Girasol is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley, hands down. Top notch food, generous portions, beautiful presentation, always clean, and service that makes you feel right at home. They get really busy for brunch on weekends, so definitely utilize the Yelp waitlist. Also make sure to opt in for their rewards program, you earn points every time you dine and the money back adds up fast (if you come often like me lol) My order almost always includes the chilaquiles, imo the best in SGV. They've got so many sauce options that I ask the waiters their favorite every time I go, and the top answers are usually creamy paloma and creamy chipotle. I'm also a sucker for the ribeye plate. Generous portions, steak is juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the refried beans might be the best I've had. It comes with chilaquiles (pick your sauce), potatoes, and rice, honestly great to share or split into two meals. And their omelets deserve a shoutout too. They are stuffed and so comforting. Can't express it enough. I find myself here at least once a month. They also offer a buffet Tuesday and Sunday night so I'll have to try that and report back!

We came to Girasol to celebrate my mom's birthday, and it was absolutely the right choice! We ordered five different dishes, and every single one was delicious. There was such a great variety on the menu that everyone found something they loved, no matter what they were craving. The ambiance was fantastic too--they had the Brazil vs. Norway game on for my dad, which made the experience even better for our whole family. The service was immaculate from beginning to end. A special thank you to Edgar for making everything so seamless. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful celebration, and even led the staff in singing Happy Birthday to my mom, making her feel incredibly special. We can't wait to come back! ¡Definitivamente volveremos!

Met my friend for brunch about 11am and there was a long line, but we're seated quickly as we checked in early on yelp. We sat in a booth and all seats were taken and it was lively for brunch. We had the most kind waitress who recommended various items and brought us each a small noodle soup. The food was 10/10!! I loved the chilaquiles and tried various sauces for the chilaquiles on the side. Also had an iced cafe de olla which was amazing! Really recommend for a Mexican brunch on the weekend.

Located in the plaza w/ Baja Ranch Market. Try to arrive early or parking can get scarce and there's usually a small crowd milling outside around the host's stand waiting to be seated. They do send a text notification once it's your turn to be seated. I haven't ever made reservations for this restaurant. The longest we've had to wait was half an hour. We do laps around the shopping plaza to whet our appetites. The restaurant itself is actually spacious inside since you can either be seated in Girasol or their taco place next door. Service is prompt, efficient & friendly. Our servers did a fantastic job both times we've eaten here: Watsup Ceaser & Antonio!!! Antonio actually told us that the reason they stay so organized and the food is cooked consistently well is that there's 3 or 4 (?) separate kitchens: each one dedicated to cooking a different element on your dish i/e one cooks only the meats; one does pancakes only etc. Prices are on the higher end but considering the quality of the food you get, amount that you receive and the depth of flavor they achieve, Girasol is a thousand times worth it. Our shared ribeye entree was approx $32 Bf & i have shared entrees both visits and we've left happily full. For both visits they've provided a cup of complimentary sopa de fideo and their black coffee is hot and refilled often. We didn't get an app this time around, but our medium rare ribeye arrived quickly accompanied by chilaquiles in creamy spicy sauce, potatoes, beans and freshly made corn tortillas. every element of the dish was delicious and was slightly feisty, they definitely don't shy away from spicing things up especially in their trio of salsas they had us try. But my absolute favorite was the chilaquiles & ribeye. the chips were freshly made & stayed crispy despite being drenched in a spicy, creamy yummy sauce that makes me dream about them being used in nachos. The ribeye was a generous size and cooked perfectly medium rare. we carved them up and DIY'd tacos w/ their freshly made tortillas. They have a dinner buffet on Saturday nights that we are curious about. Only caveat is that their chilaquiles are not included. Anyways, we'd come back. no diggity, no doubt ....are you for real still reading this review?!? go eat silly

Came back again to Girasol after years and wow they have improved so much! My dad was asking to go here for a while now because of the breakfast buffet they have but unfortunately we went on Sunday and that is not the day they have that available. Butttttt, man it did not matter because I ordered the chilaquiles and he got a steak breakfast and it was the best breakfast plate ever. Portions were big, flavor was just like grandma made it and the food was so fresh! I loved every bite of it . I'm writing this review now at 9am and I'm thinking if I should go again! So happy to have came back after years! Our waiter was the best also! Tall gentleman he was very attentive not sure if he was a manager . But he was great ! The wait is a little long If you just pop up I suggest joining the waitlist on Yelp

Ding, ding, ding! We have a new champ in town, and that champion is GIRASOL! Just ate here for the first time and I was absolutely blown away! Food: 10/10. I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados with green sauce and creamy chipotle with a side of Arrachera (skirt steak) and it was OUTSTANDING. The sauces they put in those chilaquiles are so addictive. The creamy chipotle sauce was velvety rich, smoky and bright. The tortillas had the right amount of thickness, but not too thick and stayed crispy throughout the meal. The green sauce had a little more kick and was bold with a perfect balance of tangyness and some earthy heat. PLUS, they give you a hearty portion! Arrachera steak was cooked to perfection. I like mine medium and it came out with the perfect amount of pink center with spot on seasoning. It was juicy, peppery, and rustic. Great complement to the chiliquiles. The over easy eggs were some of the best I've had as well. They were so fluffy, and when I cut into the yolk, a heavenly yellow river ran down like a beautiful waterfall. I was dipping and saucin' livin la vida FLAVURRR! Everything complemented everything so well. I couldn't stop eating it!!! Service: 10/10. Girasol has some of the hardest working people I have ever seen. They were super busy, and everyone was working together like a fine oiled machine. From the girl at the front who was seating people and wiping down tables to all the servers and kitchen staff, everyone was pleasant, smiled at you and made you feel like you were in their home. Cesar did a great job, offered wonderful recommendations and took great care of me. Again, they were SUPER BUSY, yet my food came out in less than 10 min. I was amazed! Also, shout out to their waiting line system on Yelp, they respected the time and it was actually quite accurate. Ambiance: 10/10. The spot is warm, welcoming and cozy. I love the artwork on the walls and the Girasol is a wonderful representation of their spirit and soul. Very clean establishment and again, everyone is working together to keep it looking spotless. I can't say enough great things about this establishment. They just won me over and I now know why they are a local favorite.

I saw this place on IG and it looked incredible! It's only a few miles from me, so I decided to take my wife to check it out. The place was PACKED for a rainy Sunday morning. Our wait was a full a 60 minutes. Once we got seated, the customer service was very nice. The waitress did disappear once we got our food and didn't see her until she brought us the check. The food was GREAT. Portions are large but I wish the food came out hotter. They charge $7-$8 extra for ANY meat. So one plate could easily be $30+ which seems excessive for chilaquiles. I'm glad I checked it out, but the prices kind of turned me off.

My husband and I stopped by here to redeem and buy one, get one Trio Chilaquiles from our SGV passport. We arrived around 1:15pm on a Saturday. They were pretty busy, but they were able to seat us within a few minutes. Our server, Maribel, came to our table right away and took our drink order. She was so nice and took her time to explain our chilaquiles options. My husband and I ordered the Trio De Chilaquiles. I ordered mine without the sour cream and cheese, and ordered the arrachera (skirt steak) for my protein. My husband ordered his dish as is and got the chicken for his protein. We also got the red and green salsa, and the mole poblano sauces. When we received our plates, our eyes widened. There was so much food! Everything tasted really good. It was hard for me to keep my fork down. I liked the three sauces with the corn chips. If you want that extra heat, go with the mole poblano. We weren't able to finish our food and took the rest home. Aside from the food, the service was great. The staff members were nice and attentive. The interior is nicely decorated from top to bottom. I would dine here again. Thank you, Girasol Cocina Mexicana, for the great experience!

We came to Girasol's Cocina to redeem the deal from the SGV Passport. The redemption was for a BOGO free on the Trio de Chilaquiles which is $23.99. That's a great redemption from the passport. The location is neighboring Baja Cali. The parking lot is plentiful and easy. The location was very busy during an early Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was packed with customers and had a vibrant energy. Our waitress was very nice and she made us feel very welcomed. We ordered two of the Trio de Chilaquiles. You get to choose 3 different sauces and you can add a protein for an extra charge. We chose the Red, Green, and the Mole Verde sauces. I added chicken and my wife added beef. Once these plates were set down. Our jaws dropped. The plate is gigantic! The amount of food can be shared for two. I enjoyed the their take on the Chilaquiles. All the sauce options we chose were good. If i had to choose I'd say the Mole Verde is top sauce to try. We ended up packing the rest to go. I understand why Girasol has so many reviews and why so many customers return here. We would love to come back again for this plate of food. It's delicious! Thanks, Girasol Cocina! ( ^_^)b

I kind of consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur and Girasol in Monrovia impressed me!! We followed the waiter's recommendations the ribeye with red chilaquiles, chorizo potatoes, and my wife's menudo were outstanding!! Jaime, the owner, came around to say hi, which was a highlight. For dessert, the waiter recommended the elote pancakes, and we enjoyed them with a cup of café de olla. It was the perfect finish. We'll definitely be back! Thank you staff and Jaimie!!

This is a seriously solid bowl of menudo. The red chili broth has a beautiful depth of flavor without being overwhelmingly greasy.

This was my second time visiting, and it definitely won't be my last. The service is always amazing, and the food is consistently delicious. The warm lighting and music create such a relaxing ambiance the moment you walk in.

How much is Saturday dinner buffet?

I just called and the evening sat buffet is $35 per person.

How much is the buffet and what day?

I was there yesterday, Tuesday, 10/28 and the Tuesday buffet is now $22.00. Buffet is still only on Tuesdays.

Do they have migas? I can't find ANYONE who serves this simple Mexican breakfast.

    Homestate in Highland Park

Are your refried beans vegetarian ?or are they fired in lard? Thank you

I called them and they said the beans have lard.

I looked at your pictures. I read your menu. You don't seem to offer any rice. Only potatoes. Is this true?

I know for breakfast they offer potatoes which are very good and with beans

Are reservations required for Sunday brunch?

We usually go Sundays morning and very early at 9:00 a.m, and without any reservations, but I don't think you have to make one.

Anyways my food got to the table and omg they hook it up with shrimp on top and purple onion and avocado! Everything looked so clean, well-organized, and inviting. The restaurant itself is lovely, with plenty of seating for a party of one or many. There is ample space for special occasions, a large bar area, a large dining room, clean bathrooms, and AMAZING staff. Every single employee welcomed us to the restaurant. Employees were very friendly, polite, hard-working, and engaging. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the "Martha Salad" while my wife had the Pozole Verde. Both were delicious, perfectly made, very tasty, and filling. The chips and salsa were so good that we ordered a second serving, which is rare for us. We plan to invite family and friends in the very near future so that we can reserve the private group area and have our own party :)

The margaritas were honestly some of the worst we've had -- they tasted like straight margarita mix blended with ice, and we could barely drink them. The enchiladas were also very underwhelming, especially for the price. It was basically shredded chicken in tortillas with sauce, rice, and beans, and for $20 it just wasn't worth it. The food tasted very Americanized and lacked authentic Mexican flavor and seasoning. That being said, the customer service was amazing. The two ladies who helped us were incredibly attentive, kind, and kept checking on us. They offered extra drinks and multiple items, which we normally appreciate because when we go to Mexican restaurants we usually order multiple rounds and end with Cadillac margaritas. Unfortunately, the drinks were so bad we didn't want to order anything else, but their effort and service did not go unnoticed. One small disappointment was when I asked for hot sauce to add more flavor to my green sauce enchiladas, and I was brought the same red enchilada sauce instead, which made the meal worse. I am a food and beverage manager myself, and I can honestly say I would hire those two servers in a heartbeat because they were fabulous. The service was excellent -- it's just the food and drinks that really need improvement.
