I was looking for a new coffee spot. I want to try some of these new places in Tempe- I'm seeing come up on Yelp! Even tho I'm a consistent helper, I always use Yelp to navigate a new city or to find the local places of the neighborhood I'm in. Lucky for me, it led me to Gio's organic coffee! I know the 414 Mill shops as I've been to the boutique shops in here many times. They're all new shops so it's worth stopping in. I love the waterfall courtyards inside. Check my photos! Gio had amazing coffee, shipped from Peru. The beans come from her family farm in Peru and they get shipped over the ocean and travel all the way to Tempe. It's quite amazing. They have lovely flaky pastries too. Quaint Seating inside and out. Very peaceful spot inside the shops. The coffee is amazing with a smooth rich flavor. I got an organic drip choice but I'll be back for the lavendar latte. Def stop in, it's such a treat to drink coffee from Peru, you must try it! read more

A small, cute coffee spot tucked away and slightly hidden near Mill Ave -- the kind of place you might miss if you're not looking for it. Service is genuinely great: friendly, patient, and welcoming. Coffee is good, and the pastries are fresh and nicely presented, making it a solid stop for a casual coffee break or breakfast. You can tell they care about quality and customer experience. That said, the interior could feel a bit cozier. The white walls combined with the exposed steel appliances give the space a more industrial feel, which doesn't quite match the warm, intimate vibe the café seems to be aiming for. A change in wall color or softer finishes would make a big difference. When I visited, they were experiencing issues with the coffee machine. The staff handled it very kindly and professionally, but it did affect waiting time and efficiency -- especially considering there were only a couple of customers at the time. read more

Great new local coffee spot in Tempe. The owner Giovanna gets her beans directly from her family's farm in Villa Rica, Peru. Espresso was top notch and my girlfriend loved the iced vanilla latte. It's on the ground level of the courtyard shops, which you enter off Mill. Definitely worth checking out and supporting local! read more

Cute, hidden coffee shop located on Mill Avenue. Walking through the courtyard adds a fun experience. The courtyard has plenty of seating and is peaceful, perfect place to sip a latte. The shop is small, but has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a 16oz latte with lavendar and oatmilk, the coffee was good but the lavendar flavoring was extremely faint, next time I would skip the flavoring. I got a danish, and it was flaky and had a balanced sweetness. I also got one of their candles, they are made from coffee grounds. The candle is extremely cute, but doesn't have a strong scent. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend checking out this shop. read more

Just found this place, almost by accident, in the courtyard just off of Mill Avenue. We had the hot caramel and hot hazelnut lattes and enjoyed them thoroughly. Add the chocolate chip muffin and it was perfect. The coffee is so smooth it really enhances the overall experience. We'll be back - thank you! read more

Gio's took over a spot that had been a vegan restaurant for some time and love what they have done with the location. The interior is simple and extremely clean but what really shines is the covered patio that looks out on the beautiful courtyard with colorful plants, benches, and even a waterfall (so great ambiance). I love to come here in the morning, get a coffee drink and just Zen out for a bit before I start my work day. As someone who works from home, I love that I can easily ride my bicycle to this location, off of 5th St and Mill and it is a bit like a little park area -walled off from the activity on main St. Mill and the owners, who also work there, are super nice! I'm happy to say I'm seeing more and more foot traffic, so it is one of those places that people in the area are discovering, and I also see visitors taking pictures of the courtyard, as it is lovely. Besides the great ambiance, and top-notch coffee, that they roast themselves (I generally drink an American or Iced coffee, both black, so I know the quality of the beans is great), a unique food offering is Empanadas (currently beef and one with ham and cheese) and that is made by friend of the owners so very authentic. I don't eat in the morning but one day I will try one! Suffice to say, if you want something that is both authentic and local, and good value for your money, and a spot you can sit for a bit and collect yourself in a lovely environment, this is a great place to go, and they are open into the early evening. I'm sure, when it is getting dark the patio lights are lovely. :-) read more

The dirty chai latte was good, the outdoor seating was super cute, however; the empanadas fell short on my list of recommended places. I'm South American so - la carne picada le faltaba sal y la aceituna junto con el huevo duro hubiese sido mejor si fuese cortado más chiquitito para balancear el gusto junto con la picada. Checked out this coffee shop after going to a yoga class at the studio in the same complex. It's in a very cute location, off of the main road in a little plaza, and perfect for an after yoga treat. We were greeted right when we walked in and the person working at the counter (I think it was the owner) was very nice. He gave us a heads up that he was running a little behind but he would get our drinks out as soon as possible. That being said, I feel like we didn't have to wait too long. It was just him working but eventually another person joined and it started going much quicker. I got the chai tea since I don't like coffee and it was really good. I like that this place is organic. I also wanted to get some alfajores cookies but they were already sold out around 10am. I'll have to come back earlier next time! The person who took our order said his wife makes the filling fresh every morning. There were just a few small tables to sit at inside and outside. read more

Went here during the Second Sunday's on Mill Ave event. Service was exceptionally fast and friendly. I went to the little courtyard to enjoy my coffee and pastry. This little place wow'd me! The coffee here is uncommonly good. Rich, strong and complex. I highly recommend it. I'm definitely going back and next time I'm going to try a pastry!
