On an unwavering mission, we rounded the corner east bound on Route 66 late in the afternoon. Our destination in sight, the Old Magnolia Garage. In I go, straight to the big fried pie display case. I really wasn't expecting to find anything left at this time of the day, but there they were, two blackberry pies. Somehow, they survived the morning feeding frenzy. They were immediately adopted, along with a strawberry. Tomorrow's breakfast delight. Nope, not as good as if I had been there when they came from the fryer, but good just the same with a fresh cup of coffee the next morning. Get there early!

Of course the whole wide world needs more innovative classic food stops like this on Route 66. Also, ask to see their fire-surviving copy of Eternal Route 66 by Chuck Williams, an ironic souvenir from a prior iteration of The *eternal* Rock Cafe. If you're a fan of Sally the blue Porsche from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, ask to meet the owner, Dawn. She *might* tell you her story that inspired the sweetheart sports car, and John Lasseter, Pixar's chief creative officer is happy to confirm when visiting with memorabilia gifts that decorate the cafe. The neatest part of this place is the 66-foot-tall pop bottle structured with giant wire frame right outside in front of the lot. At sunset, you can sit and watch the multicolor LED lights illuminate with pretty colors. What a colorful and fun view! Parking is free. We didn't get a chance to dine at the restaurant as it was near closing time. We didn't get gas since the car gas tank was full. We did, however, perused the store. WOW... we were overwhelmed with so many classic, unique, and creative soda flavors! Such a cool sight to see soda bottles on display alongside the glass windows of the building. Staff was okay. We picked up one apple pie flavor soda pop plus a good handful of magnets. I was so tempted to buy a t-shirt, but no design stood out for me to take one home. Highly recommend Pops!
