This place, although most items here costs a few pretty pennies, is a God-send for new parents and even veteran parents who have children 5 and under. I mostly practice attachment parenting with my children, so I personally decided to not have strollers. Granola Babies, I feel, sells the best carriers in the market. If the names Tula, Sakura Bloom, Lille Baby, and Girasol makes you drool, then the have it here! When I bought my ring sling here, I had absolutely no idea how to use it. The staff there taught me how to use it, as well as guided me in choosing the best carrier fit for my lifestyle. They have a basket full for carriers near their register area, so you are not just buying a carrier and not knowing how to use it. Another great thing about Granola Babies are the classes. I've attended a couple and I highly recommend attending these. Especially the Wednesday breastfeeding Q+A. That class, I feel made my breastfeeding experience so much easier because I gleaned on the advice of their lactation consultant and other moms who have either been there or are currently going through challenges. It was quite a relief knowing that I am totally not alone on my journey and to be around in a positive and non-competetitive environment. I've also attended a class on the post-natal body and that really opened my eyes on what is possibly going on with my body and emotions. So far, for me, the classes I've been to makes parenting a bit easier. I look forward in going to more. Especially in he community-like classes such as infant play and story time for my baby boy. Other than the carriers they sell here, they do have baby stuff that is useful and relevant --- more so if you raise your child in a more holistic way. Most of their products are environmentally friendly. A tip I recommend is to check out their website and sign up for their email newsletter because they do have good offers. Some of the stuff they sell are a bit pricey, so getting a discount is always good! This place is worthy checking out if you're a new parent. I started shopping with Granola Babies in April 2010--before they were officially Granola Babies. I loved their old store and I super love their new store. Giselle has always been so helpful and positive. I love that she's not only the owner but she's a lactation educator, postpartum doula, and an Attachment Parenting International leader. She has a wealth of knowledge on parenting and has been a great resource. The staff at Granola Babies has always been polite, friendly and helpful. On Tuesday I went in to buy some training pants. I had asked Ingrid about the Kazam Balance Bikes, but they were out of stock. On Wednesday I called to find out about some different training pants options. An hour later Ingrid called me (my number was on caller ID) to let me know that the Kazam Balance Bikes I was asking about had just come in. I was really impressed that she remembered, looked up my number and took the time to call me about the bike. I love that they have a wide variety of items from babies to toddlers. I also love the free support groups and classes. I can't recommend Granola Babies enough. read more

I came here because I knew they carried the beco baby carrier-Gemini and soleil. They have samples for you to try on. The sales associate was great! She knew about carriers and she helped me try on the Gemini. I have gone in thinking I was going to get a soleil but walked out with the Gemini instead. The owner rang me up and she was so great and warm. I love this store, and wished they had a lot more stuff, but they do the best they can with what they have. We went to story time which is free and super packed. The kids have a great time singing songs and reading books. We paid $8 to use the paint room. Totally worth it to leave the mess somewhere else. They have paper, paint easels, a chalk board etc. It's great for an hour or so (and much cheaper than Gymboree!). Wish there was a locale in Long Beach. Will def be back! Oh and the staff is sooooo nice even though we were late for story time. 10 stars for the staff! I love this store! I started shopping in this store for my daughter before she was even born. I initially went there to check out their cloth diapers, i didn't know anything about them. So, i had a lot of questions and the girls that they had working were very knowledgeable! I walked out with so much information that i was able to choose which Brand I would purchase for my daughter. I took advantage of the classes they offer, i attended the natural remedies making class. I learned how to make my own organic herbal syrups as well as salves. Giselle knows her herbs! I attended the vaccination information class and as well as a one on one session on breastfeeding. It was much needed. I'm so so so happy with the revamp of the store and the increased amount of products! Even my husband had a great time browsing all of the unique toys and books that Granola Babies now has. This store carries a lot of the more unique, eco-friendly brands of toys (especially wooden and fabric) including Plan Toys, Haba and Grimm. I'm especially excited by the selection of Grimm toys as I've never seen them anywhere else in person. I've had to purchase them sight unseen online before. For those of you familiar with these brands, Granola Babies' pricing is competitive with other boutiques similar in size (even online) and sometimes even Amazon. My toddler had a great time wondering the store and exploring the toys out for playing such as the train and the drum. It made it a lot easier for both of his parents to shop! She made sure all of us understood the technique and was so patient when some of us needed extra help to get the technique down. This place is cute as a button. I recently came by this boutique to purchase a few gifts for a toddler. I love their selection of "safe" toys! They also have clothing, shoes, kitchenware (spoons, bowls, etc.), and blankets. Yes, the merchandise is a tad pricey, but the quality is most certainly present. My husband and I took Giselle's Labor and Deliver class back in April 2020 via Zoom. We were preparing for our fourth baby's arrival. By the fourth baby most parents may think they know what to expect during labor and delivery, but I believe there's always more to learn! Giselle's class made me feel empowered. I learned a lot of new techniques for laboring and I felt so excited to get through that journey and meet our new baby. I ended up having a c-section because our girl was breeched, but I was still able to use a lot of the coping strategies that a Giselle teaches. The procedure was very fast and I became quite anxious in the operating room, and I was able to utilize the techniques I learned to calm myself and stay centered in order to meet our baby girl in a peaceful state. Giselle is an open book, full of insight, and just a pleasure spend time with. I'm so glad I took her class and made the connection with her. read more

They offer quality products that can be handed down for multiple babies. I've attended a few classes and they were great too. This is not only a store but a great little community. The store goes above a beyond and it shows in the warmth of the community it has created. Te staff is knowledgable on all things cloth diapers, breastfeeding, milk supply remedies, and beyond. I bought an amazing carrier that I had never heard of, but was swayed by the employees. Giselle is amazing! She helped us with sleeping coaching for our lil one (first baby) and really changed our lives. I prepared for so many things but didn't think sleep would be a significant problem. Well it turned out to be one of our biggest challenges and we did not feel comfortable with CIO as so many of my friends and family members had suggested. It was scary in the beginning, I was filled with fear and anxiety and so sleep deprived for over 7-8 months but Giselle gave us a reasonable plan and was right there with us every step of the way. I'm sorry to write this review but I have yet again been disappointed by Gisele at Granola Babies. When I was pregnant I was so excited to know this store was close by. I purchased a variety of wooden and plush toys and the cloth diapering rental package. The rental package is a good idea since this was my first child and I didn't know where to begin. I was not happy with 1/2 of my rental diapers (they simply didn't work with my baby) so I made an appointment to exchange them. The owner Gisele did not have the diapers at the store for an exchange and she wanted me to go to her house and pick them up...? She had an appointment at the DMV and didn't have the time. Eventually she went and grabbed them, I had also brought my woven wrap there, which was over $100. She showed me 1 wrap and then left. Fast forward 2 months to today. I am still having no luck with my woven wrap and made a second appointment with Gisele to get a handle on this. She claims to be a "baby wearing expert since 2006" so I was excited to learn this woven technique once and for all. I arrived on time. She showed me the same front carry that she showed me before. My baby does not like this and pushes against me causing it to be unsafe. I asked her to show me the hip carry and the back carry. She showed me a few back carry styles but when it was my turn to try it, midway she changed her technique and I got confused. I told her I was confused and she told me that if I got frustrated its not going to work and that I really have to want to carry by baby on my back. She then suggested I watch YOUTUBE (which I have and I told her that). She then went to help another customer and that was the end of that. I'm not sure why it didn't work out for me at her store and I'm sad to not be supportive of her but I drove from Long Beach numerous times to shop there, come to classes and take a lesson. I have spent more money here than I have spent anywhere else on baby stuff. Guess I expected more. read more

Incredibly disappointed. Giselle, apparently, is the owner of this store and the one I had the displeasure of meeting. I see that you read these, and I'm sure you will remember me. I purchased an amber necklace for my daughter, was assisted with the sizing by an employee (who was fabulous), who recommended the length because it would not reach my daughter's mouth. Amber necklaces should not be chewed on. It's a choking hazard. Well, the evening I purchased it, my daughter was caught chewing it. At the time of sizing, it looked fine, but clearly it was too long. Honest mistake. I immediately removed it, and went back to the store to have it either resized or exchanged for a shorter necklace. Enter Giselle. She refused to exchange it. My kid had chewed on it, and it could no longer be resold. Completely understandable. Don't resell it. I agree. But, here's the problem, you sold me a choking hazard. That is not acceptable. You need to either resize it, or eat the 30 bucks and make sure that I am not leaving your store with something that could choke my child. Obviously, I won't be letting her wear it at this size. I told Giselle I was unhappy that I couldn't use the product she had sold me. And here's what she insisted: That it was okay for my child to chew on the necklace! That is completely wrong, and I hope you aren't preaching this to other parents who may believe you and then put their children at risk of choking on the beads. Yes, I'm annoyed about spending 30 bucks and then having to resize it on my own. That's terrible customer service. Businesses need to account for this type of loss. Here's a fun thing she said: "We aren't Victoria's Secret, it's not like a specialist fit a bra for you and it didn't fit." No, Giselle, this is much more important than a perfectly sized bra. No one is going to choke on my bra. Though I do consider my boobs precious cargo, my daughter's safety is still more important than the appearance of my awesome rack. So, let's maybe take the fact that you sold a choking hazard a little more seriously. Mostly, I'm concerned that people are practicing what you preach. I'll be reporting you to the Better Business Bureau. Update: In response to Giselle's comment below. I write: I'm amused that you are denying this. I made no threats. I simply let you know I would be reporting you, and I have. I do not want any money back or to exchange any merchandise. I have no reason to lie, but you have every reason to deny. I participated in the lactation class and also new mommy group (ages 0-6 mos). They were wonderful and I would highly recommend. I could not have asked for a better experience and found the information incredibly helpful and enlightening. They also provided a great opportunity to meet other mommies. The lactation support group also very helpful. Gisselle (the owner) helps foster a positive and fun environment in all the classes. I enlisted Giselle's help with sleep training of my 27m old. We were starting bedtime at 730p and he wouldn't fall asleep until 9-915p and him waking up 1-2x/night...after just 1 week, we were able to get a routine in place (with him following it) - where bedtime started at 7p and he's asleep by 8p with very few nighttime wake-ups. She is amazing about providing tips and processes to incorporate easily, and have a huge impact! I cannot say Thank YOU loud enough! read more

When you don't have kids and you have to buy baby gifts you sometimes need valium to go ha. But not here talk about women who eat and breath babies. So on top of it with helping me. A class was about to start and the lady still took her time to help me understand what all this stuff is. I recommend the amber necklace they sell for teething! My friend swears on it. The store is small super popular for sure so try to come alone it's pretty squishy but they told me they were moving. I don't like that they are closed at 4 but oh well. They have the best selection of organic baby stuff I especially love the wooden rattles how great:) if I ever pop a baby out I'm so there!!! But I will be going there for baby gifts from now on. I love this store! This review is long overdue. As a new mom, I am always looking for advice and guidance on the best thing to do for my baby. I was at the mall one day and saw several moms wearing their babies. I was used to using a stroller and the whole concept of baby wearing was somewhat foreign to me. I met a very nice mom wearing her baby at the mall and she told me about her Beco carrier and told me that she was getting another one that day because she loved it so much. I asked her for the store name and this is how I found out about Granola Babies. They let you try out the different carriers and it's amazing how comfortable it is to carry the baby around. It's a nice bonding moment for mom and baby too. I tried a few out and ended up buying a Beco Gemini. They have a class where they teach you how to wear the baby, which I have not tried, but Giselle personally showed me how to use my carrier and it has worked out very well for me. I also learned how to breastfeed my baby while wearing the carrier which is something that I never imagined possible. While I was there, I found out that they have some awesome classes and events and the best part is that some are free. They are so nice, friendly, and knowledgable at this store. Giselle, the owner, is really helpful and I have learned so much from her. I got a lot of great advice on: breastfeeding, baby feeding, baby wearing, and more. It's fun to go to the store to meet other moms too. The store is meant for all natural moms and babies and most of the moms who come to the store use cloth diapers. I wasn't drawn to the store because of this, but I love what they stand for. I wish I had more time to go to events at the store. A lot of stay-at-home moms go for the events at the store during the day. So lucky! I came across this store after I made an appointment to have my 3 month old daughters hand and foot imprint. This store is absolutely adorable with tons of great brands. I especially loved the khaki kids pajamas and the baby bling headbands. What truly left a lasting impression on me though, was the kindness of the sweet blonde employee. She was extremely knowledgeable on all the great products. She also was so kind as she saw this first time mama struggling to nurse my daughter telling me about her experiences and making sure I was comfortable. I love this store. Gisele is very knowledgeable and is willing to answer any questions you have. They have a great selection of natural baby products. The only reason they lost one star is because of a class I took there. It was a baby yoga class and whatever the description said gave me the impression that it would work for my son and I. Well...it was really for babies that weren't moving yet. I only went to one class because my little crawler was all over the place and disrupting the brand new mommies from their attempts at relaxing. I also took a baby signs class there and I loved it. We decided to go the cloth diapering route, and the owner has been a great resource for us in figuring out what to do. Moreover, Giselle lets you try on the baby carrying equipment they have in store, and make an informed decision about whether any particular carrier is right for you. My wife enjoys attending the various groups held for mothers and babies. In short, it's a small boutique with products that are hard to find elsewhere (except online, of course), with knowledgeable and courteous staff, and seemingly a very loyal clientele. There is a roomy, gated area with couches (very nice if you need to stop and nurse while shopping) and my kids play with toys and look at books while I browse. I now go to Granola Babies on a weekly basis and they greet me by name... I truly feel like part of a community. Just took the labor + postpartum class and it was incredibly useful. This was our first labor class and I think the condensed format was perfect. It was a 4-hour crash course and was very dense with information. My wife and I feel so much more confident about the labor process and I think it's the perfect place to start as far as birth classes go. We are planning to have a doula and a fairly standard birth. After this class we feel confident enough to do any additional research on our own and don't feel compelled to take any additional courses. read more
