What an incredible experience! I'm a very low-maintenance girlie who gets my hair done maybe once a year. I wanted a refreshed new look, and Dominic Michael gave me exactly that and more. Booking my appointment online was super easy. They had lots of time slots to choose from. I showed up to my appointment, checked in at the counter, and not long after, Gena gave me a warm greeting. The inside of the salon is super clean and welcoming. I appreciated how the floors were constantly getting swept throughout the time I was there. I'm indecisive about most things, including my hair, but Gena was very patient with me and helped me narrow down what I want. We decided to do highlights and a haircut. I have very long hair, and I have a lot of it. Gena blew me away by her thoroughness and precision. It's clear she's an expert at what she does! She applied a gloss to my hair, then Keaton took over and finished washing my hair. She was so friendly and sweet! Then, I headed over to Olivia for my haircut and blow dry. I had recently just switched over from Christina White salon to Dominic Michael. I had previously paid 2.8k for my Bellami hair extensions (2 rows) and got a move up with Nicole and took one of my rows out. I quickly started to see a ton of hair loss in chunks and was quick to reach out to her. She told me it was because she took out my second row and that it should get better- It didn't. I saw a new hair stylist today and she took out all my extensions and come to find out- Nicole had cut the end of two of my extensions (i have 6 in a row) making them not reusable bc of how bad the hair was falling off. Knowing how much I paid for the extensions I couldn't understand why she would do this. It ruined my extensions that I paid SO much for and were in great condition before I saw her. I was looking for a place to take my daughter to get a pixie cut, from fairly long hairstyle. A stylist was recommended from this salon. When I called to get an appointment, she was not available in the time I needed (wanted my daughter to get her dream cut before starting kindergarten- she has been asking for this short style for a year). The woman on the phone asked me to wait and came back with two other stylists names...I booked and my daughter was so excited. When we arrived, the stylist indicated she could not cut a pixie style, seeming to be annoyed that I was a little frustrated. The staff could not provide any solutions as my daughter was leaving town and today was our only day before the start of school. I moved to Ucity and my friend told me about this salon near my home. I decided to take a chance (covid hair needed some fixing)! My stylist was newer (3years). She seemed like she knew what I wanted...I was blondish color and super dry. So she was going to do some rose color with the blond highlights and a moisture treatment. I walked out with a bill over $300 and even more blonde! No red, rose at all! I went back a week later to fix and now I am a bright redhead!!! I have always struggled getting a good cut as my hair are Wavy and I have always loved to have layers like i did in India but never could replicate that here . But Teresa Cooper Amazzzinggg Stylist at Dominic Michael salon just did the most perfect layers I have had in years,. Both me and my mother are so happy after the cut. I have to say, I was really excited to get a new cut and had confidence that I would get exactly what I wanted. I showed my stylist (first time with her) 3 photos of the style I wanted which was an angled bob with the front at collar bone length and then back on the neck hairline. My hair was long going into the cut, so I knew we could make the length work. My stylist told me the front would be at my collar bones and asked if that worked - I agreed and on we went. As she was cutting, it seemed like it was all the same length. When she finished, it was all one length just under my chin. No angle and much shorter in the front than she told. I asked about it and she mumbled something about a miscommunication in the consultation. Totally not true. I asked if she told me she would keep the front at my collar bone, and she reluctantly said yes and agreed it was much shorter. She offered to cut the back shorter so it was more angled but I declined. At the end, I was charged full price at $89 for the cut. HORRIBLE experience. I actually had to walk out mid haircut. Be sure to read below for the followup. It was a super awful desperate follow up to awkward follow up to a horrible haircut experience. The stylist had no idea what it meant to have a full head layered. She layered the bottom half inch of my all one length hair and that was it. I tried to explain it to her and she got snotty and said she could "cut a couple pieces shorter but why would I want big chunks cut out of my hair?!" The thing that makes me mad is I asked ahead of time if she could handle curly hair and if she could do layers. They assured me she could do this. The other weird thing, the guy that was paying when I was there was told they only take cash or checks, no cards. What business or stylist doesn't take credit cards? That is crazy in this day and age. Square is pretty inexpensive and his bill was $110. I think they could eat the 2% it will take to run his credit card. They made him go across the street to the bank and the ATM because this is 2017 and no one writes checks anymore! No one warned me of this before I went there and I assume no one warned him either. Creepy policy! SOoooo here is a follow up for you. Last night the owner wrote to me on messages evidently and just now, he called me. I have to say that guy was an arrogant asshole and difficult to deal with. Towards the end of the conversation, he asked me if I would come into the salon for another haircut and I said maybe, it depends and then he started going off at how inaccurate my review was. I am just telling you my experience. The man in front of me was sent to the bank to get money or could take an envelope. He seemed upset about it. I had a stylist that couldn't cut layers even though I inquired in advance. You will NEVER get my business again and I will happily tell the world about it. If you are going to call me and dispute my review, at least be kind and professional and not defensive of your business and your stylist. She is inadequately trained. The end. read more

I went to Dominic Michael for the first time....and it was a true emergency. A big thanks to Jeena Klump for saving the day. I had gone to a salon that trashed my highlights and my hair cut. I was attending 2 of my daughters college grads on Sat...and Jeena came to the resuce. She corrected the nightmare color...(I looked like a white haired sheep)...I had only asked the previous place for highlights and not to go any blonder...ooops that did not work. Jeena corrected the color beautifully and also corrected the previous haircut that looked like my hubby took the weed whacker to it. The Salon itself was just full of a diverse group of people. I met Ryan through my roomie. Definitely knows his hair. First appointment was 1/29/2015. Had a life changing experience on 1/31/2015. 100% believe that this haircut had complete connection with that. Seriously. I said a few things about what I wanted on top of my head during our appointment. And the man went to work. WOW! Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have had my hair cut here before, I'm a little particular about my hair and knew they would do a good job. I remember being very happy with my cut and service at that time, but it was a while ago. Today I got to experience their waxing services. I had done some online research for the best brazilians in St. Louis, as I am thoroughly fed-up with the awful service I have received at European Wax Center, and Dominic Michael came up several times... specifically for a staff member named Amy. After so many glowing reviews, I called up and made an appointment specifically with her. There is a reason why she is all the rave online - she MAKES this service. From start to finish, this was the most enjoyable (as enjoyable as a brazilian can be... ya hear me ladies?) experience I have had at a waxing appointment. The salon is gorgeous and conveniently located off of Ladue Road near the Ladue Schnucks. The waxing room has warm lighting, pretty art on the walls and they play soothing music - you would ALMOST think you were about to get something a little more enjoyable, like a massage. I was led through the whole process and well informed on all of the materials they use. They have a product that is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. The session itself was quick but thorough and I'm definitely thrilled with the experience and my results. I will continue to utilize this location for both my hair and waxing needs. I am usually very low-maintenance about my hair, getting it cut only twice a year, basically when the only way that it looks acceptable is by pulling it up into a pony tail. When I do finally get it cut, I wait until I find a picture of something that I like, which doesn't happen very often. I am VERY PICKY about my hair & in the past, more times than not, I have not been super happy with most haircuts. Until now. This was my first time coming to Dominic Michael in Ladue. The salon is beautiful, you are immediately greeted at the front desk and offered a beverage while waiting or while getting your hair done. On this visit, I not only requested a haircut, but also color. Jessica was awesome! She did my cut & color, and did both beautifully. This is one of the few times in my life that I can honestly say that I love my haircut & she took extra time making sure that the color was totally perfect and exactly what I wanted. I'm very happy with this salon. I move a lot and have to choose salons based almost solely on Yelp reviews (and sometimes I end up picking just on how quickly the salon can get me in once I've narrowed it down). I'm glad that the reviews were consistent for this place. I have gotten my hair colored with Stacey four times now, and she was good at listening to what I want and translating that into a hair color. One time I incorrectly booked what type of color I wanted, and it took 2 hours longer than I had booked, but Stacey moved around her schedule and was able to take care of me. (While still making sure her next customer was taken care of, which is important, because we've all had to wait for an hour because one customer showed up late... and it sucks!) I suggested a friend come to Stacey for a cut and he thought it was fine but not great. There didn't seem to be any referral benefit, but that didn't really bother me. The front desk staff are attentive but seem a little over-worked at times. It's ALWAYS busy when I go in, which is a good sign for a salon. The retail products are over-priced, but I've never seen a salon where that wasn't true. read more

If you have long, straight hair that anyone can cut, this place is fine. I don't live in stl and thought I desperately needed a haircut and color. Big mistake! Now I really need them!!! I specifically asked for a stylist who was good with shorter fine hair, and I wanted it cut for VOLUME. My stylist blunted all the layers that give my hair lift and colored it a brown that is now brassy and awful despite my warning her to stay away from red undertones. She also just blew me dry - no flat iron like I told her I use at home. $240 later, I left looking like a frumpy nun. read more

I was super excited to come here again to get my haircut and my friend recommended I see the same guy she went to who did a great job. I made an appointment to see him and when I got there after 10 min of waiting they told me he was still with his other client so gave me someone new. I didn't particularly care then cause the new lady was nice. But the haircut I got could not be considered a haircut. I asked for multiple inches off and you could not tell I got a haircut afterwards. Not once through the entire cut did she ask if I liked the length and I kept thinking she was going to cut more off but by the time I realized she was not going to cut anymore off it was too late and I felt too uncomfortable asking to get more cut off. Then the blow dry job was not good and left my hair looking dull and not well done in the back. I'm actually really disappointed in how this turned out because the last time I went to Dominic Michael I loved it, but I don't even want to return to get a refund for this "cut" that I paid way too much for. The salon itself is beautiful..looks like salons I've been to in Soho in New York inside. This review in particular is for David...I came in with bright yellow hair, botched by a different stylist at another salon. After explaining to David what I had wanted it to look like, he was very comforting and understanding, and gave me several options of what we could do. When he was done (we ended up doing a color gloss), my color was perfection-- I actually hugged him because I was so happy! Last month, I was in a wedding party that originally had plans to get our hair and makeup done at Blown Away, which is down the street. However, after they lost our reservations on the morning of the wedding and refused to help us, we needed a place to get an entire wedding party styled in a pinch. We walked into Dominic Michael at the last minute and asked if they could accommodate us, not expecting much because we knew it was a lot to ask. However, they were able to squeeze us in during an extremely busy time for the salon...and they did a fantastic job on our hair! Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I was treated very disrespectfully and I got the WORST haircut of my life!!!! I am ashamed to admit that tears were shed. Also one of the secretaries is an older blond woman with short hair and a rude attitude. My MIL raved about the loose waves Ashley styled for her. She said her hair had never looked better! I have been very unhappy with the last several haircuts I have received, so I am thusly a salon hopper: loyal to none[For posterity I have very long thick hair that I flat iron or curl. I like to have long layers, and long swoopy bangs. Simple enough yes? Apparently not, because every time I get a cut, I walk out missing 6 inches if hair I didn't bargain for, and a pathetic tiny wisp of an afterthought for bangs. Why are they so scared to bang me? I have an ample fivehead to accommodate a bang]. I went with the receptionist's recommendation Ryan and the rest is history. He was very engaging, funny, and **friendly**-which I think has become annoyingly rare these days.
