They are a busy little shop with people consistently coming and in out It takes like 10 mins to get food. We have been looking for a good inexpensive place to grab a bahn mi. The one we had been going to closed some years back, and when this place opened up right down the road from us we knew we had to give it a try. The menu is simple and to the point. As it should be. The bread is crunchy yet fluffy, the pickled veg and cilantro are pouring out the sides, and the protein is perfectly prepared. They recently added a fried chicken Sando option and it's now the default go to for us. If you decide to get something other than fried chicken, make sure to get a bit more paté added. It's the secret. The staff is nice, but focused on their quick order turn around, so there's no real interaction. Just order, eat, go. Easy. Or grab a Vietnamese Coffee and a Sando. Great bahn mi and drinks near SW Henderson and 35th. Small counter where you can place your order on a POS machine or order ahead for pickup. There is a small area with stools for seating but pretty small, so we got our sandwiches and went to the beach to eat them. My son had been here before so he ordered for us. We got the pork bahn mi. Plenty of meat on a nice soft but chewy roll. Not hard like other bahn mis in the area. Mayo and a great brown sauce that is basically liquid caramelized onion lol. Plenty of cilantro, julienne carrots and fresh jalapeño which tones down the sweet flavor of the pork. We didn't get cucumbers because my son said they make the sandwich soggy, too many seeds and makes the sandwich too thick and unmanageable. I can't speak to that. I just did what he told me to do based on his experience. It's definitely a hefty sandwich though with plenty of meat, and I couldn't finish it. Service: Can't really say too much either way, because it's really a hands off place where you place your order on the machine and just wait for your goods. For me the pork was a tad sweet and the only reason I gave 4 stars. But if I go again I will try a different meat. The Banh Mis here are flavor-packed, generously sized, and very affordable. They don't skimp on the meat or the pickled vegetables! While the pork had a few tougher pieces, the chicken Banh Mi was absolutely the standout. The ordering process is seamless via a self-service kiosk, and there are stools along the perimeter if you prefer to dine in. All I can say is it was super bomb hefty meaty portions and the marinade with the lemon grass was on point. Super badass sub sandwich. I would highly recommend. Had their sandwiches for the first time and enjoyed them so much that we went back 2 days later to try their vermicelli bowls. I watched as they made bowls (for someone else) piling meat into them. Perhaps our bowls were rushed, we only got a few pieces of pork and some were too fatty to eat. My fish sauce container was only one third filled (not enough). Most people would know that the best banh mi is found in either Little Saigon or South Seattle, but Banh Mi Xo is truly worth the drive to West Seattle for some high quality delicious banh mi! My roommate and I got the chance to try Banh Mi Xo last week, both of us ordering their special XO Deluxe Sandwich. It's a little more on the expensive side for banh mi in Seattle, but it's worth every dollar. This banh mi is HEFTY compared to others out there, each bite leaving me more and more filled. A good amount of meat and fresh vegetables all included in. The only thing I would say is that they mixed up our banh mi as my roommate ordered one with extra pate and I ordered the regular. It wasn't until after a few bites I had to say "oh man, this is delicious but this banh mi is loaded with pate". No worries though, small mistake. I also ordered their fresh lemonade, it's Vietnamese style which was super refreshing! There isn't too many places that serve Vietnamese style fresh lemonade, so I am glad they offer it. This location has limited seating and street parking only. It's very much a deli style kind of place, would recommend ordering a banh mi and eating it at any of the nearby West Seattle parks. read more

Incredible sandwiches. I ordered 3 sandwiches and have been waiting 57 minutes so far and thought I'd leave a review while I wait. The staff is incredible and super apologetic, but the issue is they don't have enough kitchen equipment to keep up with demand, think ovens, prep area, etc. highly encourage the owner to give these folks more tools to work with. I'm back in PNW and went to my favorite Bahn Mi place. Bahn Mi Xo on 35th Ave SW is still on my top place for Bahn Mi. I actually ordered their Grilled Shrimp Salad Bowl this time and let me tell you how tasty this was. The picture says it all. The noodles were thin, not thick and not clumping together like most I've come across, the shrimps were big and not those little ones you usually see, all the vegetables were also cut bigger to which you can actually see it and taste it, the peanuts weren't all small and crushed, the flavors was just spot on! That vinegar sauce it came with was not too sweet and not too sour, just a great balance for these types of salads. Of course I did order a BBQ Pork Bahn Mi to go and as always, it's been consistent from site to flavor. I haven't had anything mediocre in this place! To wash it all down was their strawberry smoothie, although I wouldn't call it a smoothie, more of an ice strawberry drink and that was refreshing. We pass by this spot each time on our way to our dog sitter and always wondered how good it was. We decided to stop by for lunch and ordered one combo, one pork Banh mi, and a viet iced coffee. Even though it was lunch, our food came out in less than 10 minutes. The combo banh mi was so delicious. The bread was nice and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The deli meats inside were flavorful too, and love that you can add pate to any sandwich. The viet iced coffee color was on point and it was strooong (how I like it). It could wake up someone from a coma - but still had a nice coffee, chocolately flavor. We will definitely be back for more when we are on this side of West Seattle again! read more

I've had banh mi from many places, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I've never tried this shop before and honestly won't be coming back. The pork in my grilled pork banh mi was so burnt it looked like pieces of charcoal. I've attached a picture, no one should be served food like this. On top of that, the staff were unfriendly and didn't acknowledge me at all. No greeting, no smile, no eye contact, nothing. Just cold, dismissive service. However for my first and ONLY visit here, I decided to go for the grilled pork. The meat was tough and dry. The bread is soft, glutinous and chewy. Consider going to OH's Sandwich in Admiral. We were sad to lose previous great businesses that have been in this location, but this new shop has really impressed my family of Westside Vietnamese food aficionados. The sandwiches are really fresh and tasty. Like extra so. And the pho is the same. And the fresh rolls. So far there has not been one item we've gotten that we thought was underwhelming. Haven't sampled the whole menu yet, but with this trajectory, it's looking like they're all winners. Just depends on your mood. We have tried Banh Mi it feels like everywhere. West Coast, East Coast, The Islands but not Vietnam, although we hope someday. :) This new spot in West Seattle stands up to many we have had. The bread is soft in the center with a nice crunch on the outside. The pork is very tender and juicy. The veggies are very fresh and sliced perfect to create a nice crisp fresh flavor. To place an order, you use the tablet on the counter. You are able to specify if you want extra meat or other ingredients or to omit any ingredients i.e. jalapeños for me. They only accept credit or debit cards. It's a small place but there is an L-shaped counter seating I'm guessing maybe for 8-10 people. I ordered a grilled pork bahn mi sandwich. I was happy to see they have preprinted brown bags with what type of sandwich it is. So many places if you order multiple sandwiches, you don't know what type of meat is inside until you open all the sandwich wrappers. I thought the price of 9.25 was a little overpriced until I took the sandwich out of the wrapper. It was loaded with grilled pork! The pork covered the whole bread. It was so tasty! They were giving out free samples of their jello. I chose the pandan jello. It was tasty too. I wish the texture was a little softer though. read more

I know they're new. But with 3 people behind the counter working on orders and only 3 small orders ahead of us, I did not expect to wait 25 minutes. And then when we finally got our food, the egg rolls were cold and there weren't any jalapenos in the sandwiches. Huh. We wanted jalapenos! Flavor-wise, the food wasn't bad. My vermicelli bowl had a generous amount of pork, but the pork marinade was sweeter than I prefer. If you've ever had Chinese jerky, that's what it reminded me of. If you don't like your vermicelli too sweet, use the fish sauce sparingly because it's also very sweet. The space is pretty small, so there isn't much room to wait inside while people are dining in at the little counter row. We waited outside in the cold, where the benches were wet because they're uncovered. Overall, I thought it was ok. If I lived within walking distance, I might order 20 minutes in advance and pick up. The restaurant ran out of pork egg rolls so gave me two extra veggie egg rolls and while the pork egg rolls were solid, the vegetable ones were underwhelming. As a way to hopefully redeem the experience, I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, expecting it to take a minute knowing that it is a slow and deliberate process. Nope. The service was great and the small eating space was warm and cozy. Sadly, none of us liked our Banh Mi mostly because of the overly sweet sauce on them, and none of us really liked the meat as much as other places we have been either. Typically when I see shops like this open up there's definitely some operational kinks they have to work out. You know what? I can't tell. Ordered Milk Tea with boba and a Grilled Pork Banh Mi. Wow! Have to say, if they weren't primarily banh mi sandwiches, I think they could corner that market. Seriously. Happy Lemon in Westwood? Their franchise quality is definitely not there. Same with Sharetea. The boba here was made perfectly and the tea is not from powder. Owner said if they have time they may expand on flavors. Grilled Pork Banh Mi I've noticed from other places are sometimes dry. Banh Mi XO? Perfectly seasoned and juicy. You might be thinking, what the heo? I usually pay $5 for a banh mi. Jeez big guy, these folks needa make rent. It's a good price here versus paying $20 for a sandwich at The Birdhouse because you forgot you ordered it with avocados. I would definitely go back.
