Impossible to get an appointment within 2 weeks that's not 8 am or 7 pm. Tried to make a prenatal massage appointment and next available was 7 weeks ahead. Overpriced for service. read more

I haven't had a massage in 15 years, as my last experience was less than desirable, so I was a little skeptical but I had gotten a gift card for Christmas and decided to book an appointment. I settled for a 60 minute Swedish massage and Aveda facial. The salon/spa was very clean and bright and the front staff were very welcoming and sweet. After checking in, I was led to the spa waiting room that was lovely and serene. I had enough time to fill out my paperwork before being greeted by my massage therapist, Sierra. She was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable. Once the massage started I was in heaven. I haven't been that relaxed in a LONG time. Sierra did an amazing job; I asked for a firm massage and her pressure was perfect. I melted into the table and felt perfectly relaxed and de-stressed. I could have done that for another 15 minutes!! One my massage was complete, I was ushering back out to the waiting room for a few minutes before being greeted by Kaitlyn. Oh my, gosh!! I thought the body massage relaxed me, but wow!! The facial was bliss. I was so incredibly relaxed and completely zen. I am now a fan of massages and facials and will be booking these on the regular and gifting these services for birthdays and holidays. Great job to all!! Next try is the salon services. I have been a customer of Ginger Bay for over thirty years. I recently had a service which I paid for at checkout and later realized the bill I paid was not for me but for a different client. I was told by Ginger Bay to pay the correct bill for my services which I did and I would receive a refund for the erroneous service. Despite numerous efforts, explanations and documentation I have never received the refund for the erroneous charged paid when I checked out. I have now paid essentially double for my service. I have been coming to ginger Bay for 20 years. My kids always buy me $500 in gift cards. I like the services. My main complaint is that for two years or more the machine to make hot water has never ever worked no matter how many times I complained and then you ask the girls at the front desk to bring you water and they forget so the calmroom ends up being a frustration room. I had a color touchup on 12/21/25. I was expecting to be charged around $75 for my service. That was the cost, but they added on an additional $43 to blow dry my hair!!!! When I questioned that, they said that is the new pricing structure and I should've been contacted. Well, I wasn't told beforehand... But nonetheless, I can't imagine why they would think charging for a blow dry at that amount is acceptable!! It's outrageous. Even more confusing they said that if you get a haircut then a blow dry is included. Craziest reasoning I have ever heard of. So do they want people walking out of the salon into the winter weather with soaking wet hair after getting a color? I was also told that other salons in the area was charging this, and they were just trying to keep up. So I called several salons and they were equally as horrified to hear my story. My wife and I had great massages today, with Anna and Jill. Both did an outstanding job. This is a great facility with excellent amenities. And the best part was the massages were free. We only had to pay for an upgrade and the tip. This was an unexpected surprise. We originally booked for a few months ago and they had to cancel them due to a staffing issue. When we rescheduled for today, we were told they would do something for us. We we're expecting a discount or something. When we checked in we were informed that there would be no charge. My hair was badly damaged from colors (overprocessed or maybe the bleaching but it was bad) and I called this salon to see if there is something they can do to help with my issue. The lady I spoke with suggested coming in for a consultation with a master stylist/color specialist for 15 min. They were able to get me in for said consult that very same day around 8pm. Corrine suggested hair treatment and going back to my original dark color to help hide the damage, in fact, darker this time since she would have to do it twice. After my consultation, I booked the appointment to go ahead and do everything she had suggested. My first appointment with Corrine took about 3 hours but I came out feeling so much better about my hair. Albeit, the damage could not be undone, she was able to trim some of them off and the damage have become barely noticeable after she got my hair color back to black. My hair also felt lighter and shinier like nothing has ever happened to them! I was blown away. She did 2 treatments and 2 colors that day and cut. Today, I came in just for a haircut and saw Corrine again and came out happy with the way she took care of my hair. Honestly, I can't even tell where the damaged area are now. I'm sure I will tomorrow since I can never fix it the way she does but I'm glad to say that I love my hair again thanks to this salon and Corrine! read more

Lovely salon. I had a problem with another place in town and Ginger Bay came to my rescue, making sure my sister got her birthday gift certificate present on time. I really appreciated their time and effort. It is so hard sometimes buying from out of town, but they made it painless. My sister took her pre teen girls and got mommy daughter pedicures and had an absolute blast. My nieces loved their pink margarita toes and the bonding time with their mom. I know it was a great birthday treat for my sister as well. I really like that they were speedy, trustworthy and gave my sister and nieces a good time with quality pedicures. When I finally went, the waiting area had a very nice ambience and the wait was short. Nice. The therapist asked about pressure. Deep tissue to her must mean using her elbow! Almost the entire massage was with lots and lots of oil and her elbow. It was weird. I also paid extra to add hot stones, but didn't get it. I used to frequent GB to get massages and pedicures but since I moved to the city, it had been a year since I was there. I decided to give myself a treat and get a facial. I called GB and asked for a facial with the first available person. I scheduled the appointment for today with Ms.xx. I hate to say this, but it was not very pleasant. The young woman who worked with me was MUTE the entire time. When I asked her a question she replied "I'll tell you at the end" When I asked what something was that she brushed on my face, she ignored me all together. When I told her how much I love Aveda products she said nothing. She also groaned a few times like she was disgusted. Her aloofness and manner made me uncomfortable and I just wanted to leave. I was unsure to give 1 or 2 stars but this being my first time getting a haircut at Ginger bay I was weary since I dread anyone cutting my hair. It's hard to find someone to trust. At first I was told I had to wait 2 weeks until I could get an appointment with anyone. So I finally got in and at first liked my haircut but it's not until I got home that I realized the front layers around my face were uneven and not matching. Hair school 101 tells you to match up both sides of hair, she never checked to make sure. So one side was much shorter than the other! At home I took scissors and fixed it myself! Instead of having to go back up to the salon again or call. I also asked for some shearing as well but she did a few tiny snips and was done. I was told to have a hair straightener on my hair would cost an extra $10 at no other salon have I ever been told this! They just automatically do it I said no way. The shampooing of my hair was extremely painful I didn't say anything but I didn't know why she was pressing so hard into my scalp? Ouch!! I wish I saw the other reviews on Yelp before I went here. If you pay money you shouldn't have to go home and fix your hair again. Also, used to think this salon was so upscale and nice but it was rather dirty and dark inside. read more

2 stars for the moronic way they handled my cancelled appointment. I scheduled a "mother-daughter spa day" 2 months ahead of my scheduled Monday appointment. I received a call about 2 hours ahead of said scheduled appointment informing me that my practitioner (not my mother's) was sick. Naturally, they offered alternate times to "make up" my appointment. One of which was 45 minutes from the received voicemail--which was stupid! Look, I get that people get sick. I get it. I empathize. Speaking with a representative at the salon, they were apologetic and were offering alternate times for me to come in that day. I repeatedly told them it was impossible for me to reschedule my day around those alternate times and that this was a "spa day for 2" already scheduled months in advance (which, they should've known). They apologized. And in true moronic fashion, repeatedly offered me alternate times (for that same day) that weren't going to work! Really? Are you listening?!!? After more brainstorming and discussion, I eventually asked if they had any open manicure appointments and was met with, "I'm so sorry. We're all booked." After all of that, I dropped my mother off for her appointment and then picked her up to a seemingly empty salon. Really?! I've been going here for years. It would've been nice to have been "squeezed in" for a service or offered some other kind of consolation I suppose. My disappointment lies in not feeling like a valued customer. read more

Ginger Bay is my sassy little splurge when I'm stressed out and need to find a little spa happiness. This is an Aveda/Murad product salon but the nice thing is that they don't shove it down your throat. The environment is soothing and slightly new agey without being snotty. I've had some massage experiences that range from average to AMAZING and the same goes for their hair cuts. The waxing services are excellent also. You're in a private room that's very soothing and all around zen-like. They take their time and my brows always look fantastic. The thing that really keeps me coming back though, is the pedicures. Specifically, when April does my pedicure. This is probably too much info but I have less than stellar nails and damned if she doesn't make them look and FEEL perfect every single time. I wear my shoes until they literally fall apart and I was mispronouncing "Versace" long before Jessie Spanno stole our hearts in Showgirls. But for reasons unknown (read: being bullied by a bunch of jerk-o's in grade school) hair is the exception. And when it's time for my semi-annual haircut, no one does better work than Ginger Bay. I've tried less-pricey salons in St. Louis and I'm never thrilled with the results. To me, it's worth it to spend the extra $10-$15 and have a look you're truly happy with, because you've got to look at that mop every day. And truly, the prices aren't THAT bad compared to other Aveda salons. I've seen in reviews and quick tips of this place that the staff is snobby and I just don't get that at all. If I did, I'd never go back. Low-maintenance girls shrivel up and die in snooty places. My first choice for a stylist is, was and always will be Bobby. He just gets it. He's great at listening, giving suggestions and keeping up the conversation during the process. I also think it's cool that after working at Ginger Bay for 5 years, he still comes off genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about working there. But if he's unavailable, I feel confident enough in the rest of the staff to take an appointment with someone else. One of these days I'll get around to trying their other services, but for now I'm good giving away my hard earned money on a quality haircut. read more

I absolutely love, and I mean LOVE this place! For an early Christmas gift, I brought my boyfriend and I to get customized facials and I also got a chemical peel as well at Ginger Bay Spa together. We each got an hour and at least for me, I felt AMAZING afterwards. Not only did they do an awesome facial, they also massaged my arms and legs. My chemical peel felt terrific and my skin felt fabulous after walking out of the spa. I cannot wait to go back very soon. The prices were not too bad as our facials were $80 each and since I added a chemical peel, it was an additional $20 so for a customized facial and chemical peel for $100 was a great deal! read more

My favorite salon!!! I've been coming here for about 15 years, primarily for haircuts but also pedicures and massages on occasion. The staff is all extremely friendly and provide the best service. You are offered delicious comforting Aveda tea or another beverage when you arrive and treated so nicely.
