This is an update to a previous review done many years ago. Our AC has had issues for a while and we ended up with a large hole in the refrigerant coil. After spending money every year to "get us by" we decided to consider replacing our unit. Kim and Jim recommended a heat pump, but we weren't ready for that level of investment. Long story short, after a few weeks of research, we came around to their wisdom and went with the heat pump, thereby replacing our traditional gas furnace with this more efficient, all-electric multi-stage AC/heat pump system (we have solar, so it makes sense!) It took a bit of tinkering to get settings just right and to calibrate thermostats, but Kim and Jim patiently helped us through the process and we cannot be more grateful. The customer service is just awful. I called a week ago for AC service. they scheduled me for today saying that they would call me the day before with a time window. They didn't. I called this morning and got their voicemail. Left a message. an hour later I called again, also went to voicemail. For this second one, I clicked that it was urgent and their 'call service' answered even though we are well within business hours. Left a message with them to call me back. Now I am another 40' later and I called a third time. Again, my call went to voicemail. Do they ever answer their phone or pick up messages? I have left a third message with them, to call me with the service window. It is now closing in on 10am. I really cannot stay here all day, although my morning is pretty much shot by now. Edit: They finally called, after I posted the review, and apologized. They had typed my email without a 'dot' which is why the notification for the previous day did not work and will fix their messaging system. The repair was performed quickly (~30') and professionally. While the lack of communication was definitely an issue, the work was performed well, and I have upped my rating. read more

We got another quote from another company that came in a little lower, but we were much more comfortable with the professionalism Kevin showed. Fantastic job. We had to replace a 60 year old furnace so we didn't have any idea of the alternatives for heating systems. Kim and Brandon were so responsive in answering questions about different options. Jim's technical information particularly about the pros and cons of different options was excellent. I can't say enough positive about the installation team. We received notification when they were arriving and even included a picture of the lead staff person who would be leading the team. They were fantastic about keeping the mess down and this included holding a box under the area they were cutting into a wall for new registers so we did not have a lot of dust going around the house. The Air Plus team did an awesome job from beginning to end. They were polite and knowledgeable over the phone when I set-up the appointment for a heater repair and an air conditioner service. The certified technician was on time and obviously very well-trained and knowledgeable about our system's equipment. He diagnosed two small issues (one with the heater and one with the A/C unit) and was able to resolve both during our visit. He also noted one reading on a heater component that was good, but not perfect and might require a replacement in the next year or two. Hello, Air Plus recently repaired my Fujitsu mini split system (it was not cooling), and it now cools very well! The two technicians were courteous, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. Also noteworthy, they repaired my mini split system even though they did not install it. This is unique in this industry I have found. Air Plus was the only installer of the eight I called that would repair my system. The installer who installed my system, Carini, would NOT repair my unit, because they no longer sell Fujitsu systems (not that this is a valid reason, it's just the reason they gave). Do not call Carini if you have a Fujitsu mini split system with their name on it. Call Air Plus. read more

No air was blowing out of three of our house's air ducts. A tech came out and he quickly determined that the problem was within our walls, not the attic, and then he figured out which air duct line must be the problem and where the problem likely was occurring. He gave us a quote for the repair and we scheduled a date and time for a crew to come back. When their crew came back, they opened the wall and found a disconnect between where a 10" line connected to a 9" line. They fashioned and attached a reconnect, and that fixed the problem. Their techs are focused and get the job done. I like how they charge for their services. It saved me money. First, they charge you a set fee for "Level 1 service" (in our case, the tech who came to our home and figured out what the problem was). Then they offer you a quote for the next work, which in my case was a "Level 2". It helped that I had told them I would handle the wall repair myself. The total of their charges was much less than a quote I had been given from another company. read more

So I have an update to my review on this company! We originally used them to install a new HVAC system in our former house. Since my first review we moved, and discovered fine particulate dust literally COVERING the inside our furnace that appeared to have resulted from the HVAC system not being adequately protected when an investor remodeled the house we purchased. We were very concerned the furnace would blow the dust into the ducts and throughout the house. After fielding several calls from me to help me determine how to best resolve the issue, Rhonda and Tonya made and appointment for us with Andrew and Derrick to fully clean out our furnace and duct system. Like our first experience with Air Plus a few years ago, this company continues to be very customer orientated, professional, friendly, and most importantly, I feel like I can trust their technician's suggestions--and that is huge. We have 2 toddlers, and when I asked the technicians if they had fabric booties to cover the bottoms of their shoes while walking on our carpets, they kindly obliged. They were very respectful of my concerns, and took care when removing duct registers so as to not scratch newly painted walls. With the summer heat looming and no ac on my town-home that was built in the 70's, I knew it was time to look into an appropriate ac system to feel comfortable in my home. Always having AC, in every prior home I lived, I tried getting by with an "open window here and a fan there" thinking that would get me by(which it does for many of us in San Diego) but there really is no natural breeze that can compare to ice cold AC. It didn't take me long to come across a company, that from my research, valued the customer experience and put the customer first. Me having limited knowledge on HVAC systems quickly led me to do a little research and I was able to find out that a mini split system might be the most appropriate solution to my home that has no internal duct work nor access to any attic space. Let alone provide cost savings through energy efficiency with a strong seer rating( I got the LG glass mirror finish and boy does it look nice, certainly would compliment many homes that may have some concerns with aesthetics that some of the other brands do not address well) My comfort advisor David Finnestad was able to answer all of my questions( and I had a lot) and walk me through my options in terms of understanding my needs and identifying the most optimal solution. He listened to my concerns of where I wanted these air handler units in relation to each "zone" that it was going to be in as i had 3 zones since they are placed up on the wall and jut out(in a pleasing way as my unit matches the color scheme of my walls). Living in a complex managed by an HOA, I also had to make sure i was considerate of the conformity of the neighborhood due to these line set covers that would be running around the exterior stucco of the home. The install team Andrew, Derrick, Ralph, Dorian and Jim did a very professional job on both, the exterior of the home making sure the line set covers looked as clean and as flush with the angles of the home as possible and also the interior of the home, being cognizant of all the dust and footprints that make its way into peoples home on a typical job and taking appropriate measures to keep everything clean. Overall, it was a true 5 star experience from start to finish. I will definitely be referring them(as I have noticed a couple of neighbors poking their head around my unit) whenever I can. I wish my pooch could have been a little more friendly but the install team took all the work in stride and even though he may have been growling out of his kennel, I am sure he's happy with the cool air just as well. Air Plus installed a new Bosch multi-stage heat pump for us last week. We met with several companies and ultimately decided on Air Plus. At our first meeting were impressed by Jim's (co-owner) knowledge of HVAC systems and his willingness to dig in the the specific details of what we needed (120V fane, wiring, airflow, etc). Other companies offered us a dual-fuel (gas and electric) system, but Air Plus was the only company we met with that could give us an all-electric heat pump to help us get closer to removing natural gas appliances from our house. Most of the other companies we met with were larger and sent sales reps that did not have Jim's expertise. We could not be happier with the results. Dorian came out today-what a nice guy! He was in and out in an hour, respectful of our home and (strictly indoor) animals and answered questions we had. Luckily there were no issues with our system and Dorian showed my husband how to do some adjustments.... now our house is evenly warm at 70 instead of cool in the living room and roasting in the nursery. While we currently do not have issues with the AC unit they installed (not yet), I do have major complaints on how the 3 guys worked. If you hire them, please prepare your house to be ransacked by these people: 1.) They used all 3 of our bathrooms without asking permission and splattered urine all over the toilet rug. Disgusting! Being a human being, I understand that you have to void. What I don't understand is why none of them asked permission so we can tell which restroom is for public use. Not only they did this once but 5 times! Plus they had to come back 1or more times to our house, spend just 30 mins or so and use our restrooms again without asking permission. FYI: our house is NOT a gas station toilet. 2.) They used rugs to cover the area where the workers walk through. These rugs however contained dust, wood chipping, stucco residue, dried leaves etc and looked like they have not been washed or vacuumed for the time eternity! These rugs defeat their purpose of maintaining the area clean and may actually cause harm than good to whoever walks on them. 3.) They chipped huge areas in our hatch when they forced our old HVAC out and when they put the new one. 4.) One guy parked in our driveway (which we didn't mind). However, he left wrappers of food/blueberry muffins on the driveway. Do you expect me to pick that up for you? 5.) One of the guys was at our kitchen staring at the backsplash, sink, countertop, and food. There is no vent, thermostat, furnace or whatsoever in that area that had something to do with the work they are doing. He was there for about 10 mins and I finally walked to the kitchen and he suddenly rushed leaving. What the heck was he doing?! Need water? (He could have asked). 6.) Two of the guys were arguing. One telling the other: "Why the *uck did you do that!" They were also yelling while working even if they were only a few feet away from each other. Please do us a favor and leave your cussing and arguing exclusively at Air Plus offices. We are not interested with your Jerry Springer shit. 7.) When all the work was over, lo and behold you need to re-vacuum your floor and carpet because they only use a shopvac and leave over wood chippings that can be a pain on the soles of your feet. You also have to wash your comforters and other areas they dropped debris on. They just don't care. When all the work is done they are in a rush to leave. Do we want to be treated like kings and queens in our house when these Air Plus men are in our house? NO. What we only ask is a common decency a human being does to another. These people are by far the worst workers we ever had in our house! If you don't mind experiencing the above, then by all means hire these people. Good luck! read more

Just had them come out during our heat wave. My wife and daughters are at home and the A/C unit went out. Topping 95 degrees, they were roasting! Air Plus came out (Jim) the SAME DAY we called them which was yesterday. He quickly fixed our drainage issue and then put in a new transformer. I had an AC issue for the main living area of the house and I called AirPlus to come check it out. On initial appointment a nice service tech came out and try to resolve the problem. My wife asked as long as your here can you also replace a thermostat in the kids room. He said no problem and within 5 min replaced the kids room thermostat. He then proceeded to the actual job at hand: fixing the living room AC unit. After 2 hours of trying he was not able to determine the problem and indicated the boss would come out tomorrow to figure it out. The next day (Sunday) the boss arrives, figures out what's wrong (1.5 hours) and resolves the issue. read more

I turned on my a/c during this heat wave, and found it blowing warm air. Sitting in my condo at 82 degrees, I called about 6 other places. The soonest any of them could send someone was 3 days out. I talked to Kim, and she said she'd check if they could send someone out at the end of the day. They did. Omar had been on the clock for 11 hours when he arrived at the end of his day. It was still so hot out. He went right to work diagnosing my 30 year old unit. He found the issue was a blown fuse and a bad part. He had everything he needed in his truck and got my unit working again. All for a reasonable price, especially considering the last minute call for help. Now I'm chilling in a cool condo. We also loved the fact that we were dealing with the Trane dealer. That's a brand we had heard of and felt comfortable with that. I have been using Air Plus Heating and Cooling for several years. The blower stopped working and I called them to replace it and do maintenance on both the furnace and AC. They were on time, COVID19 safe, knowledgeable, and did not leave a mess. The price was fair. Because my system is very old we also discussed replacing it should the AC compressor go out. This last summer was the worst and after 7 years living in our condo without any form of air conditioning we had to get some relief. Our only option is a ductless air/heat system because we do not have ducts to accommodate central air or heat. I received 3 different bids. Air Plus was not the cheapest bid.
