I had such a great time at Gina's Italian Restaurant! Honestly, the food was incredible--everything we ordered was delicious and tasted totally authentic. What really impressed me was the manager, Carlos Estevez. Even though the place was absolutely slammed and super busy, he was still running around making sure every single table was taken care of. It was a dark and stormy night. Hail pounding the car as we pull up. We hurried in and fight the door against the wind. As we enter, it's nice and calm. Warm lighting and cozy. Surrounded by many pieces of art work. The place was slow, with only a few wet patrons waiting out the rain. We are greeted and seated by a nice server who quickly gets us water, some bread, and tomato spread. The bread was nice. Lightly toasted. The spread topping may have been balsamic vinegar, olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, and some Italian herb seasoning. We ordered two dishes: spaghetti with meatballs and butternut squash ravioli. The spaghetti with meatballs was below average. What the spaghetti did right was the sauce's bright acidity and the velvety texture with the butter. On the other hand, the meatballs were burned, lukewarm, and half breadcrumbs. The meatballs were cooked beyond Maillard browning and bits of charcoal spotted the exterior. The amount of breadcrumbs made the meatballs too tough. Additionally, the spaghetti itself was overdone and too soft. All of this combined made an unpleasant texture. On the other hand, the squash ravioli was a fantastic dish. Nice large filling with paper thin ravioli skins. Wonderful unbroken butter and cream sauce. However, I don't know how this happened but there was some cross contamination with some seafood? A penny sized chunk of overcooked scallop made it into the dish which could be alarming for those who are allergic to seafood. A year ago, we visited for my boyfriend's birthday and thisbyear we visited again for the second time for an early birthday celebration of mine! This time, we got the Eggplant Parmiagiono and one of their special dishes, zucchini blossoms! I have to say, the zucchini blossoms was the highlight of our meal. We came here while on a trip to visit a relative and they suggested we try Gina's. There was not much of a crowd on a Wednesday night and we were seated immediately. The dining room isn't very large but it has a nice atmosphere as pictures of Italian towns and sculptures line the walls, while the speakers play soothing Italian guitar music. There is also a lit patio but we did not sit there. The service was very good and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had already had a large lunch that day but I could not resist trying their chicken parmigiano, which is one of my favorite dishes whenever I go to a new Italian restaurant. The dish was flavorful and had a good texture and I ate every bite. Everyone else in my group including my relative enjoyed their meals, such as the lasagna and the seafood pasta (frutti di mare). I am glad that my relative introduced us to this place and I would recommend trying it if you are in the area. read more

Still A Fine Neighborhood Choice..... Gina's in the village part of Arroyo Grande is an old standby when we want Italian food for dinner. Since moving to Nipomo in May 2018, we've been to Gina's at least 20 times...including takeout during Covid. We went twice in August 2025. On our first visit, the food - a seafood risotto "special of the day" - was good enough to raise my previous rating to 5 stars. 10 days later, we were back with 2 other couples and had a dish I order everywhere...eggplant parmigiana. It was large with 3 pieces of eggplant plus pasta....but it was only warm - not hot - and the marinara sauce was way too sweet. Back down to 4 stars. Service was fine and friendly, as usual. Seating on the patio during a mild late summer evening was great. Ambiance remains that of a very good neighborhood Italian restaurant where adults and families can both enjoy themselves. Note to the kitchen - Make sure your signature sauce returns to its roots. read more

I was visiting a college friend and we decided to try this spot for dinner. We started with the cheese curds and calamari as appetizers--both were solid choices. The calamari was especially good: crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly light. The cheese curds were tasty as well. For the main course, I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. It arrived piping hot with steam rising from the plate, which is always a good sign. The sauce was rich and creamy without being overly heavy, which is tough to pull off with Alfredo--definitely impressive. We came in around 5pm, so the restaurant wasn't too busy yet. Some of our favorites include the brussels and calamari for appetizers (although the complimentary bread with bruschetta sauce is amazing in itself), the homemade ravioli varieties-no matter what type you get, the seafood pasta and their crispy thin pizza. My wife and I went to Gina's for Valentine's Day. The food was good and the service was spot on. I had the Shrimp and Scallops Carbonara. This was loaded with goodies but it was a tad bit dry. I enjoyed it, however. The side salad was cold, crispy and the blue cheese was real tasty. My wife had the Bolognese and she really enjoyed it. I tasted it and it was very good. Que rico! We encountered this place by accident and are so glad we did! The food was delicious and homemade. But the best was the customer service provided by their general manager, Carlos. What a guy, he was able to accommodate my family and me even though we didn't have a reservation. He was quick to get my kids' order and brought their food right away because he understood that my kids were starving. He introduced me to the cook, Nico, who was also very nice and attentive. I have been coming to Gina's for many years. My family previously had relatives who lived in AG and we vacation in the area a few times per year. We enjoy coming here as the staff are friendly and they have a lovely covered patio setting. They also take reservations and have nearby parking behind the restaurant if you can't find street parking in front. The reason for docking a star is I find some of the food to be inconsistent in quality. I have had some dishes which I absolutely love, such as one of the scallop specials. But i have also had dishes which disappointed me; the meat in the beef short ribs in the stroganoff was disappointing and did not resemble short ribs as I am used to having them and the pasta during my most recent visit was quite undercooked - I do not appreciate al dente fettuccine. I will say their sauces are spot on, the pink sauce in the scallop fettuccine pasta was fantastic. They also have excellent fresh complimentary bread. I am always eager to see what the daily specials are as those tend to be some of the best dishes. While I imagine we will continue to visit Gina's due to the ambiance, service, and ability to make a reservation fairly last minute, I would not say they are the best Italian food in the area. When it comes down to the quality and consistency of the food being top notch, I would be more likely to seek out Rosa's or Giuseppe's in Pismo. Rosa's takes reservations but Giuseppe's does not and often has a long wait. read more

The brochette and bread are brought to the table, excellent made in house bread. G ordered a started salad and his "favorite" Lasagna. I ventured with a starter Caesars salad no croutons and my main entree was Seafood pasta. I was disappointed the dressing just wasn't there for me, too lite, no anchovie flavor, Romaine with a drizzle, thanks. The Seafood pasta was good, I specified the white wine sauce as opposed to my usual red sauce. Plenty of mussels a couple of large scallops a couple of 16/20 shrimp with a good share of Salmon and another white fish. Good size portion yes but good price too at $30, I didn't see the value. G said his lasagna was delicious but he remembered a red sauce that was more marinara. Our server Alex said the desserts are made in house so I ordered a slice of tiramisu, I was not disappointed best I've had in a long time, it was perfect. I also ordered a piece of their carrot cake to take home. The service was outstanding and fast. The manager even made his rounds and did a great job welcoming us as new customers. This Italian restaurant had us make some double takes. The simple fresh bread and the bruschetta started us off on a high note. The bruschetta is so rich and tasty and garlicky. Yum. The appetizer we ordered was crazy good. You must try the stuffed squash blossoms. Petite but packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Calamari Piccata I ordered the Chicken Marsala. Both were delicious And then we made room for dessert which is all made in house. The crème brûlée was very good. I like it on the firmer side but it was really tasty. For dinner my girlfriend friend ordered the homemade ravioli and I ordered the rigatoni California. Both were very very well made and tasted Superb For dessert were got the cheesecake, we both thought it was made in house. When I heard the waitress tell the next table they had crème brûlée I had to order that as well. With two appetizers, one being a special, two entrées and two desserts, tax and tip. I last wrote about this wonderful local restaurant 2 years ago when my wife and I went for an early dinner on Valentine's Day. This year, we went a day early. It was wonderful then and even better now! I can honestly say we felt like our meals were prepared just for us! We enjoyed an exceptional shrimp appetizer, the salmon and mahi mahi main dishes, and a "blueberry" cheesecake to end the evening. One of my best overall experiences in dining for sure.
