This place is for those who have extra cash around, so that they could purchase a model of a fetus in various stages of development, at prices comparable to a real fetus. The shop is crammed full of antique-y type stuff, like curio cabinets, funky old chairs, old old opera glasses, animal heads, large boots of bygone years - The sales person is very hands off, and this is a store for browsing, not for people to follow you around, asking if you want to buy some strange-looking objects that resemble ancient butt plugs. Not that I can't appreciate this stuff in all its overpriced glory. I do like the funky collection of items here, but I also can't help but feel that Old Grandma Mabel from over a century ago is looking down on us and laughing that the old magnifying glass used for her rectal exam in 1889 now being sold here for 1000 times its original cost.

I really love finding old medical and scientific nick nacks and furniture and this place has it all. From full sized anatomical models, charts, medical cabinets, signage, etc. I almost forgot to go back out into the streets to enjoy the Sub Pop Records Silver Jubilee festivities. This is a pop-up shop and it is located just to the south of Jules Maes in the building that used to house the Vespa repair shop. It will be open for 60 days here only since it is a Pop-Up shop off of her main showroom on 17th Ave. SW. It may stay open longer than the initial 60 days if it does well. Definitely worth a pop in to the pop-up shop that opened on the Sup Pop Silver Jubilee day.

I'm forever a fan of any shoe store that specializes in what they do. And they definitely…read morespecialize in wide shoes here. Walking in, I had no idea what to expect. Honestly as a 40 something year old who wants to remain forever young, I thought the choices here were going to be more senior citizen status. But who am I kidding, my shoe preference is definitely comfort over everything. However, I'll have to admit they had a pretty decent mix of styles. The gentleman helping us (who I assumed is the owner) was very helpful, informative and knowledgeable. We talked about width sizes and how people think width sizes work vs. how they actually work. He suggested to measure my foot because people don't always wear the correct size shoe. In the end, What I genuinely appreciated was no pressure to buy. I was left at my leisure to look and ask for what I wanted. When I caught a boot that fancied my eyes, he didn't have my size in stock but came out with one size smaller and He brought it out and helped me put it on. What shook my inner soul was the fact that he was able to instantly slide the zipper up my thick ankles and calf. No hesitation, no resistance, nothing! I stood up and was amazed at the comfort. Even in a boot one size smaller than I normally wear. I wanted to buy that size but he was very concerned about the toe room and informed me about how much toe room I should actually have. So he said he could order my size and because they were in stock at the distribution warehouse center that was close, I would have the boots in 3-4 days. And as promised he called me and I had the boots in 3 days. I was also given good information on when to buy future shoes for different seasons. So that information was beyond helpful. It was good to hear when the good stock would be available. I had such a good visit and experience, I wanted to write my review quickly after my visit but decided I would wait until I picked up my shoes. I wanted to see if I would have the same experience and I did. In fact, the same gentleman was helping another customer who was a first timer and he was just as friendly with her as he was with me. And he didn't even get the sale but he treated her very genuinely. Boots in hand and took them home and they fit even better than expected. I can't wait to go back for more shoes. Sandals, tennis shoes, ankle boots, dress flats, - they all are calling my name.

Despite the store having 3 other customers, we were helped promptly. We tried on about 4 types of shoes and decided on 2 of them. One was not in stock in the color we wanted so they ordered it from their Edmonds store and will call us when it comes in. The store is small but they have a lot of shoes in back. The shoes on display all have the prices listed on the soles but the actual shoes from the back and the boxes on sale didn't have prices listed on them so they had to tell us the prices. The shoes are very comfortable and high quality but you'll be spending a premium price for them. The ones we got were around $170 and $140 ( that one was on sale). The staff was so nice and helpful

I stopped on a Friday morning to see about getting a new pair of boots stretched to feel better on my bunions (I've never had this done before so I'm not familiar with process or how long it takes). The man who assisted me - the younger of the two working - grabbed the boots and started taking my info. When I innocently asked if I could pick them up the next day I was met with snarkiness and sarcasm. "No, because we aren't open tomorrow and stretching takes a lot longer than that." When I asked for clarification on the process/timing he snidely said "It depends, so no, you won't have them in time for the rodeo. 1) I never mentioned a rodeo, and to assume that's the only occasion/event that warrants a new pair of boots is both ignorant and ridiculous 2) If you're not open on Saturdays it would be wise to update your hours of operation listed on Google - where it states you're open from 9:00 - 5:00 3) If you're at the point you hate your job/profession that much it's time for you to move on because, while people will pay for your services, I - and those like me - won't tolerate your misdirected frustration with life I left and went to Andre's, and my boots will be ready tomorrow. I initially went to Chick's because I was directed there by someone at The Grange, but Andre's has earned a repeat customer.
