We had the best meal at San Miguel's. We had the street corn app, Ahi tuna tacos with wasabi crème fraîche and chicken fajitas. Everything was made fresh to order and delicious. I haven't written a review in years, but this experience warranted my input if only to warn other tourists. I came in with very low expectations- as a Mexican from Southern California, I already know that food will be different out here. But I think the current rating of 3.5 stars is generous. The atmosphere - at first glance all looks ok. However the decor was large portraits of clearly AI generated interpretations of Mexico imagery. The three caballeros were especially interesting given the front legs of the horse were TWISTED! The food - the chips were stale and salsa was clearly jarred. Absolutely nothing was fresh. I felt like Gordon Ramsey in here thinking that's frozen. Ordered fried shrimp tacos, it was frozen popcorn shrimp on a tortilla drowned in tomatoes and a sweet chipotle cream. Ugh inedible. The beans were canned and still had the processed taste. Overall, not worth the stop and very very disappointing. Will note that the couple that was seated before me ordered the chimichanga and pushed his plate away. his date took one bite of her tacos and left. They paid and left! So I'm being kind. read more

The owner, Jennifer, is always present and welcoming. The service is awesome. The whole team works cohesively and professionally. The food is freshly prepared and presented with a festive flare. A great Mexican restaurant (finally!) after tolerating others who make queso which tastes like paste and over seasoning all of their dishes with cilantro (to 10% of the population, cilantro tastes like soap). Start with the queso; it is truly one of the best ever. A very creative menu - there is something for everyone (see attached photo of street corn ribs). I rarely write reviews but feel it is my civic duty to caution people not to eat here. The food is inedible. Which commonly happens when you microwave things for extended periods of time. I had tacos which were inedible. Rubbery shrimp (again, frequently happens when microwaved), stale cabbage, and some tortillas from a bag -- no attempt to warm or cook in any manner. The service was horrible. We went just as they were opening for lunch and while staff were excellent at standing around, actually tending to customers is not their forte. Overall, terrible. Do yourself a favorite and quench your TexMex craving with breakfast burrito from the Exxon down the street. read more

San Miguels is the cutest, woman owned, small business right on Talbot Street. The restaurant was small, tastefully decorated and with no frills, but don't let that deter you - the food was, as my husband and I say "That definitely doesn't suck" meaning it was absolutely delicious!!! We loved everything about it- fresh ingredients, well seasoned, prepared and homemade!! The trio dip (guacamole, queso and street corn dip), carne asada tacos, ahi tacos, all the sauce options and Spanish rice were amazing!!! All margaritas are made fresh with agave and lime juice, not gross sour mix at no additional charge which was a nice surprise. You have to save room for the most delicate apple pie enchiladas for a sweet treat to end your meal! Ever pay so much for a meal so bad that you decided to reactivate your YELP ACCOUNT? I have not been on Yelp in YEARS but I had to log back in for this. I got the sixteen dollar burrito and now I think I know what it would taste like if I went to a grocery store 10 minutes before closing and made one at the salad bar. The lack of flavor was as shocking as the bill for 2 people to get a burrito, a seventeen dollar quesadilla, one app, one soda and one beer (over $60). The queso was the only thing that was good. The salsa was watery and without flavor. The sides are comically small (about a tablespoon). They seem to have dozens of tequilas on their limited menu (an entire page) but I cannot imagine wanting to DRINK drink in there. There just isn't a comfortable enough environment for that. I suppose I should have known when I walked in and noticed no sauces of any kind on the tables, only fake succulents. Never again. I gave them a try; I was disappointed (mad, actually). There are plenty of other places to get food that is ACTUALLY GOOD in this town. read more

I have eaten at San Miguel's twice. The food is all very fresh starting with their homemade sauces and guacamole! I love the variety of choices as one visit was for dinner eating heavier and the other was lunch eating lighter. Lots of good options! BTW the margarita I had was very good! Their food no matter how ambitiously marketed as authentic is nothing more than a glorified version of a 7-11 quality taquito, or burrito, unless you have the surprise of being served an under cooked shrimp dish. Not sure who the owners actually are, but they have no business operating a restaurant like this and potentially risking the health of many unsuspecting people. Not the best I have had. We had takeout tacos ($ 5 each), very greasy. Grease in the bottom of the aluminum foil and the tacos were soaked in it. I asked for a mix of hot and mild salsa. I got mild with packets of hot sauce. Not what I expected. The chicken was ok, the beef, very good but greasy. And be forewarned, your get charged an extra fee for takeout- maybe the only restaurant in town that does that. 15 minute wait for the tacos. It has seating and is cute. The grease and the charge for takeout were annoying. And no Frahitas, back to Rusticana for that (and no takeout charge) read more

Getting Mexican food in St. Michaels is not a good idea to begin with. That said this would be a terrible place wherever it was located. There were four of us and no one was happy with the food. Two of us had shrimp tacos. They consisted of a chewy taco shell a handful is shredded cabbage and pieces of deep fat fried shrimp. Tasteless, dry and very skimpy for the price. one of us had two small burritos that were so tough she couldn't cut them. actually all us tried to cut them and could not. We speculated that they had been nuked in a microwave or left in a warmer for a couple of days. absolutely inedible. When we complained they sent out a substitute taco . They charged us for both the inedible meal and the substitute. To cap off the experience after we left we discovered all of us had uncomfortable burning eyes. Each of us had thought it was a personal problem but in talking afterward discovered it had happened to each one of us. It must have been something in the air.
