It was my daughter's prom and she needed an updo. Unfortunately Lauren sends me the attached text message a few hours before our appointment and says she cannot see us as "her booking system never updated and she was unavailable". I couldn't believe she contacted me hours prior to cancel our appointment! Ridiculous to see she also charges 40% of the fee if you were to cancel prior. Glam Studio is located in studio #6 in the Sola Salon. There is no signage on the door, so I had a hard time finding it, until I researched online again to try and identify which unit # it was in. My appointment was at 7 pm, but when I opened the door to the studio, the stylist, Lauren, asked me to wait outside on a bench around the corner since she was with another client. I wasn't called in until about 7:30. Lauren was friendly and talkative, and asked me some questions about how I normally style my hair and what I wanted to do with it. My requests were pretty simple, just a trim and some layers. I had purchased a Groupon that included cut, deep treatment, and styling. She asked if I wanted her to curl my hair to see what it would look like styled and I said yes (because styling was included with my Groupon). My hair cut was fine, nothing amazing, but not bad. I was disappointed with my experience for a few reasons. 1) I have never waited so long for a hair appointment after my scheduled time, and I was really hoping to be done sooner so I could go home and help put my kid to bed. 2) I normally get a hair wash before my hair cut at other places. I saw reviews on Groupon that they got a shampoo, but Lauren didn't wash my hair. It was a dry cut situation. 3) I was supposed to get a deep treatment, but didn't get that either. I thought the deep treatment was supposed to be a conditioning treatment of some sort after a shampoo, but I guess not. She did use some kind of spray (I think dry shampoo or hairspray?) and some oil for shine. 4) If you are one to prefer being around people that wear masks, you should know that Lauren doesn't wear a mask while working on your hair. At first, I was not able to make it to my appointment due to work so I texted Lauren and she was able to move my appointment to Saturday instead. During the appointment, Lauren was really friendly and willing to share any hair advise with you. She also made sure she knows what you want before cutting and styling your hair. Glam Studio is located inside Sola Salon Studios (which is located in the same plaza as Trader Joe's, Kohl's and TJ Maxx. Right next door to Kirkland's Home to be more specific). Early last month, I got my hair cut by Michelle Reynolds. I purchased a Groupon voucher for a haircut because I was in need of one (and also I like to donate my hair to charity on a yearly basis). I made an appointment with the owner, Lauren, via text message. She instructed me on how to make the appointment official online and then I set with an email confirmation that I had an appointment for my hair cut. For my Groupon voucher, I was getting a hair cut with style and also deep conditioning treatment. However, I realize much later (after I had already gotten home) that I did not get a deep conditioning treatment. Anyways, on the day of my appointment (on a Monday, 12 pm), I arrived early and just waited outside of the small studio (right when you walk inside Sola Salon Studios, make a right down the hall and it will be the 3rd or 4th little studio on the right). I did not know that Michelle was the one to cut my hair (as that was not mentioned by the owner via text of in her email). But anyways, I was greeted by Michelle when she arrived. She asked me if I was her 12 pm appointment (she told me that Lauren is the one who does the Groupon appointments because she said she isn't as technology savvy, and just tells her when she has appointments). I did and handed her a printed out copy of my Groupon voucher. Anyways, Michelle washed my hair and made small talk with me. I thought she was very friendly and just genuinely a nice person. I had told her beforehand that I am planning on donating my hair to charity (to Pantene Pro V's Beautiful Length in case you were wondering). The charity requires that I have the hair be braided and hair tied at both ends. The hair bands I purchased just kept breaking as Michelle struggled to tie it around the ends of my long hair. She was so kind in giving me own hair bands so that my soon to be donated hair will be held together. The hair bands she gave me were the nice hair bands you would use on a regular basis to pull your hair back. These weren't those thin, cheap little elastic bands that I had (Michelle told me that the bands I had were most likely dry since they were old. I purchased these a few years ago and have used these every time I cut my hair and donate it). She suggested a a better brand of elastic bands for me to purchase in the future. I was grateful that Michelle gave me these hair ties and appreciated that she really took care of my soon to be donated hair to make sure that nothing would happen to it. It was nice talking to Michelle during my hair appointment. I felt like I was talking to a friend. She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease during the entire duration of my visit. I also appreciated the style tips she gave me for my new short hair style. I do want to mention that this particular location (there is a Glam Studio in Upland and am not sure what the protocol is over there) only takes appointments and not typically walk ins. Also there is free WiFi and the restrooms (on the opposite side of this little studio) were clean upon this visit. read more

My mom purchased a groupon with Lauren and had an very unfortunate experience. First, on her schedule day, Lauren texted that she had an emergency. Totally understandable and we reschedule. On the day of our next appointment we sat outside in the hallway and waited 45 min. I already peeped in to their room (It's part of a work/space type place where there are a bunch of businesses next to each other) when we arrived and she was still working on someone and told me she was running a little late. Well it was extremely inconvenient to have my mom (who got ready for this appointment in hopes of fixing her hair finally since we had to wait days later) wait for so long on a hard bench. I also had a work appointment and knew we would not make it. What made it worse was that she didn't even have the decent courtesy to come out again to give us an approximate time on when she was going to be done. I contacted groupon at the 45 min mark and they escalated my situation to their complaints department. I know this was a discounted service since this was through groupon but you do NOT treat any customer this way. To make things worse - I received a text from her at 11:23pm with an apology for my wait and explaining she was double booked. I found it totally rude to text me at that late hr, yet not even explain that when we were actually there waiting for almost an hr! I've been to many top salons in LA through working in the industry myself - and I assure you I will NOT be using any sort of specials off of groupon just to save some $$ anymore. So not worth it. Do NOT book an appt with this person Lauren! it's a 4×5 independent owned size of a bathroom salon. I had originally booked an appt with Lauren who canceled on me and did not have the decency to call or text. She had sent another stylist who also canceled on me last minute! I was very upset and had called and text several times until Lauren the owner text back. She offered to compensate but I refused. Originally I tried booking with Groupon and called Glam Studio beforehand to get an appt. I was shocked that the owner Lauren had asked me not to book with Groupon because she would only be paid half the amount. I did her the favor and booked the appt. through her and in the end she cancelled. She was also very offended that I did not accept her compensation and text me several times that in the end I had to block her. Im pretty sure she was afraid I would leave her a bad review. The problem is that these women reside in the Riverside County and will not want to travel to L.A. if the appt is worth under $50 most likely they will cancel on you!
