I knew that it would be a lot of upkeep, but I did not know it would be ADDICTING. My eyeballs just feel so NAKED without my eyelash extensions done by Cheryl. I naturally I have very thin/fine hair, so my eyelashes are obsolete. I usually have to wear eye liner/makeup to enhance my eyes, but NOT ANYMORE! Cheryl was taking private clients only, but she has now opened up a new lash room in Poway. She shares a cute office with another gal, and has a huge, private, comfortable room for you to lay in during your lash session. She is very meticulous with her work, and she will take the time to make sure your lashes look beautiful. She has been trained by a Celebrity Lash Extension-er (if that's the term), using a different and more effective technique for the extensions. She has always been able to squeeze me in despite her busy schedule. My lashes ALWAYS look so beautiful and natural when I leave her place. She uses a great glue that stays at least 2-3 weeks, that you CAN get wet (disclosure: I'm not saying go diving, surfing, or scrub your face off in the shower. But, my lashes have graciously stayed on after 2 weeks, with 1 week in pools/oceans of Riviera Maya, MX). She keeps me entertained during my lash sessions with stimulating conversations, but also lets me take naps when I've had a long day. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Her prices are BEYOND affordable. Time and time again, they've been professional, kind, and great at conversations! I'm sensitive to pain, but they're amazing at making conversation to try and distract me from the hair removal pain. They've since closed their Black Mountain location, but the Carmel Mountain location is clean, has plenty of parking, and is easy to find and drive to. They offer tap to pay, and QR codes to pay whichever staff does your service. I personally have the brow tab, which gives you 6 brow threadings for the price of 5. As of 08/15/2026, the brow tab is $90.

Quirky store to how I discovered Ivy…read more.. I came in for my biannual teeth cleaning (I've had the same dentist for a decade), and noticed the receptionist's lashes. They were so pretty and said that their hygienist (she cleans my teeth pretty often), referred her to a lady named Ivy! And yes, my hygienist's lashes were just as pretty as hers! My boyfriend got me my first set on December 2017 (for Christmas) and I became a regular of Ivy's from then to May 2018. I took a couple of months break since, yes, unfortunately lash extensions damage your own lashes. I returned today (October 6, 2018) and decided on the the half-set ($40 for 50 lashes each eye) and they're beautiful. I would argue that they are just as beautiful as what I used to pay for ($99 for over 100 lashes). Ivy is great and she is in a new location (she was in another salon in Mira Mesa) in the Black Mountain area. She has been doing this for years and the hygienist (mentioned above) has been her customer for more than three years. I'm disappointed at the other reviews especially because my lashes were always fabulously done. There might be a bit of a language barrier since English isn't Ivy's first language, but I've never had any problems that were mentioned in the other reviews. She has tried to upsell to me before, but hey, she is a business after all! So, you just say, "no, thank you" (duh?)! Ivy is worth every penny for your lashes. I receive so, so, so many compliments whenever Ivy does my lashes. Ivy's technique makes the extensions look extremely natural and that's because she tries to use as less glue as possible. In terms of the actual process itself, people have different experiences but it's not hurtful by any means. However, there may the occasional "ouch" moment, but you'll survive and love your lashes :) If you haven't done your research (about extensions), I highly suggest you do so prior to getting them. Her current prices are $99 for over 100 lashes or $40 for fifty lashes each eye, which is what I'm wearing in the photos I posted. Let's get real here.. those are cheap compared to others. If you're curious about lash extensions and want to keep it friendly on your pockets, Ivy is a great option. I communicate with her mostly through text and she responds within the same day or the day after. ***Do keep in mind that she only accepts cash.*** I would take the other (negative) reviews with a grain of salt, because, like I said, she does awesome work, she's always been responsive and polite, and her prices are beyond reasonable. Only way to find out is for you to go see her for yourself! I'll be back in two weeks or so for a refill :D I missed them so much, I honestly can't believe I went cold-turkey for months, hah.

irene saved my nails today on such short notice. her attention to detail, honesty, and expertise…read morecompletely won me over and i cannot wait to return for my next appt. for context, the day prior to my walk-in at kim nails, i went to another salon and received gel x that was poorly fit (my sidewalls were still showing on 6 out of 10 nails), an ombre that was not blended whatsoever, and extensions that were sloping so far up my coworker two desks over asked me if i wanted her to fix them for me. i couldn't endure it so i decided to go to kim nails near my work and ask them to just soak it all off and redo the entire set. irene took one look at my nails, patiently heard me out, and got to work. instead of a new set, she and her coworker filed down all that previous unshaped bulk and gave me the best acrylic fill of my life. irene dedicated extra time to filing and shaping my nails pre-builder gel and then even more time post-builder gel to create the perfect apex and minimize unnecessary weight. ive never had a nail tech use three different drill bits just to refine my nail shape before at a salon. she even filed underneath the nail where the gel from the previous extension had built up - without me asking! this all by itself was more than i could have asked for, but then i find out that they have asian nail polishes, too! ive always brought very translucent/transparent inspo pics to my appts and have always been let down by opaque polishes. but at kim nails they have the exact type of translucent jelly nail polishes i have been looking for!! irene also perfected the subtle cateye gleam that i love and have been unable to achieve at home. when i inquired re: designs, irene informed me that if she feels like she can't do a design justice, she'll be upfront with her client and let them know. i value this honesty so much because i am lowkey nonconfrontational and have watched my nails become something totally different than the inspo i brought to the table. to top it all off, they have a very, very affordable pricing for a very efficient appointment. for the same duration and more effort, i almost spent under half of what i paid just the day before for my previous set. (i tipped over 50% to match because it would feel like a moral failure to pay irene any less than what i paid for my failed set.) all in all, 5 out of 5 stars i am endlessly grateful. my pictures do not do this establishment justice and for that i apologize i will take better pictures with my next set!!!
