Glade Valley is amazing! Buster and Stella visit them for their vaccinations and annual checkups. We have been lucky that only a couple times have they needed to visit with any illnesses or injuries. When I've needed more immediate care they have always done their best to accommodate us right away. Little Buster was prone to ear infections and ever since I started following the vets cleaning and care regiment he hasn't had any issues. Doctor Nikki McAdams is absolutely wonderful. Glade valley is also way better than their previous experiences at Banfield. She is attentive, follows up and they absolutely love all the staff who are so kind and compassionate there. read more

I would still not recommend this bet to any person in the Frederick area. As the vets can not diagnose my cat successfully and the business owner continues to not hear my issue. Took my dog here for 4 years even though they seemed very high in cost compared to others. My dog got a very serious rash on her chest. They charge an arm and a leg to look then prescribe medicine and shampoo that were way above what the cost actually is. After a week of the medicine the rash started to go away. Then it came back after initial supply was gone. They wouldn't prescribe more of what was working unless they did another visit which was more money just to say the same thing and prescribe the same thing. Now let's talk about if you need to make an appointment for something that's pops up. Weeks out. Like I can't wait that long. SOL. I changed vets and let me tell you such a better experience. Just started taking my cat, Cannoli, here. This is by far the friendliest vet in Frederick, and I would know after trying many and being disappointed in them. I love that they also have a welcoming committee: two super friendly kitties, Nick and Sprinkles. They made waiting enjoyable. I took my cat in with a specific concern, and the vet staff took me seriously and immediately addressed my worries with compassion and appropriate urgency. I was grateful that they allowed me to stay in the room as they drew his blood, aspirated a cyst, and drew a urine sample. As a nurse it is important to me that these procedures are done safely and properly. The whole team absolutely knocked it out of the park. They had answers for me quickly and I felt very reassured by their confidence and rationales. They have restored my confidence and desire to take my cats in more frequently for exams as they continue to age into wonderful senior kitty life. The best part was Cannoli seemed so calm during the entire visit. He is normally terrified of the vet and pees from nervousness. The team was so sweet and calming for him. Received kind and caring service and was satisfied with them for a year or so. Then, however, the vet recommended last-ditch and uncomfortable treatment, rather than advising putting our pet down leaving us to decide on our own when it was time, which we did shortly after. Equally upsetting, a rescue claims they gave us a bad reference saying we let our pets suffer too long, when they never advised us to put them down. I can't vouch for the honesty or comprehension level of the rescue worker, but I have heard other reports of this clinic giving rescues similarly bad and unfair reports, especially from the non-vet staff (including an admission from an employee that this had been an issue for them). If you need references from Glade, authorize info release only from the vet-your primary vet familiar with your pet's case. read more

It's been nearly 4 months since your doctor tried to bully us into putting our greyhound down, which was counter to two other opinions we obtained. Since that time, she has gained nearly 7 pounds since her surgery that your doctor recommended and her UTI. We shared a video with your office, where she is clearly happy and healthy. She had arthritis rather than a neurological condition, which your vet tried to push. Adequan, which your vet would not prescribe, has worked wonders. I like that the hospital is friendly and the staff are helpful. They're knowledgeable and they give plenty advice to help me with my pet. Only con is I find them to be expensive. There's already the office visit cost so to be charged $9 for 'trash fee" seems excessive. And then another 15$ to feed my dog medication while in their office too. I made it through our cat's appointment by reminding myself that I won't be back. I've actually found a minority-owned vet in the area that I will visit going forward. The truth is the truth. We can't say enough good things about Glade Valley and their staff! They took great care of our tuxedo cat Boots for two years and our rescue pup Scarlett for the last 7 months. The vets and staff were amazing with our pets' boarding, and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy during their stays. They also showed a lot of compassion when our cat had an ongoing skin condition. Sadly, we are moving out of state and we will have to find a new vet, but we'll be happy if they are half as awesome as the folks at Glade Valley!! read more

Dr. Derrenbacher was rude when answering my questions and not very personable. Doesn't seem like an animal lover to me! The staff and vets at Glade Valley have always been empathic to what I was experiencing with the loss of my friends and caring when it came to my friends...Brandy, Toby, Karlie, Maggie and now...Lucky! In fact, it was Dr. Head who diagnosed Brandy with a cancerous tumor that two other vets at other clinics told me was a fatty tumor. That's just one incident of Glade Valley's medical expertise. We brought our cats to Glade Valley Animal Hospital for an annual checkup. Most of the care was fine, although they seemed to try to push care that we wouldn't normally think of getting for cats like dental cleaning. Imagine our surprise, however, when we got home and received emails telling us that our cats had been signed up for a "free trial" of pet insurance. Lo and behold, on our description of services were two lines (one for each cat) for "Activate Trial Plan for Pet Insurance" in the amount of $0.00. We had never been told that they were signing us up for this. We never signed any agreement to be signed up for this. And in 2 months time, if we hadn't caught this and cancelled the policy, we would be billed for the insurance. In my opinion, this is a predatory business practice, no pun intended.
