Love coming to La Adelita! The food here is delicious. The servers and the cook are always so friendly and welcoming. My favorite dish to order is the three item combo with a chile relleno, cheese enchilada, and two taquitos (one chicken, one beef). We also like the parrillada fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp. The chile relleno here is so good. The egg batter is light, fluffy, and crispy. The dish comes out piping out so the cheese oozes out when you cut into the pepper. The taquitos are homemade, crunchy, and big! Both the beef and chicken are good, but I like the beef more. The rice and beans here are so good. The rice is fluffy and well-seasoned; it tastes almost like it has been cooked in chicken broth. I don't usually eat much rice and beans at restaurants, but I can't help clearing my plate here. If you're a fan of spice, ask for the habanero salsa. After picking my wife from work, we headed to Acradia first and then drove thru Huntington Drive to turn Myrtle Ave and park a public parking spot on E Colorado. Across the street, there's a restaurant called La Adelita Mexican restaurant. I remember this restaurant we passed and went to another restaurant just a block away. We cross the street to the restaurant it's a small restaurant like a hole in the wall, but many surprises. First, we look at their menu displaying outside they have good lunch specials, and then the waitress saw us and then greet us in the restaurant and anywhere we like then she hand us the menu. The menu has three sections breakfast,lunch and dinner,we were looking at the lunch specials, and then we decided to order my wife to order the chicken Fajitas come with rice and beans then I order the two item combinations plate the first item is the chili renello and my second item is the hard chicken taco then the waitress brought us chips and salsa. The chips and salsa they were good, and the tortilla were freshly made out of the fryer, and salsa is also freshly made. The waitess brought us our meal it looks fabulous and made fresh and made to order. The rice is amazing. It's a good pac with flavor in each bite and also fluffy. The beans were very good and also full of flavor that I really enjoyed. The chili renello is one of my favorites. This chili renello is so good that the egg coating is amazing, fluffy, and light. The chile wasn't spicy, but good and cheese were good and cheesy. The hard chicken taco was good. I really like it. My wife enjoys her chicken Fajitas amazing flavors. She enjoys the plate. Overall, we enjoy the food at La Adelita Mexican restaurant. Everything is made fresh and made to order. The one thing we like is the open kitchen. Just a small family run business off the busy street. I really respect an establishment that relies on repeat and referrals. This restaurant is absolutely that place. Service is quick and no fuss. Food is hot and ready in minutes. They have great specials. I order the wet burrito and my colleagues typically order enchiladas and tostadas. Try the secret spicy hot sauce. 3.5 Stars Stopped in for breakfast, as our initial restaurant choice down the street had over an hour wait. We were seated immediately at La Adelita, outside on the sidewalk, and the service was friendly and quick. We thought the food was okay. I enjoyed my Huevos Rancheros ($11.99), but my wife wasn't too keen on the Chilaquiles con Huevos ($11.99) in red sauce. One of her pet peeves is orange cheese (cheddar) used in Mexican restaurants and this one did use it. I thought that the salsa that came with the complimentary chips had a nice flavor. They also had a red "hot" sauce, for those that like to kick things up a notch. Inside dining area, kitchen, and restroom were clean. Parking is either on the street or in a city lot across the street. I'd give them another try, perhaps for lunch or dinner next time. read more

La Adelita is a wonderful little find. It offers a surprisingly wide menu packed with tempting choices. On my first trip, I had the delicious Chipotle Chicken which I've only encountered there. It's worth a special trip. On my second time, I was hungry for a good old-fashioned hard Taco. I ordered two, along with a chicken enchilada. You will be hard pressed to find a better combo. Went on a day with godmom a few years ago. Havent gone back. The chips and salsa were mediocre. Just - okay. The tea was mediocre as well. The food is made fresh, but overpriced and nothing really to write home about. The waitress was snobby and when we questioned the bill, she said she gave us a favor by I believe giving us refills.... to justify an extra charge. Just not inviting. I don't like to be so harsh but it really is some sorry Mexican food here. I'm a HUGE mexican food fanatic and I travel all over Southern California hoping to discover Mexican food greatness. Unfortunately, I didn't find it at La Adelita. Not even close. This place was unbelievably disappointing to me. Bland, flavorless, common, generic, Mexican food here like no real thought went into the recipes. And the chips and food I had, kind of tastes like it was all lard-based which I am not a fan of. Decent Food, Odd Service Experience On Mother's Day, most restaurants in the area were understandably packed, so we considered ourselves lucky to find La Adelita, a little Mexican spot that wasn't overly busy since Mother's Day is celebrated on a different date in Mexico. What a stroke of luck, or so we thought initially. Upon arriving, our party was basically ignored for a solid 25 minutes by our waitress while she was seating and serving other patrons who came in after us. It was an incredibly odd experience to just be left waiting outside for that long without any acknowledgment. When we were finally seated and able to order, I went with the Chilaquiles, which ended up being quite delicious. The food itself was a high point. However, the strange service continued as we were wrapping up our meal. Our server, perhaps realizing the poor first impression, suddenly switched gears and became overly pleasant, likely in an attempt to secure a decent tip. It came across as insincere and left us with an overall weird feeling about the place. All things considered, the food was tasty enough, but the wildly inconsistent service really put a damper on the experience. If you're just popping in for a quick, no-frills breakfast, La Adelita could fit the bill. But don't expect stellar service or a particularly warm ambiance. It was an adequate experience for getting fed before hitting the road, but not necessarily a place I'd be rushing back to or raving about to friends. read more

Saw a recent review speaking badly of one of the waitresses, so had to write a review; which I normally don't do reviews. I am a regular customer here and the staff is amazing. They are very friendly and accommodate special request on orders. Usually they only have one waitress for service and even when they are packed I get the same great service. This restaurant has been around for at least 15 years, so that says something. I would highly recommend this spot. read more

Just had this place catered at my office last week and it was amazing! My bosses are very frugal, so the fact that they catered this place for our entire office tells me that the catering package must be a great deal! Each employee's lunch meal was a smothered chicken enchilada, beef tamale, rice, beans, chips and red salsa, and a barbacoa taco. It was an enormous amount of food per person and it all arrived fresh and right on time! My only complaint was the chicken because it was a bit on the dry side. However, the red sauce on top of the enchilada more than made up for the blah chicken. My fav part was probably the taco. I think I ate it in 1.5 bites lol. The meat in it was really good. For those sensitive to spicy stuff, nothing in my meal was remotely spicy at all, yet it didn't lack flavor, so the best combo! read more

I've been passing La Adelita for years and have never been, so decided to go for breakfast. Please note that this is a BREAKFAST related post, so their food might be better for lunch/dinner. I had a breakfast burrito, and I think my two major comments are 1) it's wayyyyyyy smaller than the regular burritos they serve (which i saw on someone else's table since they ordered off the lunch menu) and 2) there wasn't much flavor in them. I definitely had to add a lot of hot sauce. Overall I would say this place is teetering on the edge of being ok... but I wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast, but might try for lunch/dinner to see the difference. La Adelita is a quaint little Mexican restaurant just off the main drag in Old Town Monrovia. The seating area is small, with maybe just a half-dozen tables, and a short-order grill pretty much at the inside edge of the dining area. But what this place lacks in square footage, it more than makes up for with charm, affordable prices, and good food. If you've visited the Friday night street fair/Farmer's market, then you've no doubt seen the 20 foot high whacky waving arm inflatable tube guy east of Myrtle on Chestnut, beckoning you towards the flashing multi-colored LED lights illuminating the signs peddling TACOS. On those same Friday nights, La Adelita sets up a street cart in front of the store, and offers a menu para llevar (that's To-Go, Mildred). On our most recent visit, my family enjoyed the chicken fajitas, quesadillas, chicken and steak tacos, and I had the tostada compuesta with chicken. We enjoyed complementary chips and salsa while we waited for our plates, and sucked-down a few rounds of free refills on the fountain drinks. Have a Modelo or two if you'd like, also. The service feels like the usual family operation, and while they were not gushing and bubbly (if you're into that sort of thing), they were attentive and nice to the little ones. We will definitely come back here, so I can order that chile verde burrito that I saw on another table. There are several free parking lots in Monrovia, but during peak times, they are pretty full. Best bet is to park about a block away in the neighborhoods to the East and West of Myrtle, and get a few steps in before you double down on micheladas. Enjoy. read more

First time to this cozy little Mexican eatery in Monrovia, CA. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Ordered the Chicken Fajitas and was very impressed. The flavors were perfect! Served sizzling on an iron griddle with mounds of chicken, onions, peppers & mushrooms. Side plate with plenty of rice, beans, guacamole & pico. I shared with my teenage daughter and still had leftovers. Was so good, I forgot to snap a picture before we ruined the picture perfect moment :). Next time I suppose. Will definitely be coming back. I stan la Adelita. Our office has La Adelita in our rotation for staff events and have enjoyed customer service from previous dine in pre quarantine as well as take out. I've enjoyed the Arroz Pollo y Camarones, this is covered in cheese. My other surprise favorite is the cocido soup, clear broth with large hearty chunks of beef, potato, carrot and zucchini.
