The people working were very kind and pleasant, and one of their kids was there and was very sweet and polite. As for the ambiance, it feels very cozy. First time ordering pizza from Giovanni's. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza for pickup. The pizza dough was delicious, soft and doughy. However, it was so salty, and I love salt, it was overwhelming. Thinking it was the pepperoni which was also very spicy. The employees were very nice, polite and quick. There is a seating area which is super cute. We will probably give them another try but maybe a plain pizza to see if it's not so salty. Such a cute pizza shop with seating available. I have a dairy and egg allergen and read that they had vegan options available. I was greeted when I walked in & explained that I wanted to insure the crust, cheese, and sauce was vegan because that would avoid the allergies I had but the toppings could be normal. I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, It was delicious! When it was brought to the table the person made sure I was handed the correct pizza and let me know precautions were taken. Thank you for being soo caring and nice to prepare my order correctly, I would highly recommend. Not to mention sometimes the flavors aren't the best but I honestly couldn't tell the difference with the allergen friendly ingredients. Confession time - it's a minor miracle if I don't dig into my take-out gluten free spinach feta pizza before hitting the first traffic light. The aroma alone is incredible. Other varieties I've tried have been good as well. Best of all I can eat their gluten free pizza without worries because Giovanni's is careful about cross-contamination. My brother-in-law grabbed a slice of my pizza without knowing it was gluten free and loved it. Downfall - opposite end of town for me. I guess I will have to start visiting my "southern friends" more often. read more

Tried most everything all good but the BEST, the one we keep coming back for is the spinach, feta pizza. The crust is delicious, well baked without being burnt. Not smothered in sauce but it's the toppings that make the pizza, everything is so fresh and delicious. Not only the namesake topping but there's also a great mix of tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. Try it, it's well with it. By the way, the place where I work uses Giovanni's for it's catered lunches. Good selection, something for everyone. read more

It's awesome that so many places now offer vegan pizza and other items. However, it doesn't mean you just slap on vegan cheese and call it good. I ordered a basic pizza with beyond sausage - it really had too much vegan cheese - almost sickening. And the sausage was dry and chewy. Honestly, it was better the next day. The place itself is OK - somewhat sweaty hole in the wall, with easy enough parking. I think though if you're going to offer vegan pizza, then you need to at least try to adjust it a bit to get it right, rather than just outright swapping ingredients. I have been traveling by this location for more than a year. I decided that I needed to finally stop and try their food. I had the fish sandwich, and a Sam Adam's Octoberfest beer. The food was delicious. The barmate explained that all of the food is good here. She said the Chille is to die for. I had Chille for lunch, else I would have tried it. The place inside is very nice. I really wanted to like Giovanni's. But their pizza and ability to fulfill orders correctly are both terrible. To date I'd only eaten Giovanni's when I was literally starving (our group was supposed to eat dinner at 6 and we ate at 10) so that's not really an accurate gauge of taste. But I remember it being a bit soggy, if generally good. So I took a chance and ordered again tonight. I was dismayed from the moment I opened the door and the delivery guy handed me the wrong soda. The pizza itself was a bigger disappointment. First off, they forgot to add my favorite topping, so it was incomplete. Then then the center was SOGGY. It was bad. The first slice tasted sweet but not in a good way. The sauce was almost like a sweet V8 and I couldn't figure out what I was tasting that was so unappealing. But it was too tomato-ey and didn't taste Italian at all. The second slice got weirder. It tasted like buffalo wing sauce, and I soon realized that one half of the pizza had gotten some cross contamination (it was on one of the toppings) and I was literally eating Frank's Red Hot on my pizza. I like wings but I don't want a sweet pizza to taste like wings. Blech. The third slice was the worst! It was highly greasy and so soggy that it broke in half - literally the center just disintegrated into the cardboard box. Gross. I was left scraping up pizza slop. This was actually an inedible pizza, and I don't say that lightly. I had to throw it out. And I was taught never to waste anything. I'm never ordering from this place again. Also, I should note that I went to the yoga place next door to Giovanni's last night for a class and when I walked in the place smelled like weed for a moment. I conferred with a friend in the class and she said she noticed that as well. I stopped by here last Sunday in order to pickup a pizza for my best friend and I to eat while watching football games. I called out to Giovannis at around 11:50 and ordered an XL pepperoni pizza. The guy on the other end of the phone confirmed I was picking it up in Dormont and then told me that it would be ready in around 20 minutes. I arrived just over a half an hour later and my pizza was ready. I didn't get to see too much of the inside but I noticed a dining room on the right whenever I entered and then the usual kitchen, soda cooler and pick up area on the left. This pizza like all pizzas can be broken down into its three major components: cheese, crust and sauce. My favorite part of this pizza was the sauce which had a little sweetness to it. It's not nearly as sweet as the Giovannis on 6th street and that's ok as I think this sauce has it perfect. There was a good amount of cheese on the pizza and it was decent enough although nothing special. Last but not least was the crust which was a bit on the thicker side which I wasn't a huge fan of. Since I also had pepperoni on this pizza I should probably talk about that as well. The pepperoni it was sliced from was rather small and the edges of each one had curled up during cooking. It tasted alright although I wish it had tasted better. The bottom line for me is that I may stop by here again in the future. While it wasn't the best pizza that I have ever had, it certainly is satisfactory and I did enjoy the sauce. read more

I am gluten free, I just discovered this place after living in Mt. Lebo for 6 months. They have a great gluten free menu, unlike other restuarants who say they are "gluten free" they actually have things besides, salads, steaks and veggies. They offer pizza and pasta! I did not give this a 5 for the fact that the restuarant itself could use a make-over. To me it is considered a hole-in the-wall type place which most people fo not prefer. I brought co-workers here on 2 seperate occasions and they enjoyed it, but again some people may not want to try it out due to the fact that it looks like nothing from the outside. It's funny because i liked pizza prior to being gluten free, but I didn't LOVE it like people do. Well, when I was told I basically couldn't have it at most places of course I NEEDED IT ASAP! So now I've been on the quest to find the best gluten free pizza. This place definitely delivers (and to your house too, natch). While you can tell the crust is GF, I think it's pretty close to a Neapolitan style pizza crust. While I've had GF pizza that has a crispy crust, the center gets pretty mushy, and this was not the case. But just as important are the toppings. i totally went for it with a buffalo chicken pizza and it was super tasty. I hate when they put like one piece of flimsy chicken or toppings, and they had big hunks of chicken with a tangy buffalo sauce. The most surprising thing was that GF pizza never usually reheats well for leftovers. To my surprise, it tasted great still!
