We stopped by this restaurant while the Tesla charged at a nearby charging station. Walking in, the restaurant was busy with lots of people sitting and standing watching the World Cup game. They advertise specials during the game which include focaccia with toppings and beer or wine for $20. Although intrigued by these options we wanted a warm pizza and so ordered the crudo di parma. Our server was very polite and friendly and was great at explaining the options. Been there 50 plus times. First, I love the staff. They are always with smiles and so nice. That is good start to walking in. I'm a creature of habit. I love their gluten free garlic crust appetizer. They nail carpaccio and enjoy all of their salads. Their reds are all old world, which I truly appreciate, with good price point. Sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's busy. I'm always so happy to see them busy because it means people recognize authenticity. The environment is very tasteful, not too flashy but modern and comfortable. I read the outstanding reviews for Gioia Italy, saw the extensive gluten-free menu, and was very happy to see the dedicated gluten-free kitchen space within the restaurant to ensure the food isn't cross-contaminated, so we decided to take a car ride to Hallandale Beach during our trip to Fort Lauderdale to give them a try! The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the patio was really beautiful to sit outside for a relaxing lunch. The pizza was good, but the crust was not exactly what I hoped for - it was crispy on the bottom and chewy instead of a soft dough like you'd expect in a Neapolitan pizza. The margherita also had a bit too much cheese and not quite enough sauce (some was absorbed by the crust) for my preference. My friend who is Gluten Free could not stop raving about this place so one day we decided to go. When I told them I wasn't GF but she was they brought out two bread baskets one for me and on GF for her. I have the impression that everything can be made or is GF which is really nice as there isn't a lot of restaurants that cater to it. We ordered a GF (which I was sceptical about) pizza the one with fig jam, bacon, arugula and cheese as the name has slipped my mind. It was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time and probably one of the best ones down here in Florida. What an incredible, delicious meal! I found the restaurant on Find Me Gluten Free and was excited about the plethora of GF options on the menu, especially different pasta varieties. We visited during the early evening and were the only people in the restaurant so got quick service, and our server was attentive. They have a totally separate GF prep area which is amazing! This was my 3rd time going to Gioia. The first was great, second not so great and third........I won't be returning. I go for the pizza and each time I've been there I've requested the Gorgonzola pizza. The first time was about a year ago and the pizza was awesome. I ate the entire crust because it was so good. The second time just wasn't the same. The pizza didn't taste as good. The third time about a month ago was horrible. They failed to put any gorgonzola on thepizza and I verified this by asking the other three people with me if they could smell any gorgonzola and they all said they smelled nothing. When I asked the waiter about the lack of gorgonzola he said he remembered watching the chef use gorgonzola. I asked him to smell the pizza which he refused. I asked him to invite the chef to my table to smell the pizza which he refused. All while this was happening, the manager was standing only feet away and never asked what the problem was. I refused to eat the pizza but I payed for it upon leaving. They failed to even consider my idea of no gorgonzola and the best our waiter could do was bring a plastic container of gorgonzola right out of the refrigerator. I refused this as it didn't have the same taste or smell of being cooked with the pizza. I ate one piece and the crust was good but I didn't go there for crust. The 4 of us were not pleased and will not be returning not because we didn't get what we wanted but because my request for help wasn't even considered. The two stars above are for the attentive service and good crust. I paid $28 for one piece of crust and keep in mind these pizzas are small. The staff is very friendly and the place seems to be a very authentic Italian restaurant. We ordered some appetizers that were very tasty with high quality greens and cheese. The restaurant also has many gluten free options including bread and pizza. It's a great place to go for gluten free food. The gluten free bread was very good. I ordered a risotto dish which had both pork and mushrooms. I had to send it back because it was too salty, but the server assured me that they can fix it by adding more water. I couldn't fully understand him with his Italian accent. However, when he brought it back, it was a lot better, but something I wouldn't order again. So, all in all a high quality authentic Italian restaurant with a huge gluten free menu, but also non gluten free dishes.
