Almost $6 for a slice that you'd get at an elementary school cafeteria 35 years and wouldn't have been excited about back then either. When they reheat it took about 5 minutes just to cool off and eat. Hard pass on price (should be $3 tops), taste, and the toppings felt like they weren't fresh. No effort at all. read more

Beware... This place has a sanitation issue. I ordered a torta sandwich with everything and chorizo. I noticed that he took ground beef out instead. His counterpart said "not ground, she wants chorizo." So, the cook proceeds to take the cooked ground beef and put it back in the fridge without even taking off the cooked part. I feel sorry for whomever gets that piece. This is how salmonella starts. Also, he did not wear gloves while handling raw products nor wash his hands. They might have great food, but I am not trying to get food poisoning. So, i will have to pass until they understand the basics of sanitation. read more

My husband and children love their pizza. I personally am not the biggest fan of pizza in general, but I'll admit their crust is amazing! Their homemade sausage is delicious. The pizza by the slice is our go-to, but I've also had the chili cheese fries and empanadas. There is plenty of seating inside, and they are always playing great music. After many visits seeing it belatedly when we got to ordering, we finally gave their quesabirria a try. $12.50 gets you three tacos plus a generous (large?) bowl of birria soup (not just consomme - but with beef + veggies). I usually have nothing bad to say about Gigios but today i am absolutely disgusted with how they messed up and did not honor the fact that they messed up. I never thought I'd be rating Gigios pizza so low. My family usually orders for delivery over 25 years now. The person who took my order first, didn't know what a supreme pizza is. How do you work at a pizzeria and not know what toppings are on a supreme pizza?! Second, she called to confirm my address because the driver (God bless his patience) noticed that she had written the street name as "ground ave." He knew "ground" was not a street name. I made her repeat my order and address and she still managed to give him the wrong address number. My pizza was also not cut in squares like she herself even repeated in my order! Upscale? Not at all. Worth ordering? Absolutely. Solid thin crust cheese (or pineapple) pizza from Gigio's never does me wrong. Great both fresh and reheated. An XL pizza gave me leftovers for a week! Mozzarella sticks are questionable, as they toggle between breaded (yay) and battered (nay), but as long as I ask what they have before ordering, I know I won't be wasting my money. My husband wanted us to dine here after our Little Yelpers event in Evanston as he was feeling nostalgic. Gigios was one of the first venues for his birthday parties when he was a little kid. They are celebrating their 50th year this year! The restaurant that is, not my husband. I'm sure he would like me to clear that up if he ever read this review. 4 years ago Gigios was under new management but kept the same name. I think thats pretty cool since this establishment has been a part of the Evanston community for several years. I just had a slice of their pepperoni pizza, but they have other things on their menu as well. Their pizza was basic, but good. The crust was crisp and doughy and the sauce wasn't overwhelming nor too oily. Overall, not bad. They have a big enough restaurant where you can dine comfortably. The price is pretty good too if you are looking for some good fast food in the downtown Evanston area. A good restaurant for reliable fast food. Yeah Man, this is what's up in this fly walkable neighborHOOD of mine from the far far far past and present. This place is beyond a tradition I have and still do enjoy. I mean, like straight-UP "WILDKIT" I would set up my DJ gear: turntables, budget mixer, after I got paid for a few gigs that meant and translates to the simple equation (2) TWO Technique 1200 Turntables. Then I would walk over to Gigio's Pizzeria for a quite great slice of Pizza or (2) two, soda can and then go back and as a (7th) seventh grader at Chicago's middle school; 'Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Experimental Laboratory School' and I would DJ for and at the entire High Schools YMCA "FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE' cities dance. I had a slice of the daily special which was bacon and onion - good crust and fairly tasty toppings. My pal really enjoyed his meat lovers special. I also had an order of 2 chicken tenders but they gave me 4 and they were very hot, tasty and meaty. Way too much food but around 10$ for the lot. I've been coming to Gigio's since the early 80's for slices. I recently moved back to Evanston and have been delighted to share this tradition with my young sons. Gigio's is now a permanent part of our weekend routine. The Boys are crazy about the Pepperoni pizza and Tater Tots; I'm still partial to Sausage pizza. I'll always be a loyal customer here. A great low key spot here in Evanston. The pizza is your classic Chicago thin crust sold in large portions. A single slice was plenty of food and was quite large. The sausage is advertised as made in-house and certainly tasted so! In typical Midwest fashion, I noticed that both gyro and tamale were listed on the menu. I decided to also try a pork tamale and enjoyed it. It was large and the masa was crumbly and thick. Would recommend going as it's also extremely affordable! read more

Apparently they have different prices for call pick up orders, online orders and and to eat there. They over charged me by 10$ on a small pizza and a medium pizza when I asked them why it was more they told me because I did a phone call order. Went into to grab 2 slices of Pizza there were 4 people eating . There were 3 people working around the corner an older Hispanic man and a younger teenage young man and a shorter Hispanic delivery guy. Love the pizza but am constantly surprised by the other things on the menu. The Quesobierra tacos are ridiculously good.

I usually order their sausage pizza because it's so good. Yesterday a woman ahead of me in line ordered a taco from this place. I didn't even know they had tacos! Good Lawd I ordered a beef taco and I had to count my fingers after eating it. It was THAT good! I'll be back today and order more. Then. Then. They have oxtails and mashed potatoes. I grew up in Chicago neighborhood that had a lot of pizza slice places so I was thrilled to find Gigio's after moving to Evanston. Slices are big and a good value-- they're usually about eight to ten inches broad at the back and about ten inches from tip to crust. They recently upgraded the menu, adding beer, hot dogs, burgers, and more. I've had the Impossible Burger there several times and love it. It's been one of my favorite spots in Evanston. I'm not even really a regular but the guys are always friendly and seem happy to see me (whether they actually remember me or are just good at customer service). read more

This is used to be one of my favorite Pizza places! Nice fluffy Cust! Good ingredients but the last few time it's like the place doesn't give a crap! Ordered a pizza today, sausage extra cheese! The crust was uncooked and like cardboard, there hardly any sausage but worse of it tasted like eating a block of salt totally inedible!
