Anyone?"…read more As a new client, I called three times over the course of a week and a half and left messages each time. I figured maybe the first one got lost in the beauty ether, the second one was during peak glam hours, and the third one... well... surely someone would call back. Alas, the phone remains silent. At this point I can only assume one of the following: They are so good that their clients never leave and therefore the phone is purely decorative. My messages were intercepted by a rival salon trying to keep me from achieving my full gorgeous potential. The title "Hello Gorgeous" is aspirational and I simply didn't qualify. Sadly, without a callback I will never know what my true level of gorgeousness could have been. If anyone from the salon happens to read this, I'm still here... patiently waiting... aging slightly... and continuing my journey toward mediocrity instead of gorgeous.

Robbyn, who I believe is the owner, was very kind and welcoming. I truly appreciated her warmth and the fact that she is a woman of faith. She even went out of her way to pick me up when she found out I was walking to the appointment, reassuring me that it was no problem at all. That gesture alone meant a lot to me. When we arrived at the shop, Robbyn informed me that due to her schedule and squeezing me in (which she had already mentioned when I booked my appointment for a trim and possibly braids), another stylist would be taking care of me. Naturally, I asked if the stylist was good, and Robbyn assured me that she would never allow someone to do hair in her shop if she didn't believe in their work. Based on her reassurance and the way she presented herself, I trusted that I was in good hands. The shop itself was very inviting. Everyone there, both the women and the gentleman present, were friendly and welcoming. They even offered me water since I had been hot from walking and running to get there, which I appreciated. The stylist I was seated with, whose name I believe was Robbyn or Robbi, let me know upfront that she was heavy-handed and asked if I was tender-headed. I wouldn't consider myself tender-headed, as I've had braids and various styles done by different people before. However, her grip was a bit aggressive. I don't believe any harm was intended, but it was uncomfortable at times, though manageable once I adjusted. There was some confusion about the services being provided. I had expressed that I wanted my ends trimmed and possibly braids. At the same time, I was under the impression that Robbyn herself would be doing my hair. I also mentioned earlier that I already had someone cut my hair (a fade done by my brother), but in the moment, not wanting to offend anyone or create tension, I didn't speak up and allowed the stylist to proceed with the cut and trim. Ultimately, I did not receive braids. As the service continued, I felt that the stylist could sense my discomfort and that I wasn't completely happy with the results. Robbyn eventually came over and apologized for the misunderstanding, acknowledging that I expected her to do my hair. She even offered to pay the stylist out of her own pocket due to my dissatisfaction. I reassured her that it was okay and paid for the service, but I knew internally that I would not be returning. Overall, this was not a good experience for me personally, but it was a learning moment. Moving forward, I know the importance of speaking up and clearly advocating for myself. Despite my experience, I do believe the people here are genuinely kind and mean well.
