My Dad was a resident of Aventura, and we have been patronizing El Tamarindo for many years. We had his 90th Birthday Party here 3 years ago. He passed away one month ago, at 93 years old, and because it was one of his favorite restaurants, we choose to have his Celebration of Life here this past weekend. Juan and Sonya were delightful to work with in the planning of the day. They were flexible and thoughtful and answered all my questions and honored my requests. Our group of 25 people had the whole back room reserved for us. We were able to honor my Dad with music, sharings, and a photo video that we played on their TV. We truly hit the jackpot with this restaurant! We were just in town for a quick bite and asked ChatGPT for a great pizza spot near our hotel--this place exceeded every expectation. We absolutely love El tamarindo! The place is family own and it has such a cozy warm atmosphere, like you're part of the family. The food is so so good! I always get the mixed green salad with chicken and a double side of spinach. And lemme tell you I leave stuffed! My son gets the fettuccine Alfredo and the pizza, both are great. We've also had tha churrasco steak and not only is it delicious and cooked perfectly it is a huge portion. This is our go to spot almost every weekend. read more

Simply the best pizza I have had in a long time!!! I went with my wife to this place that was recommended by a friend. First they welcome us with a stunning Italian bread with garlic. I ordered the tamarindo salad, the wings, meat lovers pizza, Italian beer and tamarindo juice. Every dish was so fresh and tasty, fire coal cooked. We had coconut flan and limoncello cake with cappuccino for desert. We are so grateful with the chef for a superb dinner. The service was so gracious and we had the opportunity to meet the owner. It's not just about the pizza. Yes, their pizza is excellent, but I came in wanting something healthy and ordered the grilled chicken with beans and broccoli. I am disabled and normally use a wheelchair and therefore have them deliver to my home. Dare I say we ate here TWICE in the short time I was in town. The first time I deviated from my "usual" (chicken francais) and went with chicken marsala. NOOOO. The salad is nothing special, primarily iceberg lettuce, but the house dressing -- what tastes like a blend of Italian and Caesar -- jazzes it up. Indulge in their bread and wonderful green garlic sauce. (I still don't know what it is.) First night in we splurged on pitchers of excellent sangria. Second time, just a glass of house cab. Prices are reasonable, servings ample. If your schedule is flexible try them early-ish on a week night. Weekends tend to be particularly busy and noisy. Locals know how good this place is! read more

December 4/2021: This was an absolute train wreck of a meal. The place was beyond busy. We ordered 3 pizzas for take out. They said it would be 15-20 minutes. It ended up being an hour. We asked for extra Caesar dressing & the gave us the wrong one. The pizzas were terrible. Mine was undercooked by a lot even though I asked for it to be "well done". There was SO MUCH grease in the pizza that it soaked through the pizza box. To top it all off...all three pizzas were COLD!! So, I called in & spoke with a staff member that said they remembered my order. He said "he wasn't surprised" with the fact that the pizzas were cold. I have been a patron of this establishment for years. But I wonder if they have changed owners. The last time I was in the restaurant, I noticed subtle differences, like the bread and dipping sauce changed, and the food tasted a little different. I ordered delivery yesterday. One of my favorites is grilled pork chops. The cut of meat was not a center-cut chop like the ones I get inside. They tasted stale and like they were about to turn sour. The grilled onions were burned black. Then, the bread was moldy with black and blue mold that got on my hands and table. It was a nightmare. Next, the rice was different from the usual tasty rice they served. It was soggy and tasted like it was watered down. I called and complained, and the person said she was sorry.
