Giselle's Birth Class is AMAZING!! I loved how it was condensed to a single day, and she was SO knowledgeable. The environment she create each is super inviting and relaxing. I was hospitalized at 33 weeks due to pregnancy complications and wasn't able to attend because of this heartbreaking scenario. I let her know immediately that my husband and I were in the hospital and could not make the class. Awesome old fashioned hand crafted wood pull toys, and wonderful new and cool items, such as amber necklaces for teething and food mats. The staff is sweet and helpful. The quality of the items fabulous, and the prices fair. LOVE my new find. Of course I bought several items for my grandson and he loves all of it. We enlisted Giselle after 6 months of very rough nights (more than just the average newborn nocturnal madness). We're in the process of our coaching with Giselle currently, and we greatly appreciate her communication - quick replies, good follow up, and devotion to our tough situation. It is the place to go if you are interested in raising your baby in a healthy world: natural products, cloth diapers, baby carriers, organic toys, the list goes on and on. Giselle (the owner) has the patience of an angel. She helped me to try on various carriers. I am not very coordinated so--at times--this was quite the task! I opted to do the "rental" program and have been testing various ones to discover which carrier truly met our needs. I was also lucky enough to come on a Wed and join a Mommy & Me group. Oh my goodness I remember when I had my baby girl Sophia (now 7 years old) and I had no idea what to do about being a mama!!! I then found Granola Babies and found such Comfort in that place. And I was just absolutely blown away about how it was being run. But then I found out the owner, Gisele, and she was absolutely fantastic, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher throughout this process of navigating with a new little baby bundle. She made me feel comfortable, she made me feel amazing, and she made me feel like I could conquer motherhood easily. Very nice store, although it's more like a community center for new granola Mom's than anything else. They have workshops and store events which cover a wide range of topics/activities from baby wearing, to cloth diapering, to home schooling, to attachment parenting, music classes, baby signing, baby/mommy yoga, etc. They also offer the ability to rent books and expensive equipment (i.e. baby slings/wraps) so you can try different items before you commit a load of dough. The owner of the store (Giselle) is very knowledgeable about the topics covered at the events/workshops - she is an advocate of many of them, and practices much of what she preaches at home with her kids. The products she sells pretty much go hand in hand with her parenting practices/experiences and therefore has firsthand knowledge of what is good and bad. She sells some really nice stuff and has some good practical advice...! Other miscellaneous opinions - 1. It is a great resource for new Mommies - you can find the best products, introduce yourself to new parenting concepts, and meet other Mom's which share your interests in regard to babies. 2. Some of the events are better than others - thumbs down on the Mommy and Baby yoga class (too crowded!), thumbs up on the baby wearing class! 3. Many of the events only whet your appetite on the topics, further in depth research on your own time is still required. 4. The owner holds a lot of the classes, which means her time is split between running the shop and teaching the class. Which means the classes aren't as comprehensive as you might expect. My only real negative comment is that the store is in a weird and scary mart in the middle of Costa Mesa - complete with liquor store. One time I parked in the front lot and there was this scary old drunk guy sitting on on the sidewalk. Not a super cool place to be walking around with your BB! It seems like no one has written a review since Granola Babies moved to its new location at South Coast Collection, so here goes... This review is long overdue. I've been shopping at Granola Babies for a little over 7 months now. I pretty much love everything this store has to offer: great products, fun events, and wonderful people. The owner, employees, and the customers this store attracts are all so warm and helpful. Many of the products at Granola Babies are unique and high quality. Translation: it can get expensive shopping there. So my first piece of advice is to visit their website and get added to their mailing list in order to find out about their sales. They also have a baby registry and I would definitely look into that. I really wish that I had found this store sooner because I would have registered here for one (or two or more) of every item in this store. Hands down, the best thing about Granola Babies is the owner, Giselle. She is warm, friendly, and genuine. She is probably the best resource in Orange County regarding baby wearing. My next tip is to visit this store when you have some time on your hands to browse. First of all, there are a lot of things in this store that you probably haven't seen in mainstream baby stores and would need some time to just look through everything. Secondly, I think a lot of first time moms or moms who are just discovering natural parenting shop at this store, which means that there are a lot of questions being asked. So just be prepared to wait your turn. I'm just sayin' cause it seems like a few yelpers were disappointed with their experience at Granola Babies and its hard for me to understand why. So if you are in the area, definitely take some time to stop by Granola Babies. It is such a great resource and probably the best baby store in Orange County. read more

My Wife and I took the birthing weekend intensive course from Giselle. For us both this was incredibly educational, she did an amazing job of walking through what to expect and really helped to make us feel like we were equipped for being active in the day of the birth and weeks following as new parents. It really reassured us that we would be able to really actively participate in the process and not be a bystander and at the sole mercy of others telling us what to do on the day of the birth. The information that she gave us has boosted both my own and my Wife's confidence. I had been hesitant as to what the day and or information would be like, Giselle made the whole class feel comfortable and she made the class feel more like a conversation about what was going to happen. This made asking questions incredibly easy and much more interactive. For other husbands the time flew by, I know with my hesitation I thought the class was going to feel like "class" and potentially awkward. With the way Giselle engages the couples and teaches, time flew by and I really enjoyed the course. As an added plus at the end of the class we had made friends with other couples at the course because of the environment that Giselle helped to create. read more

I really love this store. I attended their free, Breastfeeding Support Group last Wednesday, and was really impressed. There had to be at least 30 moms in the private room (proof that clearly I'm not the only one who loves Granola Babies), and I even met a mom who drives all the way from Brea, every week, just to attend. The teacher was fantastic; really knowledgeable and kind. I enjoyed meeting lots of other moms and it was a great 2nd outing, alone, with just me and my baby - a scary thing for first time moms. It was nice that I was able to feed her when she needed it and no one was bothered if your baby was fussy or needed to be changed. At baby's shower, she received a pack of Aden and Anais bamboo swaddling blankets, from GB, and I can tell you, they are her favorite blankets. In fact, she even came home from the birthing center in one. We highly recommend them. I look forward to attending more events and classes at GB; this Friday, we're doing the hand and footprint impressions ... I'll be sure to update this review on that experience. read more

LOVE the Drop-In Art and Play for my 2 1/2 year old! It is one of the few places where I can bring her, and let her play freely as I sit and breastfeed my 5 month old. This place is a god send. And there are always other great parents to sit and chat with. Yelp, you've done it again. Thanks for steering me to the right place. We're in search of cloth diapering info/stuff/etc. Sure, I could go to big box baby and find someone that doesn't know anything, or I could check Yelp and the Yelp Gods could steer me to the right place. In comes Granola Babies. Granola Babies is in the SoCo Collection (where all the furniture places are on the 405 and Harbor). You'll find it next to the OC Mix Mart and Greenleaf Chop Shop. You will not be able to see it from the parking lot as it faces a courtyard area. Also to note, that they are open ONLY on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. So keep that in mind when you are out shopping. Anyway, I talked to Ashley who gave me the run-down on cloth diapers. I've read a book from the library, done internet research, and was so confused. Ashley took the time to explain it to me, tell me how it worked for her, answered my specific questions (how do you travel with cloth diapers on vacation, what do you do about ____, etc.) and she was all around an all star. More importantly, she told me about 2 different cloth diaper rental programs that they have. It's a way that you can try cloth and not have to feel "super committed" and see if they work for you. I will definitely be taking part in the rental/trial programs before we take the plunge into buying all these things that we don't understand. Besides cloth diapers, Granola babies is also known ? for selling baby carriers (think "natural Baby Bjorn") as they had a large selection of different types of those items. We love granola babies! From their awesome classes to the granola products we love it all. Natalia has the best mommy and me yoga classes - we attend every week and love that we're apart of little community of moms with the same age range of babies to bond over. I also had the pleasure of attending yoga while pregnant, again great and fun to be apart of a community. The staff is friendly and helpful-most of them are mom's themselves so they "get it". Our favs right now are their all natural toothpaste, toothbrush, and sippy cups. Their book & toy selection is adorable. they also carry local brands, rad items from brands such as rags, and these adorable trucker hats that are just so stinking cute. My son is able to play with some of the toys while we shop as well which is great for multi-tasking ;) The store itself is always so well-kept, sanitized, and organized which I appreciate having a young toddler.
