a big negative for a Mexican food joint -chips were fresh and homemade, but didn't make up for the being sub-par Service: -Everything came out quickly, which was a plus -The servers were apathetic at best, and borderline rude at worst Value: -$50 for lunch for 2 people, sans drinks was a little steep Other: -There are some weird feminist postings in the restaurant and restroom. Very uneven meal. Good cocktails. My partner was pretty happy with his shrimp tacos but my quesadilla was totally flavorless. Tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and balsamic but badly in need of basic salt and pepper and the mushrooms were raw buttons instead of being sautéed to bring out their flavor. Wow, just fantastic. Great outside seating, and inside is cozy and friendly. The famous shore nachos were by far the best nachos I have ever tasted. The portions are huge. The crab meat is just piled on and will last to the last bite. The chips we're also a surprise, in that they must use some sort of proprietary ultra chip recipie, they are big, crunchy, and hold an unusual amount of toppings without breaking, and somehow do not get soggy, even to the last bite. Super friendly people working there. We just walked in and chatted about eating there later on and they were nice, laid back and chatty. We came back later and sat outside on the patio. They have a selection of about 6 high-quality beers on tap and rotating food specials. We opted for the Tres Dippy which, besides it's funny name, is your choice of 3 of the dips - we got tapenade (salty!), guacamole (average), and pumpkin hummus. The pumpkin hummus was awesome!! Go get some of that before it's not longer pumpkin-flavor-everything season! I really liked the chips they served. They were a variety of white, red and blue corn.
