After a very long day of cross country travel, delays, and only small airplane snacks for breakfast and lunch, I was ready for a big dinner after finally getting all checked in to my hotel. I asked the front desk for their recommendations, and of course they recommended a place next door and while it was fancy with an elaborate menu, my low blood sugar state was craving some serious high calories so I opted for Gino's as it was also very close to my hotel. When I entered the place, I was the only customer there. I wanted to order the lasagna, but the nice young lady taking my order mentioned it would take some time to prepare, so I asked what she suggests something big and won't take long to make and it was classic spaghetti & meatballs, so I ordered that. Five minutes after sitting down, the young lady brought me a huge Cesar's salad. I'm not a big salad guy, but this was delicious! The lettuce was very fresh and the sauce and croutons were surprising very tasty. It was so good, I had to compliment her for making such a nice salad. A few minutes later a good size plate of spaghetti & meatballs arrived and two large pieces of garlic bread. Everything was satisfyingly good. I dined on this feast for 45 minutes and made the short walk back to the hotel feeling great. It was so good, I went again the next day and tried the lasagna. I lived in SLO in 2020, and Gino's was my go-to pizza spot back then. I left for a few years, and now that I'm back, I can confidently say it's still my favorite pizza in town. Funny story--my husband and I got married during COVID, and at the time this was one of the only places open. We grabbed pizza here, and to this day he swears it's the best pizza in all of California. This visit was extra special because I got to share it with my three-year-old daughter. She absolutely loved it--especially the small arcade in the back, which was a fun little bonus and kept her entertained while we ate. The environment is great: plenty of parking, clean interior, lots of seating, and a very welcoming vibe. They offer a wide range of Italian dishes, but my go-to will always be the pepperoni pizza--just look at the pictures. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. What a pleasant surprise! I got Gino's special thinking it's be a regular old pizza. It looks like any old pizza joint in a college town so I wasn't expecting much. I came here because it was right next to my hotel. The pizza took a while, but it was delicious and huge! This was a pleasant surprise! Unassuming exterior but spacious and clean interior. Plenty of space, nice large tables - perfect for fitting pizza and apps without overlapping each other. Between our family of 4, we polished off a large pizza, 10 BBQ wings, with sodas and beer. We were stuffed (guess I'll start my new year diet plan tomorrow instead lol). We enjoyed both orders - the chicken was meaty and tender and the Meat Lovers Pizza was better than expected. The meat was good quality, nicely distributed and a good ratio of meat/sauce/cheese/crust. I'm pretty picky about pizza just because it has to be worth the calories. They even have an arcade room. They have all the classic pizzas, and the margherita one was really good. I don't typically like whole tomatoes, but they were cooked so perfectly, it just added more flavor to the pizza. I ate here a few years ago with my friend, when we ran the City to the Sea Half Marathon. I ate here again this summer, when I was visiting all of the 21 CA Missions. The pizza and salads are good. Service is pretty quick, and the space inside is pretty big. Tables for smaller parties and larger parties. This would be a great place for a kids sports dinner. Gino's/Ron, WTH. First, 3 times ago I found out Manager Brad (the BEST customer service I've received on the central coast) was canned. Then last visit, 2 weeks ago, the pizza was thicker dough than normal and the bathroom was dirtier than I'd ever seen it before. Then this time, the regular guy upfront and regular guy making the pizza's weren't there. The pizza went right back to when they first opened the SLO restaurant a decade ago, way too much dough (bread pizza) that it felt like one continuous crust. No more snap on the bottom, but replaced by floppy/rubber. The top part of the dough was undercooked (due to thickness). There was less sauce than how it's been, plus the sauce that was there was watered down, with blasts of oregano. The cheese was less also. It seemed as a shell of what it was, just a few months ago. The water cups were slightly larger than a Dixie bathroom cup, old plastic clear ones??? My wife said the bathroom was filthy, with no toilet seat covers. The fans weren't on and no doors were open. Only half of the lights were on. Felt like we were in a Finnish Sauna, eating bread. *Talk about a 180. Let's see....everything was great and now, a guy sits at a computer next to the registers, at a booth and tells you, "Tell me when you're ready." Not a great experience. We heard it was good so my family member wanted to bring us here. We planned to come at 7:45 pm. The website said that they close at 9 PM but when we got there, they said that they were closing and they could not accommodate us over an hour early.. my sister-in-law is gluten-free and so it was very disappointing that she couldn't enjoy the salad we came here for. We came with decent size group so too bad that they didn't want the business. We also ended up having to spend $20 in the arcade bc the kids came in before we were told that they were closing early, despite having at least 40 people in the restaurant. We were told we couldn't sit down and could not order salad. When we left, a large biker group came in and they were helping them. Bad business plan when it seems that they just wanted to go home.
