These guys are great. They came in at a great price and did a great job. I hired them to replace the AC for my condo and they did a great job there so naturally I hired them again for our house, which hasn't seen any major upgrades since it was built. Install went very smoothly and they installed a thermostat of my choosing, even though they mostly support nest. They even fixed an issue with my downstairs vents where they weren't getting airflow (One of the splitters came undone in a wall). Post install is where this company shined: Both the AC and Furnace went awry shortly after install. Marco came out promptly and spent a good chunk of his time investigating the AC to see what went wrong and got it working again. I did end up finding out post install that the AC cut-off box switch was failing and needed replacement. The heater had a manufacturing error where they had to reduce a part twice. Overall. My install went well so I referred Gladstone to a friend. They had a terrible experience so I'm updating my review to include their issue. It is unfortunate, but it is what it is. AC Line in the roof was not to code and installed wrong, my friend had to offer to pay to have it redone correctly. AC Line was not insulated in attic. They asked not have have a Goodman, but was gave an Amana which is made by Goodman. Evaporator installed was a generic brand, not Amana. After 4 years the unit has been leaking and dying. I just can't continue to recommend Gladstone. read more

I needed to replace my 15 yr gas furnace and install a new AC system + ducting. I researched for 3 months and had gotten somewhere around 8 quotes. Gladstone was not the cheapest but it was far from the most expensive ones. Mike and his crew were very professional and on time. I unfortunately (for contractors) am one of those home owners that will constantly check how well the work is done and they measured up to my standards. The crew always made sure to protect the home with plastic, blankets from scratching your floors or walls. They cleaned up at the end of each day. At the end of day 1, I went around and check all of the way they done and see if there was anything missing. I went into the attic, crawled to where the AC line exits the attic to the outside where the condenser was, I noticed the holes on the walls were not sealed. I made a mental note to ask them about it the next day. By the time I asked them, they had already sealed it up. Because of this, I feel like they did not take any shortcuts or miss the small things. It's been about 5 months with the system and everything has been great. The heater and AC works well and has kept my family comfortable! read more

I am SO GLAD (see what I did there) that I contracted Gladstone Heating & AC replace my entire HVAC system in my two-story house. Our old system was original to our early 80s home, and was all but useless. Mike Gladstone, the owner, responded to my request for an estimate within minutes and, luckily, was able to come to our house the next day. He was the first of 3 estimates, and he gave me a more than reasonable price for what I needed. He answered all my questions and provided me with recommendations that were right for me, not sales-y or overblown. Within a week we had them contracted. We had a 25-year-old air conditioner outdoor unit that went out during the worst part of the summer heat. Mike responded immediately the night I made the inquiry through Yelp. He showed up the next day. We needed an entirely new system with a new furnace and ductwork in the attic (our house is 60 years old). Mike seemed trustworthy (he is), but I wanted a second opinion. I got two more quotes, and they all corroborated that we needed an entirely new system, but their quotes were higher, and I didn't get the same sense of transparency that I had when Mike ran me through things. Mike and Marco were great. You can tell Mike takes pride in what he does, and he is an expert in this stuff. They kept the house clean when they removed everything. They were communicative and responsive. They walked me through the Nest app setup, and everything is working great. One final note. I woke up this morning and went out back to my garden by the new AC unit. I had a nuclear meltdown when I saw mud splattered all over the house and the new AC unit. I screamed at my wife and growled like a bear when my toddler wanted to come outside to see what was causing daddy to lose his ish. I thought a pipe had burst in our irrigation, but I couldn't find anything. I was supposed to drive my kids out to Ramona for their childcare. I screamed at my wife, "I can't take them! I need to figure this out!!!" My daughter started crying, and my infant son started and was about to weep as I slammed the door to head back into the garden, leaving my poor wife with two kids and a 90-minute round trip drive in the middle of her workday. I frantically called Mike as of course I wanted to blame someone for this disaster. He answered the phone, and I wasn't able to explain the situation very well. He said, "send me a picture so I can see what's going on." I didn't have time. I was in total survival mode. I started digging frantically to try to find the busted pipe. I couldn't find anything. I was on the verge of rage crying and trying to undo the very fabric of the universe when I heard someone outside my gate. It was Mike. I was no longer alone in this radically unjust universe. He came into the backyard and started looking around. For a minute he was confused too. We were trying to figure out what was going on. I was staring at the bog in my garden when I noticed Mike looking over the fence. He said, "Hey man, I think your neighbor's sprinkler pipe is broken." I climbed my daughter's red and blue plastic slide to peer over the fence, and sure enough, a tube had disconnected, and the water had been pumping over the fence into our yard causing the mud to go all over everything and creating the fire swamp in my garden. My joy was so great I almost started weeping. It wasn't a broken pipe in my yard. It wasn't Mike's fault. We now had a solution to this most difficult of problems. Mike grabbed our hose and showed me how to clean off the outdoor unit in situations like these. The mud was not a problem for the unit. He washed the mud off our house, told me to reach out if I needed anything in the future, and then walked out of the backyard like an angel who has accomplished his work on Earth. It was almost hard to look directly at his back. It seemed to be shining in the San Diego sun as he walked away. I have some pretty serious work to do to save my marriage, but had Mike not shown up, I would have been divorced by lunchtime. I can't recommend Gladstone highly enough. I needed to replace a 30 year old gas furnace. I talked to several companies but part of the problem was the reps were salesman and several times told me things that were problematic. One of them recommended a design feature that could have led to carbon monoxide problems. Another recommended a giant fresh air return grill that would have had blank wall space behind it. When Mike came, I knew I was talking to someone who had expert knowledge and I felt confident in his ability to both advise and install. So far the furnace has been running well and several balance and circulation problems are much improved. In retrospect I might have gone with a quieter model/brand, but it works just fine and I would do it again. read more

Mike was super friendly when I called and gave me the 411 on what is fair charges for having someone come to fix an central AC capacitor ($130-150), and texted me one of his contact's info right away. I own a property with two very old houses on it. When the 35 year old furnace failed in one of them, Mike came out and and gave me a great quote to not only replace the existing central heating, but also one to add on central AC. I chose the second option. A few days later, he and his crew showed up and tore the old system out, then put in the new system in a very difficult spot (attic with a narrow access opening) and created a pad for the AC external unit too. A few days later, the 59 year old furnace in the other house failed (as Murphy's Law predicted it would) and I called Mike, who came out again in a few days and was able to replace it with a new furnace in one day (no upgrade to AC on that unit). I cannot be happier with the professionalism and skill that Mike, Marco, and the others displayed during all the requisite work. They charged a competitive price but had a can-do attitude when a few obstacles cropped up, which they steamrollered over. If you want it done right, the first time, with the utmost professionalism from bid to close, call Gladstone. In October 2015 I had a complete overhaul of my HVAC system. Mike and his team removed my huge, old, 1970s furnace from my tiny attic. And that was the easy part! The crawl space up there is not even high enough for a 5'4" person (me) to stand up. My house had never had A/C so we needed all new ducting and vents; getting into the tiny space was nothing short or a miracle and Mike's team handled it...even when I asked for a vent in my Master Bathroom, which was seemingly impossible at first glance. He had to deal with the city who gave him all sorts of issues, but he handled everything. 18 months later (March 2017) we wanted to install a ductless unit in our Granny Flat.
