I'm forever a fan of any shoe store that specializes in what they do. And they definitely specialize in wide shoes here. Walking in, I had no idea what to expect. Honestly as a 40 something year old who wants to remain forever young, I thought the choices here were going to be more senior citizen status. But who am I kidding, my shoe preference is definitely comfort over everything. However, I'll have to admit they had a pretty decent mix of styles. The gentleman helping us (who I assumed is the owner) was very helpful, informative and knowledgeable. We talked about width sizes and how people think width sizes work vs. how they actually work. He suggested to measure my foot because people don't always wear the correct size shoe. In the end, What I genuinely appreciated was no pressure to buy. I was left at my leisure to look and ask for what I wanted. When I caught a boot that fancied my eyes, he didn't have my size in stock but came out with one size smaller and He brought it out and helped me put it on. What shook my inner soul was the fact that he was able to instantly slide the zipper up my thick ankles and calf. No hesitation, no resistance, nothing! I stood up and was amazed at the comfort. Even in a boot one size smaller than I normally wear. I wanted to buy that size but he was very concerned about the toe room and informed me about how much toe room I should actually have. So he said he could order my size and because they were in stock at the distribution warehouse center that was close, I would have the boots in 3-4 days. And as promised he called me and I had the boots in 3 days. I was also given good information on when to buy future shoes for different seasons. So that information was beyond helpful. It was good to hear when the good stock would be available. I had such a good visit and experience, I wanted to write my review quickly after my visit but decided I would wait until I picked up my shoes. I wanted to see if I would have the same experience and I did. In fact, the same gentleman was helping another customer who was a first timer and he was just as friendly with her as he was with me. And he didn't even get the sale but he treated her very genuinely. Boots in hand and took them home and they fit even better than expected. I can't wait to go back for more shoes. Great store! We went in on a Saturday afternoon because we work during their weekday hours and they are closed Sundays. Despite the store having 3 other customers, we were helped promptly. We tried on about 4 types of shoes and decided on 2 of them. One was not in stock in the color we wanted so they ordered it from their Edmonds store and will call us when it comes in. The store is small but they have a lot of shoes in back. The shoes on display all have the prices listed on the soles but the actual shoes from the back and the boxes on sale didn't have prices listed on them so they had to tell us the prices. The shoes are very comfortable and high quality but you'll be spending a premium price for them. The ones we got were around $170 and $140 ( that one was on sale). I have 2 different conditions that make my legs and feet swell. I went in to this business to find adjustable sandals. One of the employees was very kind and helpful and in the middle of her helping me the other employee (wish I would have gotten her name) came over and started hovering. I tried on many styles and was not having any luck. Hovering employee started talking about me to the other one, ignoring the fact that I was right there, saying "so what's the problem here? They don't fit or she just doesn't like them? I don't see how you can be so picky when you don't have that many options." I already felt so vulnerable being there. Would have loved some more compassion and understanding. This person made me feel like I was just a big burden. I'm mad that I bought a pair of sandals I actually hate because I felt like had to buy something. If you're reading this, hovering employee, try to put yourself in others' shoes. Imagine how vulnerable it must be to put yourself out there trying to find something that you need every fucking day for your feet to feel comfortable. People are suffering from conditions that take away from their quality of life. Show some compassion. read more

I just went to the Wide Shoes Only store in Renton and had an experience that has left me frustrated and speechless. Let me start by saying that I want to love this store. I really, really do. They provide a service that is desperately needed and the owner is clearly extremely knowledgeable about shoes. Unfortunately he's also extremely ableist and completely unable to handle communicating with someone who is neurodivergent and/or knowledgeable about their own body and health needs. I was literally just thrown out of the store. The owner kept interrupting me when I was trying to explain what I needed and why I needed it. He kept saying that there was no point to stability in a shoe for gardening because of the soft and uneven surfaces in gardening. My hypermobile joints know better! Every time I tried to explain an experience that a member of my family, who has similar problems to me, had regarding shoes, he interrupted me and gaslit my experiences and refused to let me finish my explanation. Each time I started trying to finish the explanation he escalated to the point that he was saying if I was so smart I should just start my own wide shoe store and just order things off the internet. If he had ever let me finish what I was saying, he would have found out that I was actually agreeing with him on what he was saying about my family member's experience! But he was so caught up on not hearing me and only hearing what he had already decided I was saying that he and his coworker just threw me out even when I repeatedly asked them to let me finish my sentence. TLDR: Probably a great resource for wide shoes but if you are disabled/neurodivergent or have any needs beyond "wide" buyer beware. read more

I just brought my daughter here to pick some shoes out. See what they had in stock. My daughter is 23 and special needs. She has lymphedema. I've been her mom for 23 years. The owner proceeded to tell me I didn't understand and that she has swelling at night and her foot is smaller in the day. After 23 years, I understand that. I just wanted to see what they had in stock for 13 extra wide. He was so rude that my daughter's anxiety is out of the roof. He pleat saying he has done this for 41 years. I respect that, but it's not my first rodeo with my daughter. He picked up the few boxes he had grabbed, walked away and used the Lord's name in vain after belittling me for minutes. My daughter is now crying and in a panic attack. I am so disgusted. read more

I have huge, wide feet and struggle constantly to find shoes that will fit. I also have long standing trauma in one ankle that includes post traumatic arthritis and tons of scar tissue. I've also developed plantar fasciitis in the other four. I have tons of pain and want so much to find cute, comfortable shoes. So I was excited to find a store to try on shoes and I was prepared to spend the money I needed. But the staff here was deeply u helpful. Even after I asked about a specific type of shoe, I was pointed to athletic shoes. I tried a few pairs on but didn't like any of them, but no one offered to try and find anything else, make any suggestions, or really be helpful at all. They really did the bare minimum of pulling a few shoes and measuring my feet. Guess I'm back to the order return routine to find the shoes I need. read more

Wide Shoes Only is an amazing store. I frequented the one in Bellevue before it moved to Renton, and I must say, this Renton location is much more convenient for me! I just bought two pairs of shoes, one for work and one for play that fit my wide feet perfectly. I'd like to also note that I have custom othotics for my shoes which cost a lot of money. My orthotics did not fit into the business shoe I purchased most recently, so they measured my arch and sold me a $35 insert. After a month of use, I can confirm they are more comfortable on my foot and ankle than my orthotic! It's the personal service and knowledge of the proprietor that keeps me going back and foregoing online retailers. Maybe I haven't been to other places in the state, but after having lived in the horrid selfish, unfriendly bastion that was Arizona...I don't know what to do when people smile at me, hold doors open for me or say thank you. I purchased work clogs from Dansko and some orthotics for my rain boots. I have horribly flat feet and no arches -- when I walk barefoot on a floor, it's like a suction cup because I have ZERO arches. They measured my feet and my 'arch' (the man working there said I had one and I tried not to laugh, but it seems I do have one!)...gave me some orthotics to try with my rain boots and those have much such a HUGE difference. I'll be back to buy the patent leather work Danskos next month! Parking is easy, but for some reason, when I got there, it seemed like everyone else poured into the place minutes later! They have a good selection of quality shoes, boots (in winter), sandals (in summer) that are sized from wide to triple-wide. No medium width shoes, as the name suggests. They have high end brand names (like you see at Nordstrom), leather boots from Italy, and a good selection of athletic shoes. They also have pretty dress shoes -- nice that they recognize women with wide feet also like to wear heels, and just because a person was born with wide feet, it doesn't mean they are obese and cannot wear heels. If you want personal fitting, which includes having both feet measured and analyzed, ask for the proprietor. He is the expert in fitting and gives awesome service. They have some employees who are basically there to find stock in the back and ring up the register, so ask for the proprietor to receive amazing service. Their two-week return policy is posted in a conspicuous place, so be aware of that. You need to try out your new shoes right away indoors if you think you might need to return them. I have returned shoes under these circumstances with a courteous response. This is a small business, so their return policy has to match their capability to resell a shoe that didn't work. This is not the rich national store that lets you trash a product and still return it for cash. If you have wide feet, this is definitely a store that caters to you. read more

I took my very tall 11 year old daughter here after school today. She's 5' 7", and was wearing a women's 10.5 wide shoe. She was complaining of toe pain, so I knew it was time for some bigger shoes. It's been difficult to fit her in the past (sent several pairs of shoes back to Amazon), so I thought, let's go check out that wide shoes store. Domenic greeted us right away. After marveling at my daughters height, he measured her feet and noticed that her foot isn't that wide for its size, but that she has a high instep. This does limit the types of shoes that will fit well. After getting a measurement and finding out what we were looking for (a pair of athletic shoes, and something a little nicer for wearing with dresses at church), he picked out some sneakers for her to try on that were on sale. Much appreciated since I know this kiddo isn't done growing. He also found her a pair of sandals at 40% off. Domenic was great at working with my initially shy girl. He helped her get the shoes on and taught her how to get the straps just right on the sandals. The employees were some of the most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. The sales person seemed annoyed that I wanted to try on both the left and the right shoe. Hello, at over a hundred a pair, yes I want to try on both shoes even if you have to go to the back to get them. It was a prickly transaction but I needed the shoes. My foot was sore and I asked her to take some caution in measuring my size as this is a new situation for me. Let me spare you the details, she didn't. If there is another place near you, don't go here. I actually would have bought more if the service was better. So much for supporting small businesses. Also, I bought a size 1 !/2 smaller than I normally wear...the shoes are too short. I was in such pain that I should have just said no. I challenge the owner to review my fitting.
