Dr Girod was great. She consulted on my case, and though I had surgery with another surgeon, she was instrumental in my decision.

(can you imagine what she'd have said if i told her i got my medical advice from a youtube video!! *sigh*) unfortunately the state of healthcare in the u.s. is absolutely atrocious and i'm stuck with pamf for the foreseeable future.

Since it's so hard to find my veins, I have to depend on the infusion clinic to help me out. The nurses here are so nice. They take really good care of you. It took four attempts this time. I was happy they were able to get the IV in so that my husband could drive over to the MRI imaging building next door.

I am writing to request urgent assistance and escalation regarding the care of my 9-year-old son at…read moreStanford Children's Hospital. This is our second visit to the Stanford Children's ER in the past two weeks. My son's neurological and behavioral symptoms continue to worsen, yet he has not received a full evaluation or treatment for suspected PANS/PANDAS potentially triggered by silent strep. We were referred to neurology, but no evaluation or treatment plan has been initiated. We were also told that the Immune Behavioral Health Clinic (IBH) operates under a separate administration and does not coordinate with the ER. I completed the IBH intake last week, and we were informed there is a two-week waiting period just to determine whether my son will be accepted as a patient. In the meantime, my son has been symptomatic for 13 days with neurological and physical symptoms and has not received appropriate assessment or treatment. Last night, after contacting Guest Services due to my son experiencing chest pain and drooling saliva, we were instructed to come to the ER immediately. However, upon arrival we were again told that no evaluation or treatment for suspected PANS/PANDAS could be provided here, and we were advised to seek care elsewhere. She suggested me to go try PAMF! As a parent who has been awake for over 26 hours trying to obtain care for her child, this situation is extremely distressing. I am respectfully requesting: * Immediate clinical reassessment of my son's current neurological symptoms* Coordination between the ER, neurology, and the Immune Behavioral Health Clinic* Guidance on appropriate treatment while awaiting specialty evaluation Stanford's Immune Behavioral Health Clinic is widely recognized for its expertise in PANS/PANDAS. At this moment, I am simply asking that my son receive appropriate medical evaluation and interim care while we wait for that specialized clinic. This situation is urgent, and I am requesting assistance from patient advocacy services to help coordinate care and ensure that my son receives the evaluation he needs. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. Sincerely,Paulina León

Let me start by saying, the nurses here are hit or miss. You can have a really good nurse but most…read moreof them are really new and its a teaching hospital so good luck to you if you are in pain. Also a lot of residents are here learning and shadowing which can make the patient nervous especially when so many people are just observing. I had came here a couple of times visiting family members; nurses laughing in their units and its just not professional. Pharmacy on the other hand, very unprofessional and rude. Technicians there very rude and they don't take their job seriously. I observed a mexican girl delivering medications to the units and she was on her phone talking loud in spanish, wasn't able to catch her name but she's skinny with long hair with a cleft lip. I work at a different hospital so for me to observe all these things from an IVY league known name hospital like Stanford is very disappointing. A family member was in the ICU and I questioned their IVPB, it just did not look right. I had observed something floating in the IVPB and asked the nurse if they could remake the bag, i believe the bag was Ambisome, i saw some part of the rubber particle floating in the bag. very untrustworthy to see how medications are made here. You think you are getting the best care, but actually its very scary since you don't know how the medications are being made. You can't trust the person making them either. That goes for every hospital but for me to see all these things I cannot imagine what happens behind closed doors in pharmacy, or nursing station, from Environmental services to house keeping, not to mention the kitchen! Lets talk about their cafeteria; their food is so expensive. For a banana its like 1.99, ridiculous. Their clam chowder cost almost $10. It wasn't even that good. I'd rather walk all the way to Lucile packard hospital for their cafeteria as its cheaper and has better food options. Don't even get me started about how hard it is to park here. I know UCSF parking is pretty bad as well but for stanford hospital to be JUST as bad and more expensive is ridiculous. Not only are you charging your sick patients parking but people who work there as well. I believe i had paid a flat rate of $25 just for a couple of hours. Stanford has a good reputation, but i wouldn't want to die or get sick here. I would not recommend coming to this hospital.

For anyone interested, I recommend reading Breathe by James Nestor to understand how important airways are. Before seeing Dr. Quo and Dr. Schron, I suffered from debilitating chronic migraines, severe pain, light sensitivity, nausea. And I got terrible headaches when flying or at high altitudes. Scans showed I had very narrow airways, and I was nearly CPAP intolerant. After starting MSE (Maxillofacial Skeletal Expansion), the difference was almost immediate. My CPAP pressure has dropped from 9 to 4, and I'm hopeful I won't need a CPAP when expansion is complete. Even more amazing, I had no headache on my first night during two recent trips to Lake Tahoe--something that used to be miserable because of the altitude. Two things that could be improved at the practice are communication and education about the process. I later found a helpful video online that explained MSE and its benefits in a nutshell, and that would have been nice to see earlier because it was a bit of a leap of faith for me--but it worked out. There was also a logistical issue when I was notified two days before my procedure that the MSE device had not arrived yet. It was disappointing and inconvenient since we had already made arrangements, but I appreciated that they were able to complete the installation later that same week. Overall, Mid Peninsula Orthodontics has been a warm, friendly, and knowledgeable practice, and this treatment has truly been life-changing for me. I am very grateful to Dr Quo and Dr Schron and their team for the important work they do!

Explained it popped out not from eating or anything, it was repeated it's $400, if we write some story why it happened it might be discounted to $300. This must be normal for this office. It feels like you're being penalized they don't consider the quality of the bracket. Office was dismissive and didn't care about the concerns. Took out the brackets and dismissed the patient altogether. This experience is horrendous. I guess after paying for the 1st phase, they don't care if you continue with their office. I would look for other places, they're not the only place who can do it, but other places might appreciate the business and value their patients.
