I'm very grateful to have found Dr. Kaplan. His practice was my introduction to GLP-1 medication a couple of years ago, and it genuinely changed my life. This is a fast-moving field, and when a required additive was introduced into my medication, I didn't tolerate it well. When I asked about switching to a name-brand prescription through an online pharmacy, I was told it wasn't an option through this practice, without clear explanation or meaningful guidance about alternatives. What was most frustrating was the abrupt shift from feeling supported to feeling entirely on my own at the point when I was struggling with side effects and trying to continue treatment safely. After investing significant time, trust, and out-of-pocket cost into my care, being left to independently research and navigate solutions felt less like continuity of care and more like hitting a wall. I did ultimately figure things out myself, but patients shouldn't have to rely on internet research to solve medical problems when options appear to exist. The experience left me disappointed and, frankly, let down in a way that has stuck with me months later. I'm still thankful for the role Dr. Kaplan played in helping me start my weight-loss journey, but support shouldn't end when treatment becomes more complicated. Back in the spring of 2019, I was in the market for a surgeon to perform my (long-awaited) rhinoplasty procedure. I found a surgeon in San Jose that I really clicked with and planned to go to. But when finances came up, I realized I would need help in order to afford the procedure. Thankfully my godfather came to the rescue and helped me out. Though when he came into the picture, he said that his dermatologist had recommended a surgeon who was in the same building as him - Dr. Kaplan. When the consultation came around, right off the bat I could tell that Dr. Kaplan was a great surgeon and a great guy, who had a very palpable passion for his craft. He was really nice and listened to what I said with enthusiasm. Though as the consult went on, I could tell that he was more concerned with the dorsal hump (my bump) and adding a supra-tip break rather than my main concern, which was the bulbous tip of my nose along with the fact that it veered to the right (see below). My bump was actually the least of my concerns. While I did want to minimize the size of it, I actually wanted to keep a slight bump. But I mainly wanted to focus on refining and minimizing the size of the tip of my nose and correcting the asymmetry in the tip and nostrils as much as I could.  Yet because I'm passive and never want to hurt anyone's feelings (since he was my godfather's recommendation), I ignored my own and decided to have Dr. Kaplan perform my surgery. When the post-op reveal finally came, you know all those videos of people getting their casts taken off and they start getting emotional because they're ecstatic about their results? That wasn't me. But for the next year or two, I tried not to focus too much on the look of my nose, thinking that time would make me love it as much as I always dreamed that I would. Telling myself that I was being overly critical of it because it was still so new. But this past year, I stopped gaslighting myself and admitted that I'm just not as happy with my nose as I should be. I've included labeled images of what my nose looked like before, during the healing, the crooked cast and then random pictures of my nose from a month post op until just last week. You'll also see that there are a few pictures that have red lines drawn on. I did that so you can clearly see that the bridge of my nose is uneven and creates this weird shape at the base of my nose where the bridge meets my nostrils. I've done the same with some pictures of the tip of my nose, where you can see it just has an odd shape. He also shaved the bump down a little more than I wanted. But that I can get over. And lastly, I still have an issue with my nostrils because as you can see below, one nostril kind of just goes straight across and the other curves up. And while I understand you can only do so much before damaging nerves or other anatomy in your nose, I feel like more could've been done seeing as they looked exactly the same pre-op. I'm sure many of you will look at the images below and think I'm being overdramatic and that my nose looks great, and I appreciate that. Though that could also be because I know my angles. But the point is that I paid nearly $10k to change my biggest insecurity into a feature that I would love instead. I hated my face because of my nose since I was 11 years old, so it was a dream of mine for over 10 years to get Rhinoplasty one day. So after paying that much money and dealing with years of self-hatred; yes, I expected to be absolutely ecstatic after having my nose done. Not just 'kinda happy' about it. Despite what you may think, I'm not writing this review to trash Dr. Kaplan or his practice. He really is a great guy and his staff is also amazing, and don't get me wrong, I do think he's a great surgeon. But maybe it's that my results were just a one off because I was a weird case or I'm just too particular for my own good. Or on the other hand, maybe Rhinoplasty just isn't his strongest suit. To make things a bit more transparent, if I were to rate my nose from 1 to 10 on a happiness scale (10 being my nose is absolutely perfect), I would say I'm a solid 5.5 maybe a 6. All the while I was hoping to be at least an 8. Don't get me wrong, my nose looks pretty snatched from either profile (which is why I mostly take pictures from my left) but that's the extent of my happiness with it. It's pretty rough when you don't like your nose from the front view. In the end, I'm not nearly as happy with my results as I always dreamed I would be. P.S. I feel bad that I'm giving 3 stars but honestly it's the most accurate rating given my situation. If I was just rating Dr. Kaplan and his staff, I would for sure give 5 stars. But between feeling like my concerns weren't completely heard and my results, I feel like 3 unfortunately sums up my experience. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. This surgeon performed plastic surgery on the person who stole my identity and is now suing me. When trying to contact him or his office, I'm ignored. They have vital evidence that I asked them to give to the detective on the case, providing multiple police report numbers and the direct number for the detective. I still haven't heard anything from him as it seems he would rather attack a victim than work with them, especially when money is involved. I think it's about time to leave a overall review now that I am a year and a half post op. Back in December 2021 I got an extended mommy makeover deluxe that is a tummy tuck, breast lift, bbl. I'm leaving three stars because I love my tummy tuck and my breast lift Dr Kaplan did amazing snatching my waist I get so many compliments on my tummy tuck. I do understand now why a lot of doctors don't do tummy tuck, and bbl's at the same time and I really wish I would've went with my gut and stuck to my original plan, which was only tummy tuck and breast lift. It is a very hard recovery when you have both done at the same time I would never recommend anyone to do it all at once. Two years ago, I came across Dr. Kaplan's Instagram and decided if I ever have something done it would be him. I believe it takes a certain personality to be transparent on social media. Someone who isn't afraid to show his personality and work together. Dr. Kaplan is able to connect and maintain professional boundaries. My consultation was March 2019. I wasn't quite ready to commit to the recovery period. Then January 2021, I realized I was ready and committed to taking care of ME. After having 4 children, my body took a toll. No matter how much I tried , that fat wasn't going anywhere! It was frustrating and depressing. I gave up and didn't bother for the last couple of years. One day I was crying to my husband telling him how hard it is emotionally and physically. From that point on with my husband's support and willingness to take time off work for the recovery , I scheduled my surgery January 29th for a tummy tuck and liposuction 360. It's not only been a physical journey but definitely an emotional one too. Dr. Kaplan and his team are amazing . They walk you through the process and support you and your story. I will say it's very important to have support after the surgery. Dr. Kaplan provides you his personal cell number and will respond right away but that's where it's important to understand the boundaries in a doctor/ patient relationship. He can't be everything. I finally went through with my extended tummy tuck and BBL w/ doctor Kaplan & I am so happy I did. I was originally going to go elsewhere but decided I wanted to stay local in the Bay Area and not have to travel after such a big surgery. Dr.Kaplan did an amazing job 2 years ago when I went to him for a breast lift with breast implants. I am so happy that he snatched my tummy and waist and filled in my hip dips - the results are phenomenal, I'm almost 2 weeks post op and he has such a soft touch that I had a very smooth recovery, I watched a lot of YouTube videos on this procedure and recovery that I was very scared about the post op aspect. Recovery is definitely a journey and you practice patience with your body, and yes I did go through emotions about why did I do this but let me tell you each day that goes by is another day you made it and your body is starting to heal it only gets better :) Very please that my drains are on a lanyard I love that ideas it makes it so much easier for me. Although I cannot wait to take my drains out I'm perfectly okay that he takes them out 2 weeks post op but may do it earlier if your draining less then a certain amount. After surgery I was a little goodie bag of post op papers scar cream and my meds which is amazing I didn't have to go to a pharmacy before or after surgery they had them ready for me and 2 garments! The anesthesiologist was amazing and so sweet he called the night before which was a big relief the next day was very sweet and made my "cocktail" and I was off to sleep waking up with a small waist and I did not wake up sick or anything. If I do any more procedures I will definitely be back to see Dr.Kaplan! Literally helped me accomplish my body goal and is the sweetest caring doctor ever! When I started researching fat grafting to hip dips, I was surprised by how hard it was to find a board-certified plastic surgeon who was willing and able to operate on me. My weight is average (5'5", 125 lbs), but I don't have a lot of subcutaneous fat. Many doctors--including those who have built a reputation for skinny BBLs--refused me. I told myself I needed to give it up and accept that filling in my hip dips wouldn't be a possibility...but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I decided to consult with a few more doctors just so that I could stop obsessing about it. Luckily, Dr. Kaplan was one of these doctors. I had come across Dr. Kaplan's name in my initial search, but I was turned off by the lack of "before and after"'s on his website and his heavy social media presence. Social media can be a cool way to communicate, but I'm wary of professionals who have a highly curated online presence. There's nothing as reassuring as a surgeon who's too technically inept to post fake reviews, right? (I'm only halfway joking...) Yet, once I got past the Instagram-only marketing, it was clear that Dr. Kaplan was highly skilled. His BBLs all have that cute upside-down heart shape, not the "Miami diaper" shape (you know the one). He also gets a nice, smooth contour. I was worried about contour irregularities, so this was a big deal. Finally, I was impressed at his knowledge and professionalism during our consultation. He was realistic enough to tell me that we would only be able to fill in the hip dips; yet he was bold enough to take on my case when so many other surgeons had rejected me. I paid using CareCredit and had my first BBL in late June. Dr. Kaplan was able to get a liter of fat in total from my abdomen, flanks, back, and inner thighs. It was purified and transferred to my hip dips. I healed over the next few months. I was happy with my results, although my hip dips weren't completely filled in after the first round. The amount of fat a surgeon can get during a BBL is not necessarily bounded by the amount of fat a patient has available. There comes a point during the operation at which more blood than fat is being extracted, and it's both useless and dangerous to continue after that point. Dr. Kaplan reached that threshold with me before all my fat was taken out, which is why we didn't fill in my hip dips 100%. Because of this, I decided to get a second-round BBL in early October. My second BBL went great as well. I'm still healing, but I'm thrilled with what I see so far. I don't see any contour irregularities, which is amazing considering that Dr. Kaplan covered such a wide surface area (abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, calves) and had to deal with scar tissue from the first round. Once the swelling goes down, I think this will be exactly what I wanted. After the first round, I lost 1/2" on my waist and gained 1/2" on my hips. The same amount of fat was extracted during the second round, so I'm guessing my measurements will change similarly. The recovery for both of my BBLs has been surprisingly easy. I'm not sure if this is due to Dr. Kaplan's technique or if I'm just lucky, but my pain is a 5/10 without medication and a 2/10 with medication. I was so scared before my first BBL because I had read reviews about how intensely painful the recovery is. It hasn't been bad for me at all, and I have a low pain tolerance. I was going on 3-4 mile walks after the first week and lifting heavy weights after the second week. The only barrier to physical activity was some lingering stiffness in my thighs. (I was deadlifting after two weeks, but it took me two months to squat again.) The one thing that did really hurt was washing the incisions with with antibacterial soap the first day. I almost fainted, seriously. For anyone reading this, make sure to take some pain medication at least 30 minutes before stepping in the shower. Misc other nice things about working with Dr. Kaplan: - Everyone at the office is sweet and makes an effort to get to know you. - Phone calls and emails are returned promptly. - The office fills your prescriptions for you and gives them to you as part of your goodie bag. - Dr. Kaplan doesn't require you to get lymphatic drainage massages (which are SO expensive and time-consuming). - It's surprisingly easy to get appointments. A rare type of blood coagulation mutation runs in my family (prothrombin G20210A), so liposuction wasn't/isn't an option. I first went in for an upper eye lift last feb 2017 the results were amazing the droopy was gone and I looked and felt amazing. Later that year I decided to get the lower bag reduction and a neck lift. I went and consulted and what I love about Dr Kaplan is he does not over sell you on anything no pressure. So I had the mini neck lift lower eye bag reduction. It turned out natural and not over done but I look very rested and youthful smooth eyes again. Fast forward to feb 2018 I felt my body did not match the face. In nov 2017 with the lower eye and neck lift I changed my diet and fitness and lost 28 pounds and my body did not match the face the face so I consulted about lipo 360 he suggested I do the whole 360 and not just my belly. Well I took his advice. I'm 4 months out from lipo and all the work for for my fabo 50 make over my full 1 year make over I could not be happier. 40 lbs later and all the work of a master surgeon. I couldn't be more pleased with Dr. Kaplan! He and his team are kind, responsive, professional and seem to genuinely care about the well being of their patients. Dr. Kaplan knows my background, understands my concerns, and consults/treats accordingly. He also knows my family and friends by name and is a pleasure to be around. The office is clean and welcoming. The team is flexible and it's easy to book appointments. Dr. Kaplan has given me 5+ Botox injection treatments with great results (long lasting, no pain/bruising/swelling/side effects) and removed several of my moles with zero to minimal scarring. I've referred friends to Dr. Kaplan for Botox, lip injections and large facial mole removals. They've all become loyal patients of PHPS and have never looked better. My time with Dr. Kaplan was easily the best experience I could have asked for. After finding out about his practice through snapchat, my interest was piqued. I did my research, and watched his snapchats of procedures for about a year and a half and everything seemed awesome. Highly accredited, very transparent. It all seemed legitimate and trustworthy, so I scheduled my consultation. After meeting Dr. Kaplan and expressing my desires, he only validated my research. I had lost a significant amount of weight and it showed especially by the shape of my breasts; as well, with a few years of different nutritional styles, it occurred to me that I may need a tummy tuck to get rid of this pooch that i had left over. Being in my early 20s, I didnt have the confidence (or the body) I strived for. In my consultation, after examining my breasts, Dr. Kaplan broke down every bit of my procedure and how he thinks it should turn out. Awesome! When it came to my stomach area, i expressed what my concerns were, he listened to everything I had to say, and then gave me his opinion. He said he thought the tummy tuck would be a bit of a stretch in my case and mentioned Lipo360 and how that may be a better and less expensive option. He described the procedure to me, and it sounded like everything I wanted with less stress and invasiveness on my body. I and my boyfriend were taken aback!
