For lunch today, I ordered the Chicago Classic - Tavern Style Pizza for delivery. I will say from the start I was skeptical but decided to give it a chance due to a timely email before lunch today. As expected, I was a little disappointed but at least I tried it. I've many a tavern style pizza including cracker crust and Giordano's version was somewhere in between. I felt like they overcompensated for it by making it a well done pizza. I'm not sure they have the right ovens for this but moving forward I'll stick to their thin special or even their Stuffed which is more their wheelhouse. read more

I went to Giordano's yesterday and ordered their lunch special, which included a small pizza, a salad, and a soup. It was pretty good. Giordano's is always solid, so I had no complaints. I tried the minestrone soup. It was OK--nothing extraordinary, but it was edible. I really like Giordano's pizza. I think they use the most cheese on their pies, and they're the best, so I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up about another Skokie restaurant that's really good. The service was impeccable as usual. The guy was very professional and courteous. Since it's not a sit-down place, the ambiance is just watching the pizzas being made through the big glass. I am writing to share a deeply unsatisfactory experience at your store. I placed a phone order for pickup at this location, where I have been a loyal customer for approximately four years and where my phone number is on file in your system. Upon arrival, I was informed by an employee named Jessica and a male coworker that they could not locate my order. Rather than making a genuine effort to investigate, they insisted I was at the wrong store and appeared ready to let me leave without resolving the issue. Confident that I was at the correct location, I called the store directly to confirm I had dialed the right number and even showed staff my call log as proof. Only after I asked the male employee to search further was my order eventually located. It turned out the order had not been properly linked to my phone number when it was placed, despite my having provided it an internal error that was in no way my fault, yet I was made to feel as though I had made a mistake. Throughout this frustrating process, I remained calm, did not raise my voice, and did not use inappropriate language toward either employee. At one point, while the male employee was checking on my order, I said to Jessica, "I know I'm not crazy. I know I placed the order here" simply voicing my frustration at being made to doubt myself. Jessica responded in a dismissive and rude tone, telling me to "relax," despite the fact that I had not raised my voice or been disrespectful. When I attempted to clarify that my comment was not directed at her personally, she became hostile. At that point, I canceled my order and left. As I was walking out, Jessica made a comment "Some people" in a tone I found highly inappropriate. I am unsure whether this remark was directed at my race or at the fact that I was in a police uniform at the time, but regardless of intent, it was unprofessional and unacceptable. I have been a consistent, loyal customer at this location for several years, and I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and disrespectful treatment I received. This was however in a different location and it was 3 years ago. So i decided to give it another try. This time for delivery. I ordered the Deep Dish All Meat abd Extra Thin Chicken Pesto. It was tasty full of flavor. And the crunchiness of the Extra Thin Chicken Pesto. I was actually picking the sides around the pizza. I also had the Parmesan Fries oh so yummy. Well let me just tell you, if you haven't tried the giordanos gyro Chicago style stuffed pizza, you just haven't lived. Have you ever had one of those nights when you just don't feel like cooking bug you want something savory- preferably pizza bug with a little pizzazz? Well look no further. This pizza is your one stop shop for deliciousness!! My husband ordered this pizza online- the whole process was very quick, easy and convenient. The day he ordered, they had a 20% off incentive to try the pizza which was a huge bonus because the pizza was already so delicious to begin with. He was quoted that it would take about 40-45 mins to get ready. He stopped by to pick it up and it was ready to go. One thing I would suggestion for the future of the company is that Giordano should send out a text for online orders when the pizza is ready for pickup so that people don't hang around. This new era is all about convenience and efficiency. Gyros pizza is incomplete with tzatziki sauce and some of the places I've ordered gyro pizza from has been stingy on the sauce. Well, not this place! Giordanos provides us with two small containers of the tzatziki sauce and two small containers of chopped onions and cucumbers #giordanosforthewin. The pizza itself is full of flavor. We ordered a large and we (4 of us) barely ate half of because it was so hearty. So be prepared to have leftovers for the next day. The pizza is stuffed with cheese (no brainer there) and contained plenty of gyro meat. The pizza stuffing itself was probably almost an inch thick so it's a very filling pizza. It is flavorful- I personally loved that they spread some garlic butter on the crust which was my personal favorite and the cherry on top of the cake. I highly recommend this to everyone. This location is carry out only. I'm not sure why they chose a spot right down the street from Lou Malnati's, but I'm happy they're so close to our house. We used their online ordering, which was very user-friendly. Our order was ready in the promised time, and the stuffed pizza was as good as their other locations. (Delicious!) Hubby is a fan of toasted ravioli, which can be hard to find in Chicago, so he tried that, plus the Italian market deli sandwich with a side salad. He enjoyed it all...and said we'll be back. The only problem we had was that we are moving and have already packed our kitchen, so we requested paper plates and plastic silverware, which they offer. Neither was in the bag when we got home. I have a love and hate relationship with Giordanos. I like their pizza a lot but their wait times are always inaccurate and that has prompted me to write a review and also look at other options that offer dip dish pizza in the community such as Pequods for example. We order from here monthly but for the past three years in a row we have ordered from here for the superbowl and without fail it has been a disaster. Each time I have ordered 3+ hours in advance and i still have needed to wait 50 plus minutes in their mini area. Its pretty standard, they usually tell me it will be 10 mins wait, i say sure, i wait waaaay longer than that, they dont care to apologize, and I walk out of there having missed part of the game only to go home with cold food. This SB, I ordered 2 personal pizza, 1 large cheese thin crust, mozzarella triangles, cheesey bread and french fries. Everything but the personal pizzas was so cold. The cheese of the triangles wouldnt even stretch and it was solid. The cheesey bread was solid as well and not even warm. They had obviously cooked everything a head of time and later put the personal pizzas in the oven to bake. I probably would have been better off if I had ordered ready pizza from the grocery store. My family and I picked giordanos and we got one deep dish, one thin crust and the cheesy garlic bread. We did different toppings for half of the pizzas and they got the order correct! I take back what I said earlier about this location.... I had ordered a pizza from here the day of the Superbowl where they were running a promotion of getting the NEXT pizza for 30% off if we showed a receipt..by the end of March 31st. Nowhere in the Rules and Conditions said it had to be a PAPER receipt.. I had ordered it online so I had the email confirmation/coupon on my PHONE... although I had saved the receipt...as a safeguard..having little ones..in the house..that receipt went MIA... luckily I still had the receipt I had received via email from them... with all the same information as the paper receipt.. Including the order no.. etc... Well when I called to find out if they accepted the phone version, they blatantly said NO I had to have the original receipt... meanwhile I contacted the one in Rosemont and another one in the Irving Park location and BOTH said that the phone receipt would be fine and all I had to do was show them my phone.... In this day of age where everything is now in one's smartphones.. I find it a huge inconvenience and more than likely they are setting up deterrence to prevent you from honoring the coupon....if this is the type of customer service they are offering, then they just lost a customer and I will place all my future orders on a more customer friendly franchise owner. read more

A very good Italian beef!! A very flavorful sandwich, that surprised me. In my opinion a certain competitor has so far been unsurpassed when it comes to Italian beef. However Giordanos is not very far behind. A good sized sandwich. Plenty of beef , will have two dinners out of mine. The meat was cooked to the proper level. Retained it beefy flavor and juicy texture. The meat was tender, and flavorful all alone. Combine it with the au jus and some sweet gardenaire and you get a very nice flavor palate with a bit of a black pepper after taste. The bread was a soft Italian no crispy crust. Held the juices well, and held up all the way through. I hate it when the wet bread falls apart while you're trying to eat. I can see enjoying this sandwich outside on the porch with a (large) glass of a robust Lambrusco!! But I wont "WINE" about it. That is all! read more

We always get the family spaghetti with marinara sauce followed by the chopped salad and the occasional large thin crust and it is always good. It is a place more suited for takeout and delivery then eat in so we usually order delivery. So beware the place will not accommodate large parties, but I have eaten there solo when I was very hungry. Good place will return. read more

I try to avoid meat and dairy most of the time and I really enjoy that they have a couple good salads that's i can choose from, to meet those preferences. Pizza flavor was good. We could tell the sauce, cheese and other ingredients were fresh and high quality. However the pizza fell down in two categories. We ordered a deep dish and thin crust to compare. The deep dish was supposed to be sausage and cheese. Where was the sausage? In a huge pie of cheese there way maybe a little spec of sausage every third or fourth bite. It was really dissapointing. They totally shorted us an ingredient. The thin crust was also very soggy. One Tuesday afternoon we were surprised with a warm and delicious treat. Giordano's on Lincoln Ave. was purchased. Thanks to their friendly staff. We enjoyed a veggie pizza (spinach, olive, broccoli, and onion). As a side dish we had fried calamari. Having fed five people easily. It left a smile on our faces. This was the 2nd and last Chicago pizza place I went to on a recent trip to the city. Some guys I was with had tried Giordano's before and were very excited to get it again so I was very excited for it as well. The wait time was normal as usual, 45 minutes, for a large deep dish with pepperoni, sausage and extra cheese (which came out to almost $40). When I got the pizza the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was, good lord it was a thick pie. 15 minutes after we got the hotel and the cheese came off the pie just like in the photos for the most part! In terms of the flavour however it was definitely more overall better then Pequod's but the dough had almost the opposite problem of Pequod's in which it felt undercooked. The toppings weren't as good as Pequod's and arguably neither was the quality of the cheese but as a full pizza it was definitely better even though I personally won't buy it again. If you want a stereotypical Chicago deep dish then Giordano's is essentially that and you basically get what's on the gifs of every super cheesy go-za on the Internet so its worth a visit if you're going for that reason. read more
