This was one of many banh mi sandwich places that Infatuation on IG has listed as one of the best in Seattle through extensive taste testing by staff, so I threw this on my list about a century ago and then came here on a Saturday noon around 1pm. The place is tight and compact, with the interior literally being just their kitchen and a small area for standing and/or using any of two kiosks to place your order. Parking around the area is also relatively tight as it is in West Seattle, as is the seating situation; there's only two two-tops and a bench bordering the left-hand window of this place, and you'll get sun-kissed really hard on the bench during a summer afternoon since it's all outdoor seating. There was a constant stream of patrons placing orders for the whole duration of my stay here, even as I was just waiting for my order to be made. Staff are very attentive to everyone and call your name once your order's ready. Mines took about 10 or so minutes to come since many others were also waiting on theirs. For this visit, I got the following: - Grilled pork banh mi: this banh mi is loaded!!! I had a hard time grasping it between my hands, and the condiments were falling off as I took each bite. The baguette isn't crispy but that was all right with me. There is a near-perfect ratio of homemade mayo and French pate for the volume of the banh mi, and there wasn't too much of any one component. The grilled pork was just all right, though; it had rich flavor and an even texture to go along with the rest of the banh mi but was dry on its own. The secret sauce wasn't my favorite either as its slightly sweet taste didn't fit with the rest of the banh mi in my opinion. - Special lychee iced tea: this really hit the spot for the hot day this writing is based off of! It starts off really sweet but when you let the ice melt then it's very refreshing. The cup is pretty big too! I'm still in search of Seattle's best banh mi even after this visit, but I still enjoyed what I got and would give their other banh mi and perhaps their Vietnamese coffee a try! This place does provide combo options when you get their banh mi, but that was not the case for my particular order. read more

As a lifelong banh mi eater, I don't say this lightly... this might just be the best banh mi in ALL of Seattle. I've heard a lot about this newer Vietnamese sandwich shop but just had the chance to try it this past weekend, but I am impressed. I ordered the typical "dac biet" cold cut banh mi alongside a Vietnamese iced coffee. Now when I tell you about that first bite, it already sealed the deal. The baguette had an easy but still crispy bite that is satisfying and DOESN'T cut your mouth like other breads do. Once I reached the fillings of the banh mi, I was surprised by how packed the inside was. I was able to get everything in one bite, it was like every ingredient was dancing together to create an incredible performance. But what really shocked me was how much pate I got in this sandwich, it was like they knew I was coming - thank you!! The Vietnamese iced coffee also paired very nicely, very standard quality and not too overpowering where it typically hits you. The pricing of the banh mi is more spendy than your legacy-owned Vietnamese deli that you'd find in Little Saigon or South Seattle, but for West Seattle I get it. The guy who greeted me (presumably the owner) was friendly too, everything altogether leads me to coming back again real soon to try their other sandwiches. read more

The staff here are more than kind they are genuinely sweet and they are always willing to answer any questions. The place is sweet and small. On sunny days they have bistro seating outside that are yellow and adorable. The banh mis are truly one of the best around becuase they still use real pate and I love mayo on a banh mi because without it it's too dry. The meat to bread ratio is perfect I never had to adjust anything it's perfectly crafted. read more

This tastes similar to Huynh Hoa in Vietnam! I love it because they give extra pate and butter haha. Each bite is literally so flavor so and the baguette is so crispy and soft. Definitely my new go to if I don't want to drive to Saigon deli in Chinatown The classic banh mi is around $11 and they have other bani mi and also combos as well. It's a pretty small store, but has 2 tables outside for sitting. You can either order at the tablet or at the counter. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

grey, rainy post holiday sunday had me craving something that generated memories of far away. i realized a good bahn mi would really help the spirits but my go to place wasn't open so i turned to yelp to find a place with good reviews. turns out gion is spitting distance from where i work during the week, so this made me even more curious as it could become a place i could stop by for take out on my way home. i didn't order ahead but you can. i opted to walk in and they were busy making two separate orders for people who had paid and were waiting. there were also two other orders sitting waiting for pick up so this seemed like a good sign. i ordered and paid and less than 10 minutes later i was walking out with a hefty sized sandwich that i didn't think id be able to finish. i was wrong. the bread is crispy and fresh and the sandwich is full of veggies and usual bahn mi toppings. it was quite good and i appreciated the heat level of the jalapeños playing off the cooling effect of the carrots pickled daikon. the sandwich disappeared so you be the judge. i think i found a place i'll return to, for another sandwich and also one of their various flavored milk teas. definitely a neighborhood business that's probably best accessed on foot but i think there may be a poor pick up loading zone right out front. definitely choose take out as there are no tables and a very small counter if you're thinking of eating there but in my mind this would be a perfect place to hit up on a lovely weekend day before going down to alki and scarfing their flavorful creations down! read more

If you're in West Seattle, this is a must for banh mi! Bread is crunchy and the sandwich is packed with filling. I got the classic and everything was fresh. I noticed that their classic has pork floss which isn't traditional but it added more favor to the sandwich. This place is more of a to-go spot with a few small tables outside. The good thing is there are so many parks close by that you can get to and enjoy your sandwiches. Service was good and the workers are friendly. This is the BEST bahn mi in Seatlle! The breD is so crunchy, light and airy. The bahn mi is also filled with marinated meat and veggies. I love the combo deal they have where you can either get vietnamese coffee or thai tea. There are only 2 tables outside for seating. BEST bahn mi sandwiches ever!! We had lunch at this cute little shop today. It is a tiny shop but their bahn mi was so good! I tried the traditional and my girls got the grilled pork and the tofu. Their portions are very generous and their bread is super crunchy and good. They have a few cute yellow tables and chairs to sit on outside of their place. My husband and I came to the W Seattle garage sale on Sat and came here for lunch. There are several yellow tables and chairs in front of the shop. When you enter the store, there is an IPad on the table on the right hand side where you can place your order. I've seen some stores using this system recently, but I don't really like it. I thought it would be better to just order it online. We ordered grilled pork sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich under my name. I waited outside for a while, but my name wasn't called, so I went inside the store and found my name on the order rack. If restaurant staff take orders by name, they should call out customer's name when the food is ready. How many customers know that? We took the sandwiches home and ate them. I was looking forward to trying this place but it fell short for me unfortunately. There was close to zero pate in my sandwich. The pickled carrot and daikon have no pickling flavor at all, it was very bland. It taste like just regular vegetables. This was the most disappointing part because the vinegar flavor is essential for balancing out heavy sandwiches like this. I like how they pack the sandwich, it is nicely put together but I feel that it lacked flavor. I like the bread as well, crispy but not stabbing the roof of your mouth. We ordered the tofu sandwich and honestly, it's one of the best banh mi I had in a really long time. There are some little critiques here and there but overall it was really good. For one, the sandwich is a hefty size. They stuffed the bread with so much stuff!!! I like the fillings they use, it was refreshing and good quality. I also like that they added some fried shallots or onion to give that extra texture. It was also a messy eat as the sauce was dripping literally every bite you take. The flavor is spot on too and the bread was toasted perfectly. Oh and the jalapeno gives a nice kick Some minor critiques: the marinated tofu wasn't evenly distributed so some tofu didn't get the marination and it was bland. Oh my gosh. I came back after a couple years. First time I wasn't impressed because the meat was sparse and not very good. Today's was a complete 360. It was flavorful and full of grilled pork. Definitely more pricey ($9) than your standard banh mi, but the amount of filling makes up for it. Called in my order and it was ready within 15 minutes. The bread is exactly as it should be, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We tried both the grilled pork and the grilled chicken and for us hands-down the grilled pork was the winner in terms of flavor (explosion)! The vegetables were very fresh. You do have the option to add extra veggies for a small fee which we really wish we had done so we highly recommend that. Food: I grow up and reside in Vietnam myself for the majority of my life, and let me tell you that if you want a 100% AUTHENTIC taste of Vietnamese sandwich, this is the place for you. As someone who travels a lot for work and reviews many popular eateries, there is very few stores that manage to capture the true essence of our cuisine- the meat is seasoned perfectly with a nice texture, and the baguette is very spot-on. Everything tastes very fresh, especially the veggies in the sandwich. Not only is the sandwich amazing, but it is also very heathy and balance overall for all those gymners out there. The Thai tea is also very tasty, and the boba is cooked at the perfect texture. Service: The staff is very friendly, and assemble the sandwich relatively quickly. The owners are specifically very sweet, and will say Hi to you. The overall experience is very pleasant, and deserves to receive another high score for me. Ambiance: The store's ambiance is very warm and welcoming. This is more like a to-go place, but since everything about it have been excellent that I really hope the business can expand, so the taste of Vietnamese cuisine can be more wide spread and appreciated!
