This place is solid. I'm not a huge fan of fast food Chinese. I typically find it to be too oily and the meat isn't always up to snuff. Recently, the hubs and I were looking for local delivery and the place down the street just doesn't cut it. We found Ginger House and it was a winner! The first time, we ended up actually eating in. It's pretty bare bones. Don't expect any atmosphere. Most of their business is takeout or order in. Forget about it being a date place unless you've been with your SO for like 5 years. It's clean but that's about it. The food is really good and that's what you come for. I've ordered in several times and it's pretty quick, even though I'm more than a few blocks away. I love their hot and sour soup. Since I don't normally eat it (I don't eat pork), it's nice to have a really good vegetarian option. My lactose intolerant husband loves their dairy-free mango lassi. All the food choices have proven to be good. It's solid vegetarian Chinese food in a neighborhood where you wouldn't expect just that. read more

Got the pineapple fried rice. It was a nice concept with sunflower seeds on the top. It gave it a unique texture compared to others I've has. Sadly the pineapple was a bit off though. Too strong tasting for the dish. Service was mediocre. I got waited on quick and they were nice in the beginning. Then I was forgotten about. I even had to go and ask for my check to a girl who seemed reluctant to acknowledge me. Hopefully it was an off night for them. But I'm not a hard core vegetarian so there's no need to seek this place out again. read more

TIP: this is all vegetarian cuisine. I discovered this place through Seamless and ordered the following: pad Thai, pad see ew, samosas, and vegetable curry. I wasn't given the option to add any meat to the order so in the order details I typed "chicken" for pretty much every order. I even called the place to add on a Thai iced tea and they never said anything about the chicken. When the food came I thought it was good, but I was a little confused as to why the meat didn't look like meat. I placed an order here via Seamless. Interesting how it was just under the "Chinese" section, but not under the "vegetarian." Being vegan, I stumbled upon a hidden gem in this area of Brooklyn. My food came really quickly, in about 20-30 minutes. I got everything I ordered. The food's flavor was not bad, the only bad thing is that the things I ordered ("spare ribs" and "teriyaki" with brown rice) was drowning in sauce (only a bad thing because I'm not a fan of too much sauce, but if that's your thing, more power to you). The sauce wasn't too oily though, which is good. I often hate it when I bite into a piece of broccoli and oil explodes in my mouth. It didn't happen with this place. Really good and reliable place for delivery. Love their numerous curries, drunken noodles, and appetizers like the Indian pancakes. Doesn't compare with the Thai restaurants in Queens, but one of the better ones in Brooklyn. They don't have meat options, but they do have something called seitan. I love seitan, always get it. Sadly, I need to update the review. A couple of my last orders were really not as good as when the restaurant just opened. Also, I stopped by for a pickup a few weeks ago and was shocked about how dirty the tables were in the restaurant. I came across this little gem when my husband and I were vegetarian for a minute there and realized besides pizza and pasta our options were very limited. Some googling later we come across ginger house and were skeptical at first, but I can honestly say they must put crack in their food because there's no other way something can taste that good without meat! We ordered the basil fried rice, drunken noodles, sizzling platter, Malaysian curry, green curry, red curry, etc. the consensus on our top two favorites was the drunken noodle and basil fried rice which has soy protein that tastes like meat and even textured like it. Sizzling platter was meh but I'm sure hot it would taste better but not as good as everything else. This was my first time ordering with Seamless and the first time using this restaurant. I have never had to throw away food before but I was physically ill after trying to eat from this order. The Pad Thai never gave an option and came with chicken by default, the cilantro TOFU had chunks of pork in it and we are vegetarians. The meal cost over $40 for two people and we threw most of it away. The restaurant in reply said it was all 'imitation meat' and refused to take responsibility. read more

There is so much wrong with this place I don't even know where to start! First off, I am vegan and I go out of my way to support vegan places. But this place isn't really vegan because the first time I went there a few weeks ago, I saw a bottle of non vegan oyster sauce on the counter. When I asked, the waitress let me know that the cooks prepare animal derived food for themselves presumably with the same pots/pans/utensils they provide for their customers. This makes issues such as cross contamination very likely...and THIS may explain why I have a nasty stomach bug today because it is almost impossible to contaminate foods if you are cooking 100% vegan. The place itself is extremely dirty and uninviting. All the tables are dirty with no silverware or napkins on them. Plus there was no soap, paper towels in the bathroom and the toilet paper was on the floor soaking up the nastiness there. Beyond disgusting! It is clear that these folks stopped caring about their customers a long time ago. The food is bland too. I really hope this place closes-I hate to say that but this place is awful. read more

After seeing all the recommendations for Drunken Noodles, I gave Ginger House a shot. I was pretty disappointed. Probably the worst Drunken Noodles I've ever had. The noodles were mushy and there was very little flavor (though there was some spice heat, which was nice). I had three bites and pushed it aside. Full disclosure: I've only had take out from here, never actually been inside this establishment. I've sampled alot of this menu and to me alot of the flavors are very similar to LuAnne's Wild Ginger in Brooklyn Heights. There is an ingredient that seems ubiquitous thru out all their menu, e.g., it's in their salad dressings, condiments, Cold Noodles, including dine of their smoothies, etc. I wish I knew what it was because then I could order dishes without it. Dishes I like; spring rolls, mango soy protein( lots of well cut vegetables), Scallion Pancakes (can be a little heavy on the hoisin) but, mango salsa is very light & refreshing counter. Went here for the first time and was pleased with the food but the in restaurant service was terrible . It was very cold inside and there was only one waitress that didn't give us our waters until 15 min into us sitting . It took a while for our food to come out but the food was amazing !!!!!!!!! Made me forget about the wait . It appeared they received many deliveries so maybe that's why our food took awhile. I would suggest them to have at least two waiters and train them to give out waters and check up on their tables . We weren't checked up on once . I tried Ginger House for the first time today & I promise you it won't be the last time. I ordered the soy protein nuggets, spinach wonton soup and the kale noodle salad. The nuggets were crispy. Delicious and so flavorful. The soup was probably the best wonton soup I've ever had. The kale salad was to die for. The prices are very affordable for the portions, flavor & quality. But the curry was really bad it had no taste and the sauce was horrible. I actually threw it out as couldn't eat it.
