Please remove this from Yelp. Thrift Store is closed. Someone answered the phone and said the thrift store had been closed for years!

Physical bookstores are few and far between but this one is a nice gem in Frederick. It's big, nice…read moreselection of books and they have done a good job of shifting to other retail things. Toys, games, stationary, music, etc it feels up to date. The Starbucks inside is big with plenty of seating and drinks are solid. Service is good. The staff here are overall helpful and friendly which is really refreshing. As a Lego nerd I was really surprised with their selection which was impressive for a bookstore. Decent deals on their legos and their books. It's nice to support local and smaller businesses that are getting harder and harder to find. This place is a cozy retail space that has 3rd space vibes for you to hang out for a bit while you shop and get a coffee. Would recommend and will be back.

Walking into a Barnes & Noble is like walking into a time capsule. I say this since when you walk…read morein it has not changed since the late 90s, early 2000s. Almost everything is identical as to when they really were growing. That can be said about this location. It felt like it was built a long while ago and they haven't done anything to update it as of yet. Obviously the sections have changed a bit in terms of size and what is offered overall. I found it surprising that they still had a vibrant DVD section (although I am sure they switched over to Blu-ray). The café in the store was going strong while I walked through. I will have to say that my purpose from coming in here was to take a trip down memory lane, and that was about it. I didn't need a book, or magazine, I just wanted to dip my toe into a bit of nostalgia.

I have been going to McKay Used Books for many years now. As a teacher, I really like seeking out…read morechildren books and teacher books. My husband likes to browse music books, and all sorts of books. It is simply a great place to go and wander and find those books that speak to you. The prices are great too. Now don't just wander, be sure to buy those good books!

I have been shopping at this store for years now, unfortunately todays trip will be my last. Mckays…read morehas always had inaccurate pricing, but today they were so bad that I almost thought I was dreaming. Tell me why I saw Star Wars the Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels for $18... Currently this game goes for $3.67 on pricecharting, heck when it game out in 2008 its peak was only a measly $5. Multiple gbc/gba shovelware games all overmarket, by around 10 dollars as well. In general the amount of 3-5 dollar games that they are trying to pass off as 15 - 20 dollar games is dis gracefully disgusting. The point of traveling to these stores are to get the good deals. All of the inventory they have are traded in for or donated so it makes NO sense! It seems that the employees make guesses when it comes to prices, that or they are being told to overprice by upper management. By the gaming section there was a sign that claimed that all of the consoles and equipment is tested beforehand by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" whatever that means. I got an Xbox One Kinect from them back in December, and worked normally. A couple days later I wanted to try using its mic functionality, was not functioning. So it was never fully tested by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" lol. The worst part is that they give you a 3 day warranty... it's not like people have kids, jobs, or other commitments I guess. The media (dvds and blu rays) were also overpriced per usual. Usually only by 5-10 bucks. My main discrepancy today was that I saw multiple dvds and blu rays with dirt and filth smattered on the covers. Your telling me that they have the audacity to up charge, and still refuse to even spend 10 seconds wiping the cover with a lysol wipe? Is it that hard to do? Disgusting! I can't speak on their book pricing as I am not well versed but pretty much everything else is overpriced in this store. It really sucks because these type of stores are supposed to be for lower income families who can't buy new. And instead is being treated like a greedy gaming convention booth. I genuinely feel bad for kids nowadays who want to start growing a small gaming collection post pandemic. With greedy "thrift" stores like this, even the shovel ware games are off-limits.
